Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

The inside looks white on the photos, but it is much more subdued in real life. Weight is 5 lbs when empty. Exact age is unknown, but I am 59, and I remember my grandmother serving iced tea out of this same pitcher. I remember because I couldn't lift it when it was full as a child. Brown Glaze Salt Redware Pottery Hand Craft Pitcher Jug
I am selling for a family member. She has recently moved to a studio apartment from a large home and does not have room or the decor for her late brother's Asian treasures. He was an artist for a major card company whose companion was the Asian buyer for the corresponding luxury department store. The companion also brought back"treasures" for their own collections and the brother's home was decorated entirely Asian. The exception was some local pottery of which he had a small collection. This is a salt glaze type red ware or reddish brown glaze pitcher. It is signed on the bottom but it is very hard to read. Especially as I am unfamiliar with the artist. It appears to say Bimme or Bumme followed by a large flourished H. Next to the H is apparently the year the item with its applied leaf motif on the handle was made, it says ... more81. Below and connected to the H is a stylized flower or leaf. The piece has variations in the color and thickness of the glaze that appear to be intentional, and give the impression of age. It is in good used condition but was apparently used to hold some of his art supplies as there is some blue on the inside bottom. I have not attempted to remove this. It is overall a very appealing and warm looking piece and is around 3 3/4" tall and around 5" wide handle to spout. It would be my guess that it was made by an artist from the Kansas City area. My research shows this water pitcher to have been made by William& Thomas Adams(My Granny's Attic Antiques: UK Porcelain and Pottery Marks) They were in business from 1866-1900. Which put them during the"Aesthetic Movement" of 1860-1900. The pitcher measures 12 1/2" tall to the spout. Pattern is brown transfer. Marked on the bottom"W& T Adams England" with"Adelaide" stamped in a ribbon Handle is firm. But I would only recommend it to be used for display Sent via UPS to include insurance.

Very pretty English porcelain pitcher in lovely condition. Brown floral design on white. May be what is known as transfer ware. There are a couple of tiny glaze pops on the body about 4" below the spout.barely noticeabl e. I don't see any cracks or feel any chips. On the bottom of the pitcher is a rather blurry maker's mark that reads"Porcelaine Opaque. Trade Mark" then a blurry coat of arms below which is a word I can't make out, and below that is the word"England" Please refer to the last photo for a view of the entire mark. This would be gorgeous with a bunch of flowers in it. Or displayed in a pitcher collection.

Antique Vintage Warwick Pitcher 1 Quart 9.5 Inch 10GA Brown Flowers Both Sides
This pitcher came from an auction in Vermont. It is marked 10GA Warwick on the bottom. Warwick was out of Wheeling. West Virginia from 1887 through 1951. The pitcher has the brown shading background with light flowers on each side. It measures 9 1/2" high to the top of the spout. 6 1/2" from the handle to the tip of the spout, and about 5" in diameter at the widest point. It has some wear, see all pictures. There is a chip on the handle, see the 10th pictures, and a couple of surface chips/wear, see the 5th and 11th picture. The pitcher holds 4 cups when full. There is crackling in the glaze.

Offering for your consideration this beautiful set of Copeland brown tranferware. It includes pitcher and bowl and 4 misc. pieces they were all together in a local estate sale. The set contains the pitcher and bowl a smaller pitcher a shaving mug a soap dish with lid and what looks like some kind of hat pin holder. The soap dish lid is missing the handle and the bowl for the pitcher has a small chip on the edge(See Pic. otherwise the set is in excellent condition showing very little wear for its age. I believe that this is a older piece. More antique than vintage! It is marked, although I found the markings impossible to read, I actually gave myself a headache! What I was able to make out is: WARRANTED BONE CHINA? BROS&CO. What I do know, is that it is a extremely handsome pitcher, measures approximately 8 inches tall. Front and back are both covered with brown and white transferware scenes. Slight pedestal base and a beautiful handle and spout. There is a fair amount of gold detail and if I had to guess, I would say that this was English in origin.

