His original name was probably Caterina; because it took the name of Agnes when he entered the monastery. His mother. Ortolana, belonged to the noble family of the Fiumi, and her cousin Rufino was one of the"three companions" of Francis of Assisi. The Ines childhood was spent between paternal residence and the castle of Sasso Rosso on mount Subasio. March 18. 1212, his sister more clear, inspired by the example of Francis, left the home of his father and became a follower of the Saint. Sixteen days later, Inés retired to the monastery of San Angel in Panso, resolved to share the life of poverty and Penance of her sister. Furious at having lost two of his daughters, his father sent his brother Monaldo, and some relatives ... moreand followers armed to the monastery to force Clara and Agnes to return home. These reliquary cross's are not very common and are quite collectible. Especially this style. The inside compartment contains the relic of St. Theresiae as you can see in photos. The cross is a silver toned metal with a wood inlay. It measures approx. 6" x 3 1/4" Relic cross's that are this size are extremely rare. This is in excellent condition. The back of this relic has a red seal and the strings are intact. This relic has in the past been mounted in a larger altar stand with more relics but the whole altar was destroyed by woodworm. This is an antique reliquary of Monseigneur Louis-Zephirin Moreau. He was a Roman Catholic Priest and Bishop in Cananda. He was born on April 1. 1824 and died on May 24, 1901. This pendant is lined with red fabric on the inside and has a small square of fabric mounted on it. It probably came from Mgr. Moreau's robe or other article of clothing. On a small piece of paper inside it is printed with"Mgr. Moreau" It is in a brass setting. I did not open this piece up. It measures 1 1/3" tall not including the bail. It is in good condition.
