The crucifix itself is silver plated on brass with applied black wooden panels to the front cross arms and the body of Christ in brass. Swivels open sideways to reveal the relics and names of seven saints. Stamped GERMANY to back of crucifix. Obviously a piece of great age; silver plating has mostly worn away and there is a vacant hole to the top where I believe a screw fitting was once applied. Stays closed fine but easily replaced if desired. Measurements: 2.5" by 1.5" Weight: 26.08gms. Relic germany 13 saints cross crucifix corpus 4 1/4" L reliquary religious
Crucifix measures not including the screw 4 1/4" L x 2 1/8" W and is inlaid with Ebony wood and metal and is marked Germany. Inside there are 13 saints with relics and I can see cloth behind the center"Agnus Dei" but the piece was constructed through strict religious laws and I didn't want to start pulling it apart and ruining it. I'm not an expert and I have seen these with a 4 or 5 Saints so I'm going to describe what I see. You unscrew the bottom and it opens to reveal the relics inside and there are 13 Saints each with I believe their names written but some I can't make out the whole name so I will write down as much as I can see. What makes this Monstrance unique is that it still has its True Cross Relic inside of it. The back side of the Monstrance containing the relic can be removed by twisting for blessing or imposition of the relic for healing. The Monstrance has some loss of the gilding as seen in the pics and one small screw is also missing on the bottom of the relic holder ... morewhich does not detract from this rare item. The relic is original to the Monstrance as seen on the custom padded mounting. The Blessing Monstrance measures 7 inches in height and 2.75 inches wide.