England during the early to mid 1800s. The wash bowl and pitcher have large floral sprays with a printed geometric and floral background in brown transfer print. I do not know the exact name or manufacturer of this set, but it reminds of the patterns Minton produced in the early 1800s. Neither piece is marked. The bowl is scalloped and measures approximately 13" in diameter and stands about 4 1/2" tall. The pitcher stands approximately 10 5/8" tall and it has a nice sculpted handle with a squat paneled form. Item Condition: The overall condition of the set is excellent. Up for bid is a wonderfully glazed antique pottery pitcher. I do not know the maker. Condition: There is a chip on the rim inside right above where the handle is attached. See picture 5. There is also a feather crack as shown in picture 6. Crack is 4" long. Pinpoint spots where glaze is worn off. Pitcher is 9.5" tall and 6" across from handle to spout. Iridescent brown glaze- very attractive and a nice shelf piece.

For your consideration is this Antique Warwick Brown Transferware Water Pitcher Description: This is an antique. Brown transferware water pitcher, unmarked, but appears to be by Warwick. The pitcher's brown transferware depicts Roman/Greek pots, vases, and serving platter atop a leaf-scroll pattern shelf. This exact same design appears on both sides of the pitcher. The pots and vases pictured on this pitcher contain images of Greek/Roman mythological men and women. The top of the pitcher is bordered with a floral scroll design that is about 1 1/4" thick. The inside rim of the pitcher also has a brown border. The handle is decorated with a floral design and raised scroll design at the bottom of the handle. All of this beautiful artwork is a soft brown, which contrasts masterfully with the white pitcher. Antique Vtg ? Mochaware Mocha Ware Brown Cat Eye Slip Glaze Pitcher
Up for auction is a clay drip glaze pitcher that looks like mochaware. But I am not sure. I do not know the age of this piece. It stands 6 3/4" tall and is 4" across the opening. Antique CHOCOLATE PITCHER POT & 5 CUPS Pink Snowball Hydrangea DRAMATIC BROWN!
Very unusual DARK and DRAMATIC SET! This auction is for a Chocolate Pot or Pitcher and a set of FIVE(5) Matching Cups. Each is done in a dark Chocolate Brown color with a lighter area that has a vignette of big PINK SNOWBALL HYDRANGEA and LEAVES. Each piece is trimmed with GOLD along their rims. The pitcher has an unsusual fat body shape with a pinched in area to form the pour spout. Pitcher measures 7 inches tall and about 9 inches across from spout to outer edge of handle. The Cups or Mugs measure 3-5/8 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches across the top opening. You will see lots of crazing to the glaze on the inside of the cups and a bit of crazing underneath the base of the pitcher. There is one age crack in one cup that measures 1-1/2 inches long that DOES NOT go through to the outside. You will see some mild little white spots here and there ... morewhere the original brown glaze may have flaked off or had a little scratch. these spots are minuscule and are mentioned for sake of completeness only. There is some wear to the gold on the spout of the pitcher and along the upper rim and more"white spots" on the back side of the pitcher- more noticeable there. Also on the backside of the pitcher is a odd scuffle mark- like someone touched it with a wad of newspaper or something while the glaze was still wet. see the photograph so you can understand what I'm describing. These flaws sound terrible. But overall this set displays MAGNIFICENTLY! The coloring is so unusual and SO DRAMATIC! I would estimate these from the early 1900s or perhaps even earlier. No chips or cracks or repairs. I've never seen another set like it! NO maker's mark. Please ask any and all questions. this set is NOT perfect. But it is gorgeous and it will be sold AS-IS with no returns. This 7" tall pitcher has the handle coming from the lip in a continuous flow. It is a wide mouth and a curvy body. Which is why I described it as sexy. The handle is also formed very crudely and is uneven. There is a slight decoration on each side of the handle of a flower or dragonfly. It is hard to see because there are so many layers of glaze. The bottom is glazed and has blobs where it has collected on the underneath edge. I think it is very old and a little different. Please contact me if you have any questions.
