Rare Antique Killgerm Co. Ltd. Cleckheaton Poison Stoneware Jug
This jug is 13 1/2" tall. 7" in diameter and weighs 8 lbs. This item was bought at an estate sale from a pottery collector in Greensboro, North Carolina about 15 years ago. The nicest feature on this is the threaded ceramic stopper that still has the rubber seal on it. The glaze is in great condition. Upon researching this item I found the company is in England and still in business, this is the response I received: Hello Fred What a find so far away from its original home! I have made some enquiries among the directors here at Killgerm and have the following information for you. The Killgerm Company Limited was founded in Cleckheaton. West Yorkshire in 1893 and was sold in 1966. The company produced disinfectants and we believe this container was used to pack off these products. The present company, Killgerm Chemicals Limited, ... morewas formed in 1976. These containers were not around when Raymond Harrop. Our Commercial Director, joined the company in 1967 and he can only guess when these were used, circa 1930/40's. For your further information, we have one to match it in our boardroom here at head office. I will ship this international if buyer is willing to pay additional cost. Happy bidding! Posted with

Rare antique 1830s marked Stephen Green brown stoneware pistol flask
We are listing this very rare antique brown stoneware pistol flask from the 1830s. Impressed on top Stephen Green Imperial Potteries Lambeth. The flask is 8 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and is very realistically detailed(and well-glazed) As usual with these old pistol flasks, it is missing its trigger guard and the top of its hammer, and there are a few rubs on the glaze. Even with these flaws, this is a very desirable collectors' item, and displays very well. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending. Be sure to check out our other current and upcoming auctions of hundreds of antique and vintage objects in glass. Pottery, porcelain, silver, etc.

Antique Rare E.Wentworth Norwich, Conn. Ovoid Stoneware Jug
Antique Rare E.Wentworth Norwich. Conn. Ovoid Stoneware Jug 11 1/2" tall x 8" wide( at widest point) Does have some cobalt blue markings. Impressed in blue it is marked E. Wentworth Norwich Weighs about 5 1/2 lbs. While other forms of ceramics became more widely available during the 1800s. Local potters continued to produce the ever-popular stoneware. In Norwich, Armstrong& Wentworth and Sidney Risley were two well-known 19th-century stoneware manufacturers. Peleg Armstrong was married to Erastus Wentworth’s sister. The partners purchased the Norwich pottery business of William Cleaveland in 1814. This jug is made by E. Wentworth only so I assume it was made before 1814 when he was partnered with Peleg Armstrong. A lot of the jugs I found were done by Armstrong and Wentworth. Great Condition! Does have a very small chip on bottom ... moreand top( please see pictures for a better description)

Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Jug Dark Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Wide Mouth!!
Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! This is a great old jug and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home! Please note that I will be having a knee replacement soon so that this listing and all my others will be ending during the second week of October. If not before, and I do not know when they will resume. If you see something you like and have been watching, I suggest you bid soon.

As featured in the individual photos. Some antiques put a smile on my face. And this is one of them– the fact that a piece with such an obvious kiln defect still made it out of the factory is both a sign of the times, and of the high demand for“face jugs” German Bellarmine stoneware flagons are one of the most distinctive and sought-after types of early Continental ceramics. I’ve been a fan of them for decades, and due to my increasing level of contact with German collectors& dealers, have acquired twenty in the past few months, along with numerous other pieces of German lighting, metalwork, stoneware& pottery, mostly dating from 1550 to 1780. I have recently purchased English collector Alex Wright’s 2-volume survey of Bellarmines& other German stoneware from his collection(pub. 2009& 2011. By Albion Antiquities Publishing) and severa

It does have some small flaws as follows: a chip in the bottom beading, a chip above the top beading, slight rubbing on the lip of the spout and Bacchus' nose, a chip off the bottom of the handle and a small flaw on the handle, and some typical separation cracks on the sprigs(none of these affect the overall display of this very unusual piece- see the close up pictures) We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. Rare 1832-1845 Samuel & John Burton highly glazed relief molded stoneware jug
We are listing this striking highly glazed relief molded stoneware jug by the rarely seen makers Samuel and John Burton(only in business between 1832 and 1845) This impressive jug is almost 7.5 inches tall. 8.5 inches at its widest point, and marked on the bottom with a raised cartouche impressed with S& J B over No 6. A smaller, cracked, and gilded, white version of the jug is pictured and described on page 162 of the book An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs. There is a strainer inside the listed jug and a lip around the inside, so at one time there was some type of lid for it(the other version of the jug had no lid either, so I'm not sure what it would have looked like) This jug is quite attractive and in excellent condition- there is a tiny flake of glaze off the strainer, and another tiny flake of glaze off the body of the jug(see ... morethe close up picture) This is a very nice jug by a very rare maker. Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. This will be carefully bubble-wrapped and shipped with Styrofoam peanuts surrounding ... moreit for safe delivery to its new home. Good luck and thanks for your interest.

