This piece of salt glaze pottery is signed by ... moreC.W. Braun, Buffalo N.Y. It measures about 13 1/4 inches tall and has a bottom diameter of 7 3/4 inches while the center is about an inch wider. Quite heavy, it weight over 8 1/2 pounds. There are no cracks or hairlines. There's only one tiny chip measuring 1/8" long and that's on the inside of the opening; it's not easily spotted. The handle is in excellent condition and has never been broken. The clay used in the making of this piece apparently was rich in iron as there are orange highlights around the spout, on the sides and on the back. It's well preserved piece of 1800s stoneware that we offer up for bids without reserve! Good luck!

A commanding 3Gal. Beehive Jug bearing an impressed. Cobalt-washed stamp that reads: A.O. WHITTEMORE, HAVANA, NY. This is the mark of Albert Whittemore, who operated a stoneware manufactory in Havana Village, just west of Ithaca 1863-1893; the area is now known as Montour Falls. Whittemore Beehives are quite scarce, and this one is very impressive. This is a WONDERFUL! VERY OLD stoneware jug or crock! It has some interesting imperfections. It has a beautiful rich brown glaze on the inside and outside. There are some very minor chips in the underside and edge of the lid. Other than that it is perfect! There are no cracks or damage anywhere else. It is about 8 inches from handle to front and roughly about 6 inches tall. I have no idea how far back this goes in my family. For sale is a circa early 1900's R.H. MACY'S NEW YORK stoneware jug. The Jug is Brown on the top and White on the bottom. It measures approximately 101/2" in height and 7" in width. There are two small chips at the top portion of the jug opening as well as a small glaze line in the same area. there is also a 2/1/2" brown line which I cannot identify in the white part of the jug. It does not go all the way through. This was found in a old shed that has been untouched for atleast 40 or more years. I don't know the exact year of the jug, it is thought to be the 1800's. Joseph Pech along with his sons W. J. and Frank established the Buckeye Pottery in Macomb in 1882. Pech. Born in Bohemia on June 15, 1827, apprenticed for 12 years as a potter in Vienna, Austria. Buckeye Pottery was located on Carroll Street. Near the railroad. At the peak of its production. The company employed 20 individuals. The clay came primarily from Macomb County. Wares were marketed to Illinois. Nebraska, Iowa, and other western states. In 1939. Haeger Company purchased Buckeye Pottery and used the pottery to manufacture Haeger floral artware. Offering great antique stoneware jug that has a nice cobalt blue stamp on the front indicating it was made by Buckeye Pottery Company located in Macomb. Illinois. A 17th. century “Westerwald” salt glazed stoneware beer jug around 1690
From an old Dutch stoneware collection I’m offering a German beer jug. The jug was made in Westerwald in Germany at the end of the 17 th. century. The jug is decorated with leaves in manganese in a decorated grey square against a cobalt blue background. On top of the jug there is a pewter lid. Which dates according to my opinion, from a later date The condition of the jug is almost perfect, there are two very small hairlines in the handle and there is a crack in the foot(see pictures) furthermore there are no chips or restorations. You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. This stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age. No chips. Cracks, or repairs. The original cork is missing. The black transfer graphics are still ... morevery clear and crisp. There is a bit of black transfer ink on the neck of the jug. This was common as we mentioned they were hand stamped and obviously the worker who stamped the bottle had transfer ink on his hand. 19th c SALT GLAZE MOLD RELIEF JUG This auction is for a salt glaze jug in relief with numerous faces. Rams, and possible cherbs. I'm not very well versed on ceramics and pottery, but if I am reading the registration mark correctly, then this was produced in 1852. Except for some mottled staining on the exterior and a few darkened hairline cracks around the base. This jug is in fine condition. The hairlines are stable and may or may not be obvious in the pictures, the mottled staining appears to be a condition of age. Please review pictures to fully determine condition. Up for bid is a STONEWARE BATTER JUG with BRISTOL GLAZE- Nice Piece! Batter Jug is in very nice condition for age. No cracks that I can find. One chip on rim. Pic 9) Inside of jug appears to have some crazing or small spider crack lines(pic) however. Inside of jug feels smooth to the touch and no cracks are evident to the bottom of jug. Nice decoration to the ears of jug. Bail handle is in nice condition. Jug stands about 9 3/4" tall and bottom diameter is approximately 6 1/2" Jug may have been made in two pieces. Bottom half was turned and the top half may have been molded, then placed together and glazed.

