$12.25 Shipping Location: Georgetown, United States For your consideration. We offer this 3 gallon, 19th Century stoneware crock in very good, well preserved condition. Stamped near the top is"J. Fisher, ... moreLyons, NY" along with a large number"3" which was hand applied in cobalt blue. This piece dates somewhere within the last quarter of 19th Century and has a cobalt slip-trailed dragonfly decoration below the signature. The clay used to make this jug was rich in iron which is why it has an earthy, orange coloring. There's very minor glaze wear around the inside of the opening rim along with a few flecks/tiny chips, the interior of the crock looks virtually mint. On the exterior, there's an old, thin, darkened hairline that's between 1/4" and 1/2" from the bottom and travels almost halfway around the crock. It's tight and doesn't appear to go all the way through to the interior walls. Also, there's a very faint line to the right of the dragonfly that you can barely make out in photo number 8. Again, we checked the interior with a bright light and don't see it. We do our best to disclose flaws and provide detailed information. All our items are returnable within two weeks, no reason needed anyway but these hairlines are not structural threats. There's no chips or chunks missing out of the bottom rim and no pits on the sides. As the pictures show, it's a handsome old crock that displays very well. Found just this week, this 3 gallon stoneware crock is a rare piece of Americana from Western New York State that we offer to the highest bidder without reserve! Good luck! Please note: We will be out of the country from July 9th through July 19th and will not be able to ship this item until we return. This is a primitive pottery pitcher that I have had in my possession for more than 30 years; it was my grandmother's. I do not know how long she had had it. There are not any markings on it to show who had made it. The glaze that was put on it was not evenly applied as seen in the photos; that is around the bottom of the pitcher. However. The top and the inside are evenly glazed. The pitcher stands 5" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter.

This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! It appears to be quite old and has Poland stamped on the bottom. There no cracks or chips just a few imperfections in the piece. Here is a molasses jug made out of pottery that was used back in the day to store Moonshine. I can't say this one had moonshine in it. Jug stands a tad over 11 inches tall and is 7 inches across the base. Does have two chips which is common with these jugs to have some chipping from lots of use. One chip is on one side of the handle and the other one is on the bottom near the edge. You should be able to see them in the pictures. As you can see it displays well. This is a great jug that was made in Fort Dodge Iowa. At Whites Pottery Works. This is engraved on the jug as shown in the pictures. The jug has one handle, is a chocolate brown and is 9 inches tall and 7 1/2 in. round and weighs a little over 5lbs. In excellent condition. I do see a hair line crack down one side of the jug, it appears to be in the glaze and does not go clear to the top or bottom of the jug. I can't even get it to show up in a picture. NICE

19th Century Brown Domestic Pottery Jug
Hand-Made Ceramic Jug This is a very old hand'spun' piece of domestic pottery. It's fairly small. About 6" so maybe it was made for cream? There is nothing fancy about it at all. There are some inclusions in the pottery, under the glaze but that is very common with the older, home made pieces. They didn't make them to be pretty-they made them to be functional. Check out the image of the bottom of the pitcher. That's my favorite part about the pitcher! You can see how the color was added. Kind of splashed on! Again, nothing fancy and that's what I love about it. I do not ship to PO boxes and ask that you pay for your item within 3 days of winning the auction. Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware JUG Pitcher Classical Bas-Relief on Brown We are selling some items from the collection of some old friends who are facing health issues and need to downsize. Take a look at this jug or pitcher. It has classical style bas-relief figures with angels and cupids/ cherubs with a ram! The background glaze is dark brown. There are no marks other than either a 6 or 9 on the bottom. Size is about 6" tall and 10" across from handle to spout. There is a book on Herculaneum Pottery Antique Stoneware that can come along that they had marked as supporting their identification of this jug as being Herculaneum. It has a jug very similar and it too was unmarked and the book refers to another piece that was marked that has very similar elements(esp. across the bottom band) It is believed to be circa 1810 and ... moreis a beautiful piece. They had been told that it was"museum" quality. I assume that the term"jasperware" would be correct in describing this kind of stoneware or pottery that has bas-relief classical style scenes. I am not an expert in these things but I would be remiss if I did not say that I don't see how this jug can be that old! It is immaculate(other than some darkening of the lower part of the bas-relief figures) I would think that it would have some signs of age. I can't find any information online as to whether there are reproductions. I have great faith in the ebay community to weigh in and tell me what they think about its origin. sr 1262013 I am not an antique dealer. This is being sold for a friend who has had this forever and has had to part with his collections due to hard times. So please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase! This jug has lots of flaws or some say character. I cannot not find definitive markings. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer.