Ebay recommended I put gray in my title, but my mother has some other stoneware that really is gray. This seems more of a buff or tan color to me. Anyway, it has a strap handle and blue brush marks, chips to the opening as shown, otherwise no chips, cracks or breaks. This is a very scarce, fine antique stoneware jug. Buyer makes payment thru Paypal and pays shipping based of $30. Payment due w/in 3 days and all sales are final. RARE mid-1800s Beaver PA USA Hand-Drawn COBALT ART STONEWARE Jug w/Possum Tracks
Beautiful mid 1800's Beaver PA Cobalt Stoneware Jug with Hand Drawn Vine Art Decor& Possum Tracks- Our'stoneware contacts' attribute this Jug to Russell or Hamilton. But item is sold As Pictured. No guarantees. Jug is 12" x 8" 1 Gallon approx. and weighs 7-8 pounds. Study pictures to view condition. Slight imperfections& wear associated with age, and possum tracks. Item will be properly packaged and insured for full purchase value. The first stoneware pottery manufacturing to take place in Beaver County was probably that produced by James and William Hamilton. Sons of a Moon Township(now Center Township) farmer, in the town of Bridgewater. The exact location of their operation is not known at the present time, but we do know that they obtained their clay from a hillside near the confluence of Brady's Run ... moreand the Beaver River, around 1840. This date can be confirmed by a listing in the 1841 Bridgewater Business directory showing James and William L. Hamilton as potters. The Hamiltons produced utilitarian salt glazed stoneware in the form of jars, crocks, and jugs decorated with cobalt blue flowers, vines and lined embellishments in the typical German or tutonic tradition. in 1847. Russell purchased property in Boro Township. It was probably at this time that he began to produce stoneware marked, R.W. Russell(with and without"Beaver Pa. as his trademark. Many of the pieces produced by the Russell pottery were decorated with unusual leaf and flower designs sometimes coming from both sides of the piece and meeting in the center. The Russell pottery is shown on the map of Boro Township in the Caldwells Centennial Atlas of 1876. It was located near the confluence of Mudlick Creek and Two Mile Run. The R.W. Russell pottery continued operation until approximately 1869. When the elder Russell passed away and the operation was taken over by his son Albert. Albert Russell, who had started working at the pottery as a young boy, continued the operations as his father had taught him and w

Rare Cobalt Stoneware Crock 19th Century Antique Butter Churn Jug Westerwald
Up for bid is an incredibly rare 10 Liter Cobalt Blue Stoneware Jug Complete with Wooden Butter Churn. Likely dates to the 1870's-1880's. I cannot find many examples where the Cobalt Glaze was applied beyond the flower design and with handles like this one. The ones I found that looked similar to this were by the Bellarmine and Westerwald Pottery company in Germany which may explain why the measurement is in Liters rather than Gallons. The heavily decorated deep Cobalt design goes all the way around and is on both sides. Beautiful piece would make a wonderful water cooler. Two Gallon Jug measures 14" Tall and is 7.5" in diameter at the base and 10.5" at the handles. The opening is 5.5" in diameter. Crock is in very good condition without any chips or cracks inside or out. I recently acquired a large collection ... moreof some beautiful antique crocks and jugs which I will be listing in the coming weeks. Check out my! Please see pictures for details and condition. Condition is subjective and items are sold as is but I would be happy to answer questions or provide more pictures if needed. Also please let me know if you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason before opening a case. I will work hard to make sure you are satisfied and you can always start a case if you are not happy with my response. Please realize that Ebay is pretty tough on sellers any time a case gets opened even if the customer is happy in the end and leaves positive feedback. If you have information that could help me improve my listing please let me know. Thank you

William Radam's Microbe Killer Stoneware Original 19th Century Antique Jug Rare
Up for bid is a beautiful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug Produced and Marked by Wm Radam's Microbe Killer Famous for its trademark showing someone walloping the living crap out of a reanimated skeleton(if skeletons can be said to possess any living crap) Radam’s Microbe Killer was a fraud. Its inventor. William Radam, published a book, Microbes and the Microbe Killer(189o) describing at great length his quest for a cure for his own rheumatism. Which he believed to have been caused by microbes. A florist and nurseryman, Radam associated the killing of microbes in the human body with the killing of pests on plants. He sought to find a harmless antiseptic gas that would cleanse the human body just as fumigation destroyed the bugs in his greenhouses. In the book. Radam is unspecific about the methods that led to his claimed success, saying vaguely“A ... morelittle more improving, and I had the antiseptic that proved to be an antiseptic, without having experimented upon my body. p49, revised edition 1895) Analyses, however, showed that the remedy was more than 99% water, with traces of sulphuric acid, sulphurous acid and ash( Journal of the A.M.A. 1910) Wm RADAM’S MICROBE KILLER. Nearly all well-read people are familiar with the scientific investigations of Profs Koch and Pasteur. Respectively of Germany and France. As well as a number of other scientists of almost equal renown. Whose ex- periments have proven conclusively that all diseases are causes by microbes in the blood. They are called microbes. Because they are a living matter. And only discovered by the aid of powerful microscopes. But until William Radam discovered his Microbe Killer Medicine there was absolutely nothing known in the annals of Medicine that would destroy these Microbes or Germs of Diseases existing in the blood. The Microbe Killer does Kill the Microbes in the blood without fail. As the thousands of testimonials we have in our possession demonstrate. Microbes being the cause of all diseases, Microbe Killer will therefore cure them. WE EXCEPT NO D
