The embossed writing on the bottom is 1/2 of an inch tall and says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING; however due to sloppiness during manufacturing, some of this writing is indecipherable. The handle was attached by hand and was attached at an angle; this and other manufacturing defects make this jug unique. This jug was touching another piece of stoneware during firing and when the two pieces were separated, the other piece got off with some of this jug's glaze from the handle and side. This is an unusual whiskey/moonshine jug with the wire and wood handle. It is about 9 1/2" to top of jug and is almost 7" across the bottom. This is an old jug and the wire handles are bent. The chip on the top is just glaze deep and the one on the bottom is not bad. Considering the life these had it is a wonder they survived. Not sure how much it holds. Maybe 2 gals or less. It stands about 11 inches high to the top of the handle. It is 6 ¾ inches in diameter on the bottom. The bail handle is made of wood and is weathered. The wire is rusted. Please keep in mind this jug is antique and handmade. Has a very small chip out of the top of the handle but other than that it is in pristine condition with all the normal manufacturer/glazing defects. It's an old jug and I was told it was made approx. between 1850 to 1899. It is NOT a reproduction. It does have a makers mark just below the neck of the jug but I cannot read it. Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Glazed Gallon Jug w/ Handle Gorgeous Heavy
Up for sale is a vintage/antique brown stoneware gallon jug I purchased at an estate sale. It appears to be in decent condition with some minor wear and tear. I do not see any cracks in the handle or on the piece itself. Just some flaws in the finish which were common in the making of these jugs. Each was hand made, so every one is individual and it's own work of art. The top is glazed brown and it has one handle on the side of the spout. The base is thicker and is stoneware. There is no makers mark, so I am unsure on how old this piece is or where it was made or by whom. All I know is this is a very solid, heavy, quality made piece that upon looking at it, one can tell it was handmade. brown tan stoneware jug crock vase with handle
I love this stone crock or jug some might say. But I have no idea how old it is. It might be handmade because I can't find any markings on it. The brown trim paint is slightly thicker in one area than the other. Another reason to think it's homemade. There are slight imperfections. It is pretty and it does hold water if you wanted to use it for a vase. There is a small area in the bottom where the paint or glaze is missing. It is just a little over 8 inches tall and almost 7 inches wide at the widest point. The very top is about 5 inches wide. Cool item! Please study pics as I said there are small imperfections. Shipping is high, The crock is heavy but it will be packaged very well to arrive safely.

Vintage 6.75" Stoneware Shoulder Jug with Finger Handle, Tan & Brown, USA Mark
Little Brown Jug Stoneware Shoulder Jug with Finger-Handle Two-Tone Brown(Tan and Dark Brown) Marked USA T his listing is for a very folks stoneware jug marked with an incised USA mark. In a two-tone brown glaze. There is an applied neck and handle with room for one finger. The jug measures 6.75 inches high at the top of the handle, 1-1/8 inches wide across the neck, and 4.25 inches wide across the footring. The jug is in very good condition. There is a small indented spot on the front of the rim lip. But it is under the glaze and original to manufacture. There are also a couple of pinpoint-size glaze pops, also original to firing. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. The only mark I can find is an incised. Underglaze mark for"USA. The"S" is a bit larger than the U and A, which sometimes indicates a piece made by Brush Pottery.

Antique Salt Glaze Stoneware Pottery 1/2 Gallon Jug with Handle
The Stoneware Jug is 10" High. and the Diameter is 5 1/2" The Jug has a Serrated Bottom. There are No Cracks or Major Chips. There is One Small Old Chip on the Edge of the Bottom and 2 Tiny Chips on the Outside Edge of Spout. There is 2" Line of Glaze Wear. Which can be seen in Photos 3& 4. Overall, the Jug is in Good Condition for the Age!
