Antique Brown & Mustard Decorated Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Folk Pottery old
Here's a beautiful. 19th century redware pitcher in very good condition! Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. It has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part ... moreof a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

Buffalo Pottery Porcelain Wash Basin & Pitcher Antique Floral HP Transfer Signed
Buffalo Pottery Porcelain Wash Basin& Pitcher Buffalo Pottery Demi Porcelain Wash Basin And Pitcher Circa 1880 Pitcher Height: 11in Basin Dia 17in Each transfer decorated with pink and yellow roses green leaves gilt accents Marked at the base with a buffalo A beautiful antique Chamber set rescued from an estate of a wonderful woman who collected the most beautiful items in her life. Although the basin has survived over 100 years. It has several stress cracks that render it very fragile, but stunning on display nevertheless. Of course there is crazing! The pitcher is very near perfect except for a few flaws. But it is very stable to handle. Truly a conversation piece that should make you proud to show off. Buffalo Pottery was named for the New York city in which it originated. But the reason the brand became so successful had nothing to ... moredo with bison or location. The Buffalo Pottery story began when the owner of the Larkin Soap Company decided to commission a limited edition soap dish to hype flagging sales while differentiating the brand from competitors. Over time, Buffalo Pottery products grew more popular than the soap so the same genius marketer who came up with the idea for the soap dish premium(Mr. Larkin) diversified his holdings and opened a pottery business. The Buffalo Pottery Company survived the requisite growing pains and never failed to produce the finest pottery in the northeast. Today, Buffalo Pottery pieces command a respectable price at auction and are eagerly sought by loyal collectors. It's easy to identify a Buffalo Pottery piece-and you don't have to turn the pottery over to look for the logo. Whether shaped into plates or pitchers. The olive green clay is so unique, nobody has been successful in achieving it's signature colorations. A typical finished piece might have a deep teal rim, then fade into a softer, muted teal and end with a khaki center. Rea was capable of producing blues that rivaled sapphires and greens inspired by emeralds. Classic fades to lighter colors on th

Antique Decorated Ovoid Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Mottled Folk Pottery old
This time we have an early piece of decorated redware pottery in very good. Well-preserved condition. Dating to the middle 19th Century, this lead glazed pitcher has beautiful coloring that was achieved through the use of oxides. It's primarilly green inside and out with mustard and orange colored mottling all over. On the interior, the green turns to mustard at the bottom third of the piece where the surface is worn from use. On the exterior, an area that varies from 3/4 inch to 2 inches from the bottom wasn't glazed, nor was the underside. The original red clay surface was left exposed and an old, grungy patina resulted from past use and the passage of time. Carved into the bottom are the initials"A.S. In addition, this old piece has whimsical, white-yellow floral decorations on opposite sides, adding even more folksy charm. ... moreThe exterior glaze shows wear and tear. Mostly surface scratches from coming in contact with other items. Also, there are a pair of contact marks where it was touching other pieces while being fired. As mentioned earlier, the interior has some loss of glaze but the clay surface is not eroded. Glaze was also worn off on the opening rim and the edges of the handle. There are only a couple of old chips on the rim, none elsewhere. While writing this description we noticed a 2 1/2" line in the back, under the handle, that looks like a very tight hairline. It doesn't appear to go all the way through to the interior and can't be felt when running a finger or fingernail across it. While we like to fully disclose all flaws to the best of our ability, these are really just indicators of heavy use and are helpful in authentication. Redware pottery was used for common, everyday purposes; it was not considered anything special. Surviving examples are often found with significant damage so this early pitcher was well cared for throughout its history. Heavier than it looks, this piece is solid, rugged, and structurally sound. It stands 10 inches tall and has a base diameter of 4

Hi. For sale a small antique redware pitcher or creamer. The pitcher is cream colored with hand painted brown slip glaze Pennsylvania Dutch Tulips. Leaves, dots and lines. There is a chip on the bottom rim painted band(see picture) There is some crazing and some paint is wearing off due to age. I took close up pictures to show the paint fading and crazing. Unique Primitive 19th Century French Clay Pottery Pitcher Confit Pot Antique
This is a unique 19th century large French pottery pitcher with a handle and minimal pouring spout. Glaze is mustard gold interior and exterior top half and cream/grey bottom half. Appears to be red clay underneath. The design resembles brick work or a stone wall made of crudely painted marks in green glaze. Probably southern France. Came from an estate with many 19th century French pottery pieces(I have 4 of them, if you don't see them in my other listings please ask) Most of these pottery pieces from that region have flaws in glaze and clay which give them character and this one has many, it is quite primitive. There is crazing/tiny cracks to glaze typical for age. There are no cracks in the clay; there is one chip on the upper rim near the handle and glaze missing underneath the chip on the pitcher vessel. Some of the glaze on the ... moreupper rim is worn off, which is common. It is a beautiful piece and goes well with the other one I have for sale. Please see photos for anything not mentioned here as part of the item description. Measurements: 6" diameter upper rim and base(interior upper rim is 4.5" diameter) and 8.25" tall. Mustard Yellow Ware Pitcher Kitchen Stoneware Vintage Pottery Primitive Antique
Great Primitive Yellow Ware Pitcher I have had this pitcher for a very long time. Its time to let it go. The pitcher if very heavy and a bright shade of mustard yellow. I think the third picture shows the true color of the pitcher the best. No cracks or chips. There is crazing throughout the pitcher and glaze lines. The handle looks applied and the base is ribbed. It appears very primitive due the crudeness of the pottery. Meaning there are a lot of pottery lines and unevenness. There are rough lines inside the pitcher. These are not cracks but from the pottery making process. A really pretty pitcher. Measures: 8 1/2" tall Base is 4 1/4" Width is about 8" including handle and 6" without the handle. Weight of pitcher: 3 lbs 5oz No identifying marks. If you thump the pitcher with your finger the ring is a thud meaning it ... morewas most likely made in the US.
ANTIQUE 1800'S WHITES OF UTICA STONEWARE PROSIT JUG / PITCHER NY POTTERY -RELIEF
Up for your consideration is a very early unique stoneware beer jug/ pitcher from the late 1800's classified as WHITES OF UTICA NY POTTERY PROSIT. Piece is extremely well made weighing 4 1/2 LBS and measuring 11 Inches X 8 1/2 Inches. Pitcher is very ornate with many different decorative standards and reliefs. It is very unusual to find such High Relief Molding on Whites Stoneware which makes this a highly decorative piece. Also of note is the very unusual serpent or snake handle. Each side depicts men of nobility from the time period of creation(1800's) Above each human relief lies a cobalt blue dog head on each side. These heads used to house a wire handle(which is missing) The spout is molded in the relief of a bulldog. The bottom is marked with the letter"C" or"E" or"3" The name Prosit refers to a ... moreGerman idiom that means"To your good health" or"A toast to you! This is an extremely good example of early American Pottery and are becoming harder and harder to find! A great investment piece as well as eye grabbing decorative display! Any questions please ask!

