AND SLIDES RIGHT THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE BASE. THE MILK GLASS SPHERE HAS A CAP ON THE TOP WHERE THE WHOLE IS. AND IS ABOUT 5-1/2" WIDE. I'm selling this Swirling Cow for the elderly Farmer that lives down the road. He had Her on top of the pig shed for the past 30 years. Sold the pigs and the shed and added Pine Tree farming. Less maintenance. This Cow swirls in all Directions along with the Directionals. Extremely well made form cast aluminum with an Oxidized Weather Proof Finish that looks like aged copper. The spacers wore out so he replaced one with a 12 ga brass cap. The 25" high by 11/16" wide, upright steak is solid steel also reinforced with a solid steel rod for extra strength and durability. The bottom on the steak is drilled and tapped for a 5/16" O.D. standard thread. Antique Automobile Weathervane Hollow zinc with cast iron arrow. It has a few small bullet holes. One through rod under center of car. There is little weathering through zinc on bottom of front tire. Original rod and ball, ball has both metal endcaps. No repairs, as found. This was just removed from a local barn. I mounted it on a beautiful old piece of highly figured tiger maple using top part of rod. Bottom of mount is covered in felt. 25" high and arrow is 23" long. Guaranteed as described. WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster. Painted Tin, 22" Tall x 23.5" Wide This is a terrific Antique Weather Vane featuring a Rooster that I picked up years ago in Salisbury. Maryland which is the capital of chicken raising country in Southern Maryland. I think he is the work of some local craftsman. Rather than a commercially produced piece. He is made of cut out and assembled pieces of tin. His body was painted black; his comb, wattle and tail, red. Much of the paint has worn off revealing patches of rust. I particularly admire the overlapping semi-circular pieces used to form his hollow body. His wattle is in two pieces opened toward the front. Serving as the wind catcher. As he is now on is wooden stand he is 22 inches tall and 23 1/2 inches long. His hollow body is 3 inches at its widest. One of the sun colored amethyst(SCA) balls has a V shaped chip that does not reach the body of the ball. But a metal cap covers this chip fully. One of the blue milk glass balls has a bubble pop hole in it. This hole is from the manufacturing process, an air pocket was in the mold when the ball was made. This is not a hole caused by a BB gun. This ball is considered usable, as it was on a rooftop lightning rod for years and did not break during its lifetime. All of these balls have another 100 years of use left in them! Cobalt Maher Preston Iowa Lightning Rod Ball
Unusual. But not old, cobalt lightning rod ball from Maher Mfg, Preston, IA. I think this was a test ball for Harger Lightning Rod company who made balls for Fenton glass in the 1980's, many of which were used as lamp parts. It is heavier glass than the couple of cobalt Maher's that were found years ago at the Roderfer Glass company. This item did come out of a collection that had lots of Harger items and test items in it. Pictures of the retro inside, are available upon request to prove the building dating by the extreme art deco architectural inside. This was currently removed for a new roof about 2 weeks ago. It was painted green at one point. And red about 2 years ago over the green with red Ford truck paint. Measurements: Overall height is about 45"3'9" The rocket top: The point is about 16" tall. But 21" when measuring edge to tip. The band around the rocket top add another 4" The circumference of the band around is about 108" The bottom cylinder: The bottom cylinder circumference is about 64" The height here ranges from about 22" to 25" Taking in consideration the angled base for roof top. The angled base is 26" per side. There are traces of the old green color and black roofing material. There are holes for screws. In usable condition. As it was used for around 75 years previous of the removal 2 weeks ago. The photos were taken in the rain. Although the red paint isn't perfect. Minimal rust. This is totally usea

Purple Glass Lightning Ball Early 1900's Beauty !!!!
Up for auction is this late 1800 or early 1900's Purple glass lightning ball. it has some staining on the inside of the glass but I am sure there is a way to clean it.I'm just not sure how. It looks real nice anyway and you don't see the staining unless it is held to the light directly. There is one chip around the one end where the rod slides through but this does not take away from the display capabilities of the lightning ball. There is roughness around the openings but this is from the production process when it was made over 100 years ago. The dimensions are approx. 4"H x 4"W. WEATHER VANE: Antique Banneret. Gilded Iron. Copper& Brass, 22.5" x 23" This is a wonderful old Banneret Weather Vane which I found years ago west of Nashua. New Hampshire, near Millford Circle. I don't know the maker or its age for sure. I might guess it dates to the early 1900's or late 1800's It is made almost entirely of Iron. The four flowers are copper and I believe the ball at the top is brass. There is a coat of dark or black paint under the gilding on the iron parts. And there is some verdigris which has developed on the flowers and ball a the top As it stands now on its wooden base. This Vane is 22 1/2 inches stall and 23 inches long. The wooden base adds another inch and a half. There is a newer steel support rod which runs up through the whole and keeps it together. On the whole this Banneret is in pretty ... moregood condition and displays beautifully The photos give a very good idea of the form and condition of this great old Weather Vane. This is an antique copper running horse weathervane. It measures approx. 15" tall and 31" long. the horse itself is 29" long) It is in worn. Used condition. There are some holes in it and it has very nice, natural patina. The copper sides are somewhat caved in from age.

Vintage Cupola Roof Old Large Galvinized Metal Old White Paint Zinc?
Large Vintage old galvanized metal or zinc cupola roof. This is a very neat architectural piece from the early 20th or earlier century. It came out of an old barn in Nevada City. California. It has the original paint which has worn a bit. Actually gives it a neat shabby Chic look. Has a neat angled seam to a point on four sides. Great to make a top for your vintage garden house or shed or Bar B Que. the hard roof structure is done. Measures about 16" high at point from base. Just a tad over 36" square on the outside. A tad over 30" on the inside square. The inside metal is bent slightly as seen in pic. Could be bent out if desired. A unique old roof cupola. Shipped in USA UPS. ANTIQUE FOLK ART LIGHTHOUSE WHIRLIGIG by RHODE ISLAND BOSS PATTERN MAKER 1930's
Antique Folk Art 5 sided lighthouse whirligig made by boss pattern maker Robert Jarvis of Providence Rhode Island in the mid 1930's. This is a high quality piece made by a fine craftsperson with talent for detail and construction methods. Robert did not sell his pieces but after he passed his daughter approached me(I am a retired whirligig maker) to see if I could repair one for her as she was moving to Vermont and if I was interested in purchasing some she did not have room for. And I did. This was at least 30 years ago, and now I am parting out my collection of antique whirligigs including several of Mr Jarvis' This one is a nice intermediate size in fine condition, 16"L X 15"T X 6"W, the prop is 16" in diameter.The propellor will be removed for shipping. I will be advertising others, including the WWII pieces ... moreshown in the post WWII newspaper article. I will include a copy of the article with the piece for provenance. Tail and feet, a couple small splits in metal where the two sides come together and it is seperated from the 30 inch vane. It will be shipped in two pieces, two boxes. VINTAGE BLACK CAST ALUMINUM AND BRASS SAILING SHIP WEATHER VANE Nice!FARM BARN
Here is a vintage cast aluminum weather vane with a sailing ship pointer on top which spins freely. The Ship and directional markers are made from thick cast aluminum. The center pole appears to be brass. Although it is quite tarnished. There is a metal mounting plate at the bottom. And under that a circular wooden base that is very weathered. Measures 28" tall and 16" wide at the widest point, Very solid and well made. The wooden base will need replacing or repairing if you plan to use it. Otherwise the metal roof mounting plate is in fine shape and will secure it to a roof for many. Many years. A really nice vintage weather vane! Thanks for checking it out.