An antique vintage pitcher jug with beautiful pink cabbage roses. Porcelain with some crazing and"darkening" particulary around the spout. 2 chips(one very small) on the back side of the foot of the pitcher. Neither distract from the loveliness of the piece in my opinion. Shabby Lovely! Cottage Chic! 7" tall X 7" wide at the"belly" of the pitcher. Some paint wear. Particulary on the roses on the back side-see photo#2. A lovely display piece despite its imperfections.

Western Stoneware Co., Monmouth Illinois 1 gallon top pattern shoulder jug
Antique. Western Stoneware Co. 1 gallon, top pattern Western Shoulder jug. Rare top patterned, No 1 in a maple leaf. Measures 10 1/4 inches tall and the base is 7 inches across. Has a very thin hair line crack on the spout(picture 7) but not bad. There is a mold defect when it was fired, and appears to have caused a glaze bubble which made the hole on top of maple leaf. This not a chip but occured during the firing process. Makes in unique. There is a chip on the bottom of jug which you cannot see when sitting on a surface. Comes from a smoke free home. Antique Stoneware: Rare L. Kendall Ovoid Jug w/ Cobalt, Chelsea, MA, ca.1840, NR
An uncommon 2Gal. Ovoid Jug from Massachusetts. Ca.1840's. This bears The cobalt-washed stamp of Loammi Kendall, who started a small stoneware manufactory around 1836 in Chelsea, just north of Boston. His production numbers were relatively small and his name is rarely mentioned in discussions of early New England potters(L. Watkins, pp.45-46) This appears to be one of Kendall's earlier Ovoids. The form is not perfect, and the top indented- most likely bottom-stacked in the kiln. The upper and lower handle terminals are primitively brushed with vibrant Cobalt, and there is a wonderful hand-carved stopper that sits perfectly in the spout. This piece has typical manufacturing imperfections(clay scars, stack marks, inclusions, etc. but no post-production flaws! Please see photos for further description and details. BEAUTIFUL 1 GALLON ANTIQUE STONEWARE/COBALT JUG featuring a handsome cobalt design. Jug is approximately 12" tall and the base diameter measures 7" There are no marker's marks. The handle is in great shape. There is. However, a chip out of the jug lip(see photo) It is quite smooth so it has probably been there for many years. There are a few small chips on the front(see photos) Again, they are smooth and appear quite old. There is a very thin and tight hairline 5" crack at the back of the jug which extends on to base of the jug- about 3" The jug appears quite stable and these imperfections do not distract from its charm and beauty. This little jug was in a box of my grandparents that I found in the barn the other day. They passed 25+ years ago and it has probably been there since then. My grandparents used to make homemade beverages and they would use old jugs to refill them with the homemade liquid. It is a cute. White, 6" earthenware jug that says, The Ozarks, Mountain Dew, and on the bottom there is a sticker that says, Made in the Ozarks. It is in perfect condition and would be excellant for a collector. A bellflower molded handle applied at the back. In good condition with an old chips on the rim of the hat at back and front. Kiln grit to hand holding goblet. Minor glazeware. Gorgeous Antique Copper Lustre Jug/Pitcher, Grn Accent
Up for a 3 Day Auction is this Gorgeous Copper Lustre Jug. Copper Lustre was rediscovered in the very early 19th century from an ancient Persian Overglaze.although one source mentions Iraq. Josiah Wedgwood really perfected the work. This sort of earthenware had it's heyday from 1820 till 1850 particularly in the Staffordshire Potteries. Albert Longton also produced this ware in the 1870's. This Jug has no maker's marks. There are swerves and flourishes. On each side are a dancing couple depicted from an earlier time. The colors are a deep copper. With green accents. The inside is a cream color. The height of the pitcher is 7 inches at the spout and 8 inches at the top of the handle. The base is 4 and a half inches in diameter but for space displacement. The width would be more like 6 inches. There are two surface chips one on ... moreeach side of the rim. There is a minor hairline just up from one of the chips. Just up from that is a small area that may have had a sticker. I think that it needs some goo-be-gone but I'm out.
