LARGE EARLY FANCY CAST IRON WOOD COAL STOVE FINIAL VERY NICE! This early fancy cast iron finial is in wonderful condition with no cracks or damage. I am unsure as to the maker of this finial. But would date it from the early to late 1800's. The finial measures 12 1/4 tall, and is 11 1/4" wide at its widest point, 4 5/16" diameter at the base rim outside. Superb Carved Wood Figural Finial Fragment Jenny Lind Style
This great little carved ornament has a wonderful feminine appeal. Decor for a little girl's room comes to mind. In the late 1800's a famous Swedish singer name Jenny Lind toured America and received rave reviews. Furniture manufacturer's from that time often used carved ornaments representing the famous singer. This carving is very similar to that type of ornamentation. The piece is 12.5" x 5.5" x 3" Many items I am selling came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in 1997. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects. It is a rather pretty piece with a ball top to a bulbous center with carved leaf design coming off the bottom to the midsection, it has a peg dowel at the base, it has a flat section on the back at the center and at the base, I think the wood is walnut but cannot be certain. Nice piece with a primitive pineapple look.the peg has a diameter of about 3/8" the base is about 2" in diameter excluding the flat area, the flat area on the back is 2 1/2" tall and about 1 3/4" wide, the ball on the top is about 1 1/4" in diameter. The base is approx. 1 3/4" in diameter, and the widest part is approx. 2 3/8 inches in diameter. I can make this one in walnut, maple, oak, poplar, cherry and Mahogany. Mahogany and cherry will cost a little more. Because of the cost of Mahogany each finial will cost $3.75 more than the listed price and cherry will be $1.50 more.
