Antique Pottery Stoneware Crock Jug Herb Beer with Nice Handle
Description: T his is an old Beer Crock with a handle found in an old barn here in New Hampshire. There are no markings to identify it but the pronounced lip means that it held contents under pressure and the cork could be tied down to resist the pressure. The bottle is about 8 ½” tall and 4” wide. There are a few nibbles here and there but it remains in pretty good shape with nice color as you can tell from my pictures. Beautiful stoneware jug with original cork. The bottom is a rich dark brown with a creamy top. I love the shape of the handle with it's swirl effect. There are no makers marks that I can see so I have no idea who the craftsman was. It does show pride of craftsmanship. It measures 8 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the widest point. Up for bid is a STONEWARE BATTER JUG with BRISTOL GLAZE- Nice Piece! Batter Jug is in very nice condition for age. No cracks that I can find. One chip on rim. Pic 9) Inside of jug appears to have some crazing or small spider crack lines(pic) however. Inside of jug feels smooth to the touch and no cracks are evident to the bottom of jug. Nice decoration to the ears of jug. Bail handle is in nice condition. Jug stands about 9 3/4" tall and bottom diameter is approximately 6 1/2" Jug may have been made in two pieces. Bottom half was turned and the top half may have been molded, then placed together and glazed.

WILLIAM RIDGWAY& CO YELLOW WARE HOUND HANDLE JUG YELLOWARE SIGNED, A rare yellow ware hound handle relief molded hunt jug with mastiffs at the kill of a wild boar on one side and a male Lion attacking a stag on the other. Signed with a rare partial pad mark on the base. England. William Ridgway& Co. Staffordshire ca 1830-1854 This is an early Staffordshire relief molded hunt jug with a yelloware body. This is a rare example in that it is marked with an applied pad mark on the base. The padmark has partially broken off. And it took me a while to figure whose mark it was. I found the mark in"English China and its Marks" by Thomas H. Ormsbee. The mark is in an octagon frame with an anchor and urn. It has W R& Co in a banner below the anchor. The jug is also marked with an impressed asterisk or flower and the ... morenumber 9. The jug measures 6 1/8" high at the tip of the spout and 7" at the top of the hound handle. It is 4 1/2" across the base. The exterior has a matte satiny sheen. While the inside has a clear shiny glaze. The relief decoration is crisp and spectacular. Condition The hound handle has been repaired at the top where the paws meet the rim and near the bottom terminal at the haunches and tail. These repairs must have been done by an amateur. And they could definitely be improved by a professional restorer. Guaranteed authentic, this is truly a rare Ridgway jug and it will enhance any collection of yellowware, or hunt jugs. Antique Stoneware Salt Glazed Miniature American Pottery Jug Applied Handle
Up for auction is an antique stoneware saltglazed jug recently found at auction in northern Indiana. It is found in good used condition. It has a small applied handle in the back large enough for one finger. It measures approx. 6 1/2" with a base diameter of approx. 4 1/2" in size. The opening is approx 1" The only condition issue to report is a small hairline crack in the back which does not go through to the interior. See photo 7. There are also some stain marks which should clean up without much effort. It is not signed and appears more southern than northern American pottery. A nice addition to one's collection. This is an antique primitive beehive crock jug that belonged to my Mom. It appears to be very old but does not have any markings on the bottom. The handle is bent. But appears to be the original handle. There are a few spots where the glaze did not stick to the crock when it was glazed. There is a dark spot near the top of the jug. There are also a few chips around the top and bottom edges. The jug is about 10 1/2" tall and 25" around at the widest point. PayPal only please. Antique Stoneware Whiskey Jug Crock Wire Bail Wood Handle. Welcome to The Treasure Port! This great stoneware whiskey or cider jug has been a part of my personal collection for over 20 years. It originally came from my Grandpa. Who was an avid stoneware collector. Nice original wire bail with a wood handle, painted black. Stands 10 3/8" tall and 7" in diameter. Several glaze pops on the body, crazing, some light staining(one spot is pink) and wear on the handle. Original cork, still stuck in the mouth. There's a 5/8" x 3/8" fleck type chip at the foot. Hi. I have for sale an Antique Lead Glazed Earthenware/ Red ware 2 handle Jug. It is hand painted and hand thrown. It is a nice piece for it's age. It has white flowers and circle designs. Dots, lines. I don't know if this is antique American pottery or pottery from Mexico. Normally pottery from Mexico is marked Mexico. There is a chip on the bottom base(see pictures) and some pock marks due to the firing kiln process. There was a felt pad glued to the bottom which I removed looking for a mark. Hubby thinks it was found in the ocean with the other items but I think it could be an aquarium decoration? I think It's too small to have a useful primitive item? I guess it could have been used for medicine, powder, face paint, sap or something? I believe it is hollow but the inside is plugged by something. When i asked my parents about it. They said they have had it for around 50 years, maybe longer. They don't remember where they got it from! I have not seen anything close to this on Ebay. There are some JUGS but i never saw a ceramic bottle version like this one. Comments- There is a part of a label on it that reads: GENEBRA SUPERIOR AROMATIC and the rest of it is in spanish. There is also another part of the label that says PORTUGAL. It also comes with the TOP of the bottle. Important Notes- I did some research on the internet and it appears the word GENEBRA means GIN and it is stamped in the ceramic(see picture) AREOSA so this is actually a antique ... moregin bottle from AREOSA. Here is a vintage stoneware. Porceline, or ceramicone-handled jug or pitcher. Measures about 2 ¾” tall. Has 3 colors, a rose/darkpink, a light pink, and an off-white or cream color. This is a nice old Albany slip glazed redware jug with an applied handle. It shows tiny imperfections around the top lip and one defect in the center of the body of the jug(see pictures) It also shows evidence of the potters hand in small ridges that are typical and expected in these pieces. Unique! Doulton Lambeth Mottos Jug, c.1902, Missing Handle
What a unique piece of British pottery! This Doulton Lambeth"Mottos" Jug was made around 1902 and has seen it's share of damage over the last 100+ years. The jug is missing the handle. And has two chips on the rim. There is also a chip on the bottom edge of the jug. Even with the damage, the exquisite decoration and design is intact and has a motto that circles the jug"Wishing these hard times to mend, here's to thee my honest friend. Jug measures 9 inches tall, and about 6 inches in diameter. The body of the jug is solid and has no cracks, so this could still be used as a flower vase or just for decoration. The bottom of the jug has several marks that date it to around 1902. This piece was possibly decorated by Doulton Lambeth artists Mary Goode and Annie Neal.
