Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

We are offering in this listing an attractive& impressive Sunderland lustre English soft paste china pitcher/jug. We are estimating that this pitcher/jug was made circa 1859-1860's. From 1857 to 1859 repairs& reconstruction was done on the Sunderland bridge by Robert Stevenson. The bridge was stripped back to its six iron ribs& the hump was leveled in its middle by raising the abutments. The bridge was reopened in March 1859. As the pitcher/jug has the wording"New Bridge Over the Wear Sunderland" the pitcher would have been issued after the repairs were completed. The pitcher/jug measures 10 1/4 inches across the handle& spout by 7 1/2 inches tall. The top to the outside of the rim from left to right measures 5 3/8 inches& the base diameter is 5 5/8 inches. The pitcher/jug has a transfer decoration with hand ... morepainted color details of New Bridge at Sunderland. The other side has a transfer scene of" The Agamemnon in a Storm" with hand painted color details. The scene makes reference to a storm in June of 1809 which resulted in the wreck of the famous ship. HMS Agamemnon was a 64-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. She saw service in the American Revolutionary. French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and fought in many of the major naval battles of those conflicts. She is remembered as being Nelson's favorite ship, and was named after the mythical ancient Greek king Agamemnon, being the first ship of the Royal Navy to bear the name. The future Lord Nelson served as Agamemnon's captain from January 1793 for 3 years and 3 months. During which time she saw considerable service in the Mediterranean. After Nelson's departure, she was involved in the infamous 1797 mutinies at Spithead and the Nore, and in 1801 was present at the first Battle of Copenhagen, but ran aground before being able to enter the action. Up for auction is a very old pitcher and 6 mugs set. all have a Monk Portrait on them stamp on the bottom says, IOGA WARWICK CHINA WARWICK over the swords and 4 have A-1 in red. high glaze both inside and out. the pitcher is 10-1/2" high and the mugs are 3" high. two of the mugs are in bad condition they have repairs, done badly, the other four are in VG condition, the portraits are clear, all have specks of paint loss and crazing. one has a tiny chip by the rim. the pitcher is in wonderful condition, portrait is clear, NO chips, cracks, but there are specks of loss paint and crazing. it's a really old set, extremely collectable.

You are taking a look at an: Antique/Rare W. Ridgway& Co.Light Blue Salt Glaze Stoneware Pitcher/Jug. The pitcher is decorated with raised decoration depicting figures in tavern on one side and figures on horseback being chased by flying witches on the other. The handle is molded in the form of an arm and hand. The base is marked/impressed: Published by W Ridgway& Co. Hanley. October 1, 1835" As you can see in the photos this pitcher does have some wear and tear from age. It does have a chip on the bottom as well as close to the spout. This is a Beautiful Vintage Piece! Antique majolica figural fish pitcher 10 ¾ inches tall 19th century
This English majolica pitcher is in the shape of a fish and is 10 ¾ inches tall. These are often called gurgling fish pitchers. It is very nicely decorated. It is unmarked and we do not know the maker but it is English. It dates to the second half of the 19 th century. It is in very good condition and there are no chips. Cracks or repairs. There is some light crazing to the pink mouth white body.

Up for auction is this 10" tall x 6" diameter K et G Luneville France. Flow Blue Pitcher. The piece measures 7-1/2" from the spout to the widest point of the handle. It has a gold leaf design with white and yellow enamel accent dots. It is in very nice condition with the exception of a couple of things. First there is a 1-3/4" hairline crack on the bottom from the edge toward the middle. That goes through to the inside(it does not leak but it is there) Second there are 6 dots on the outside bottom and 3 on the outside top that are worn or chipped away(they are really unnoticeable, unless you are looking for an issue) The bottom is marked K et G Luneville France. It has a raised 1 in the center. There are no other cracks. Chips, repairs or crazing on this beautiful piece.

Does not have a pattern name. Chintz pattern is lots of pink roses on a black trellis with black and gray leaves. Pitcher is heavier than it looks and might be ironstone. But it's definitely stoneware. The pattern is a transferware pattern, but the piece has a handpainted black rim around the top edge. The handpainting on the handle isn't perfect and you can see that the lines aren't perfect, see photos. On the right side of the handle, some of the black line has worn away. Beautiful big Ironstone China Coxon& Co pitcher which has a pink Thistle pattern on both sides and top. No chips or cracks that I can see. But lots of crazing and as you see in the photos some off-coloring in the white, especially on the front bottom(unless that was supposed to be that way) My mother bought this vintage in the 70s. This listing is for an antique J W Pankhurst stone china pitcher. Marked Hanley. From information I found on this company, this would have been made from 1850 to 1852. It has heavy crazing, a small crack on the lip(see pic 3) and possibly a crack on the lower part of pitcher(see pic 4) This may be crazing, not sure. This also has discoloration. It is 10" tall. This shows wear but for something that is 160 years old, it is amazing it is in as good a condition as it is. A nice addition to a collection. Large Antique Parian Ware Pitcher of a Bower of Tree Roses - 10" Tall
Large. Octagonal parian ware pitcher from the mid-Victorian era, featuring a bower of roses branching off from the pitcher's handle. Really lovely lines to the pieces and superb relief work throughout. Even the spout features a tree trunk and you can see the veins in the leaves that decorate the body. No maker's mark for this lovely piece. I hope my pictures do justice to its beauty. The pitcher measures 10" tall from the base to the top of the handle. It is about 6 1/2" in diameter at its widest point. It weighs over 3 pounds so it's a substantial piece. No chips and no cracks except for what appears to be a faint star crack at the center of the base from firing. It doesn't extend into the interior and looks to have been glazed over. The pitcher is translucent when held to a bright light so it is Porcelain, not ceramic. The butterfly nymph has a pinkish-peach hue to her wings, a flowing gown, and hair floating upward to the scalloped rim of the pitcher. Her body stands out from the side of the pitcher with high relief. The back of the pitcher has the train of her dress raised in a drape fashion.
