$20.00 Shipping Location: Lititz, United States LOT# 381 Detailed Photos. Click to enlarge. Estate Road Show. Item Description. We are pleased to offer this Large Antique American Oval Band/ Pantry ... moreBox with original mustard painted Surface. Bentwood Construction. 19th Century. Measures 14.5 x 14.5 and 6.5 tall. This is a fantastic example of a early pantry box and would make a great addition to your collection or shop inventory. Some age related appropriate wear, split to lid. Displays nicely. No matter how technologically advanced Americans have become in the years since the Mayflower first dropped anchor, one thing has consistently plagued housekeepers, critters in the pantry. Colonial women kept dairy products and grains well away from the cooking hearth, in small rooms called butteries. Like todays homemakers, they fought an ongoing battle to keep bugs and mice away from flour, sugar, and other dry comestibles whose storage posed a problem until the introduction of covered stoneware crocks and their even more expedient successor, the pantry box. Food storage boxes were imported from Europe until American factories began producing them during the late 18th century. Some were varnished plain wood, but many were painted in pretty colors that brightened a plain corner when stacked floor-to-ceiling. Even the Shakers, who shunned worldly excess, often finished their immaculately constructed by boxes in cheerful shades of blue, red, yellow, and green. Typically, pantry boxes were issued in nesting sets of graduated size, with the largest meant for storing slabs of cheese or butter, the smallest for pills or spices, and the in-between sizes for everything else. Each had a snug-fitting lid. Research Consulted: Wallace-Homestead, Price Guide to American Country Antiques, pg. 70; Collecting Americana by Matthew Bowye; The new and revised catalog of American Antiques by William C. Ketchum. Antique Brown & Mustard Decorated Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Folk Pottery old
Here's a beautiful. 19th century redware pitcher in very good condition! Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. It has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part ... moreof a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

Antique English Ironstone Pitcher & Basin Washstand Set Victorian 19th Century
Antique English Ironstone Pitcher& Basin Washstand Set Victorian/ 19th Century ~~~~ This set features a lovely Victorian Bluish-Green Ink Floral Pattern. ~~~~ I could not find a hallmark on either piece. They were purchased in the UK. ~~~~ This is a nice matched set that has been well-cared for and is in remarkable shape. Both pieces show signs of use and age but given they are a hundred years old. It does have a small chip in the bottom footring. ~~~~ The wash basin measures approximately 16” across and 6.5” tall. It does have a small crack of about 2” The wash basin has some brown discoloration and a small red mark that I was unable to remove. ~~~~ They are packed in an(oversize) large ... morebox with ample buffering material for protection during shipment.

Antique Decorated Ovoid Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Mottled Folk Pottery old
This time we have an early piece of decorated redware pottery in very good. Well-preserved condition. Dating to the middle 19th Century, this lead glazed pitcher has beautiful coloring that was achieved through the use of oxides. It's primarilly green inside and out with mustard and orange colored mottling all over. On the interior, the green turns to mustard at the bottom third of the piece where the surface is worn from use. On the exterior, an area that varies from 3/4 inch to 2 inches from the bottom wasn't glazed, nor was the underside. The original red clay surface was left exposed and an old, grungy patina resulted from past use and the passage of time. Carved into the bottom are the initials"A.S. In addition, this old piece has whimsical, white-yellow floral decorations on opposite sides, adding even more folksy charm. ... moreThe exterior glaze shows wear and tear. Mostly surface scratches from coming in contact with other items. Also, there are a pair of contact marks where it was touching other pieces while being fired. As mentioned earlier, the interior has some loss of glaze but the clay surface is not eroded. Glaze was also worn off on the opening rim and the edges of the handle. There are only a couple of old chips on the rim, none elsewhere. While writing this description we noticed a 2 1/2" line in the back, under the handle, that looks like a very tight hairline. It doesn't appear to go all the way through to the interior and can't be felt when running a finger or fingernail across it. While we like to fully disclose all flaws to the best of our ability, these are really just indicators of heavy use and are helpful in authentication. Redware pottery was used for common, everyday purposes; it was not considered anything special. Surviving examples are often found with significant damage so this early pitcher was well cared for throughout its history. Heavier than it looks, this piece is solid, rugged, and structurally sound. It stands 10 inches tall and has a base diameter of 4

Antique English White Relief Molded Pitcher, Cattails, 19th Century Ridgway & Co
Fantastic molded relief pitcher. English, Marked October 1, 18_ There is a bubble in the glaze and I cannot read the exact year but this is from a collection of English Pitchers from the early to mid 1800's. The mark on the bottom also says"Published by W. Ridgway& Co, Vanley. The label that is shown is as found from a Maryland antique shop. The piece is glazed inside and out. 9-1/2" tall and 8-3/4" from the outermost part of handle to tip of spout. Wonderful detail. No crazing which is remarkable for the age of this piece. Another great find from"Jodye's Vintage Finds" on ebay.