Antique/Vintage Pink Floral Hand Painted Lrg Pitcher Unmarked Porcelain Pottery
This auction is for an antique hand painted floral pink& white pitcher. The pitcher is very old. Most likely from between 1900-1940, but possibly earlier. The piece is unmarked. There is visible damage due to its very old age but the pitcher is still so pretty it is still worth displaying as it is. There is severe crazing and cracks throughout. There is a large crack on the front that starts at the rim and goes down and stops at the floral area. There is also a chip on the tip of the pitcher spout. You can see all of these areas in the pictures. The pitcher is still very well in tact and does not run the risk of cracking any more as long as it is taken care of. It is made of a very thick, durable and firm porcelain glass- that is why it has lasted all these years in spite of the rough handling it has taken. It is a large sized milk pitcher ... moremeasuring 8" tall and 6.5" wide with the handle. The base measures a 5" diameter and the top opening measures a 3.5" diameter. 6" T Incredible Antique Handmade Unusual Masterful Porcelain/Pottery Pitcher
Defining the materials used to construct this rarefied piece is dear near impossible(due to our lack of expertise perhaps) But after our decades of handling all forms of materials we have to say it would probably be difficult for anyone in the field. It is extremely light and very thin-walled and unusual in that you can easily see how the floral designs were applied to the shoulders. Our photographer has made every attempt to get a peek inside the vessel and even the bottom has been very difficult to show as it is revealed to the in-person eye. It is extremely fragile. We have taken care through all these years not to hold it by its handle or lip for fear of breaking it with its somewhat eggshell construction. The creatively poured luscious rich chocolate color streams on all parts of the base light brown coloring. Emphasizing its full beauty. ... moreIt has a handsome foot and simply is altogether lovely and proud of its very rare appearance. A treasure from the collection we must part with now for the ultimate collector. NOTE: We promise to take extreme caution for shipping with double boxing and tender materials for wrapping and packaging due to its fragile nature. Size is 6-1/8” in height by 5-1/4” wide by 4-1/4” deep( 15.6 cm in height by 13.3 cm wide by 10.8 cm deep) Please see all our items in our ongoing collection dispersal. We will be adding things at least three times a week.

Large Antique Arab Pottery Pitcher 1877 English Registry Mark
This auction is for a rare early English earthenware pottery pitcher. The pitcher is decorated with the pictures of a desert and a men riding a camel. It is accented with elaborate trim around the top rim. All decorations are done in blue on a white background under the glaze. The pitcher bares multiple marks at the bottom. One of the marks is the English Registry mark that dates this pitcher to March of 1877. There is also an ARAB mark and a F&E Trade Mark as well as a small cross-like mark with two small dots. I am not familiar with these marks other than the English Registry one and therefore cannot identify the manufacturer of this magnificent. Old piece of earthenware. It stands an impressive 10.5" tall and is about 8.5" wide at its widest point. It is in very good condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. ... moreThere is some slight ware of the gilding around the top rim and on the handle. Antique Fleur-de-lis Pottery Pitcher English French Majolica dk green Victorian
Very interesting looking antique pottery pitcher with a beautiful Fleur-de-Lis pattern. Pretty glaze is a deep gray green. Almost black, with white raised design. I think it is probably English or French, possibly majolica but I'm not sure. No maker's mark and I am guessing at the age-possibly late 1880-1920 but could be later. Chip on bottom, where it doesn't show, 2-3 teeny chips that do show, please see photos. Also tiny spots of beige paintand 2-3 larger spots of beige paint-someone was painting and splattered-I will let the new owner take care of that as I don't want to ruin the glaze. A lot of crazing and crackling. No obvious repairs or cracks. Measures 6 inches high 4 1/2 inch diameter opening 6 3/4 inches across overall Co-ordinates well with"Midnight Race" plate I also have listed currently-see last photo. ... moreThis auction is for the pitcher only.
