Antique Mahogany/Rosewood Wall Panel - Architectural Salvage - Library/Bar Wood
Available here is an antique wall panel made of an exotic cut of mahogany or possibly rosewood. This is SOLID wood. Not veneer! This kind of thing is just not available anymore. This listing is for one panel. Although we have five of these available and would welcome making a deal for all. We also have nine accent panels that are approximately 12" x 66" if a buyer is interested in them all. These would be perfect wall panels for a library. Study or bar. The size is about 28" by 66" from molding to molding. That does not include the support pieces which are outside of the molding. I don't believe the framing wood to be mahogany/rosewood. However the wood within the molding is quite exotic. The panel can stand up as pictured. Or be laid on its side to cover more area on a wall. The paneling is tiger oak and is done with craftsmanship that is not seen anymore! The ornate crown molding is gesso over wood. It is done so well that it truly looks like carved wood. Vintage Salvage Decorative Relief Wood Panel
Estate sale purchase. So age& history unknown, though it looks to be quite old. Quite honestly, I do not know what this was a part of originally. It is a beautiful wood panel that has a deep dark brownish red finish with an antique rub. The flash of the camera has made the finish look a little more red than it is in person. The"frame" part is a dark wood stain. It has a great relief design. The back side is finished as well, which has some wear to the finish(photo#6) The panel is finished on three of the edges, and is unfinished on the other(see last photo) That edge is the top when wall mounted, so cannot be seen. Serious Deep Relief Carved Arch Top Never Finished Wood Panel
If you look closely at the workmanship on this panel you will become mesmerized. To think that someone would imagine a 16” by almost 2” rectangular block of wood could reveal the elaborate foliage this now has boggles the mind. You might think the leaves and flowers were“whittled” out and then glued to the board but you would be wrong. This panel is completely relief carved from a single block of wood. It was never stained or finished. Sadly there are some sharp tips of leaves and flowers that have chipped off. These chips are insignificant to the overall piece and really take very little away from its appeal. It is 15.5” x 8” x 1.5”