STUNNING 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE EMBOSSED WHITE PITCHER
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY STUNNING AND RARE 19TH CENTURY WHITE EMBOSSED PITCHER. IT HAS AN INTRICATE AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGN THROUGHOUT WITH A LOVELY CURVED HANDLE AND STANDS 10 1/2" TALL. IT IS PROBABLY FROM ENGLAND. BUT DOES NOT HAVE A MARK WHICH WAS NOT UNUSUAL AT THE TIME. AT FIRST LOOK THE PITCHER LOOKS PRFECT. IT HAS NO CHIPS OR LARGE CRACKS, BUT ON FURTHER INSPECTION YOU CAN SEE A LONG THIN CRACK THAT GOES FROM THE BACK TOP NEAR THE HANDLE AND THEN DOWN AND AROUND TO THE BOTTOM. IF THIS WILL BE USED AS A DISPLAY PIECE, THERE ARE NO ISSUES FROM THE FRONT OR 1 SIDE. THIS DOES AFFECT THE VALUE AND BECAUSE OF IT, I HAVE PRICED IT LOW. IF PERFECT, IT WOULD BE WORTH MANY HUNDREDS OF $'S BECAUSE OF IT'S BEAUTY AND RARITY. IT STILL LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AND IS A WONDERFUL DISPLAY PIECE FOR YOUR COLLECTION.

Antique ALBANY SLIP Glazed Stoneware Pitcher Mid 19th Century
We are pleased to offer a beautiful antique stoneware pitcher. Finished in dark brown Albany Slip glaze. It has a smooth finish with quite a bit of glaze drip on the lower portion of the piece. A very nice find! Pottery makers across upstate New York turned out millions of pieces of utilitarian stoneware in the 19th century. It was not considered valuable and as such. Was not preserved or well cared for. Much of it was finished in a dark brown glaze called Albany Slip. The glaze was high in mineral content which accounts for the variations in color- it can be almost black to lighter shades of brown. The firing process caused color variations as well. Many of the pieces show the fingerprints of the pottery who dipped the piece into the glaze before firing. We will be offering a number of these pieces in the coming weeks. They are great for ... moreaccenting country or primitive decor. Please be sure to add us to your and check back often. Condition: Excellent- no chips or cracks. Size: 7 1/2" tall; 5 1/4" diameter at the opening and 4 3/4" diameter at the base. Shipping: Buyer to pay actual shipping costs; insurance is included as a handling fee. We are happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases. Please note that customs fees are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Returns: If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason. Antique Early 19th Century Mocha Ware Ceramic Cream Pitcher
Antique Early 19th Century Mocha Ware Ceramic Pitcher This nice little cream pitcher is a piece of early 1800s Mocha Ware. A factory-made slipware that was refined earthernware decorated with colored slip and mass produced. Ware of this variety was manufactured by British, French, and North American potters from the late 18th Century to the late 19th Century. The pattern on this pitcher consists of banding on top and bottom, applied with a slip pot that the worker used to trail the colored slip on the pot as it rotated in front of him. This old piece has a lovely banded pattern plus some additional decorative molded design on the applied handle. The pitcher measures 4" tall. About 5 1/4" wide across the handle and spout, and about 3 3/4" in diameter across the belly. Mocha Wear was one of the first factory mass produced ceramics. ... moreAnd it became enormously popular for everyday use. It was tough and pretty and often was referred to as Tavern Ware(after its' use became popular in such places! This piece has definitely seen some use, and it bears the scars of its' workaday history- don't forget it is 200 years old! It has some loss of banding slip and a number of cracks- the most obvious being the one on the base(an old repair of a broken base rim) There also is a crack in the upper part of the handle and some rubbing on the rim and base. Still, the pitcher is a nice old piece, and it would be a great gift for someone who collects antique ceramics, for a historian, or for an historical archaeologist interested in assembling a"type collection" of 18th century wares. I've enjoyed it for many years, but it is time to thin out my collections now, so I'm hoping to find this old girl a new home. Please note: Paypal is required for payment. And payment should be completed within 4 days of the close of bidding. I wrap and pack very carefully and ship USPS priority. I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple items. So do check out my other listings. Please feel free to email

Appears to be red clay underneath. The design resembles brick work or a stone wall made of crudely painted marks in green glaze. Probably southern France. Came from an estate with many 19th century French pottery pieces(I have sold all the others) Most of these pottery pieces from that region have flaws in glaze and clay which give them character and this one has many, it is quite primitive. There is crazing/tiny cracks to glaze typical for age. There are no cracks in the clay; there is one chip on the upper rim near the handle and glaze missing underneath the chip on the pitcher vessel. Some of the glaze on the upper rim is worn off, which is common. It is a beautiful ... morepiece. Please see photos for anything not mentioned here as part of the item description. Measurements: 6" diameter upper rim and base(interior upper rim is 4.5" diameter) and 8.25" tall. The last 2 photos are of a similar piece filled with irises that was in an opening scene of 1930's England in the movie The Hours. It is the only other with these markings I have seen except the second one I sold last year. I do not ship breakables Parcel Post. Sorry- I pack well and ship FAST!

1800s 19th Century Antique Majolica Pitcher Floral - Dogwood Blossoms and Branch
Here is a wonderful piece of very old majolica. I know very alittle about it except I picked it up at an estate sale. The posessions were of a 93 yr old woman. Antique Staffordshire Pearlware Cream Syrup Pitcher 19th Century England
This is a small size pitcher either for cream or syrup. It measures 4" tall and all over pearl like solid cream color. The design is on one side of a lady leaning into a young girl. It appears they are seated within a grape arbor which continues around the pitcher. There is no damage on this piece which I believe dates from 1870's or 80's and is clearly of English Staffordshire region. A classic English countryside look. Email with questions or information. Thanks for looking and please check my other listings.
