Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Still displays well. Macey bookcases have an interesting history. Otto Wernicke of Grand Rapids patented the original elastic bookcase around 1892 and produced them in his own plant under the Wernicke name until around 1902. That's when he formed a partnership with Globe in Cincinnati and bookcases using his patent were produced under the Globe-Wernicke label. However, Wernicke was not happy with arrangement so he went back to Grand Rapids and purchased the factory owned by Fred Macey in 1905 calling it the Macey-Wernicke Co which was shortened to just Macey in 1907. Famous Maker 3 SECTIONS SOLID OAK Offered is a nice Mission Oak bookcase with lift-up and slide-in glass doors which are all in working condition. Each section is marked with the Macey trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The sections are graduated in size(9" 11" 13" this is a nice feature for storing different size books. Sections are interchangeable allowing for larger books on top or on the bottom. The buyer can take this bookcase home& use it. I can't say how long we have had these bookcases but can say they are a quality set and will have a major effect on a room when it comes to decorating. They can't help but get a lot of attention. Guaranteed antique- not a reproduction. ... moreThis will retain value- the bookcases are about 100 years old, perhaps more. The bookcase has a removable top lid or crown, 3 stackable sections with glass doors, and a base. The first pictures were taken in natural room light and show the bookcase in as close to original color as possible, if the photos seem a little blurry it's because we used the night setting on the camera. The brighter photos were taken with a flash. The bookcase is all original& retains all original parts, glass, knobs, sections. The condition is above average to better. It does need a polishing but that is minor. There are minor surface rub marks& use marks. There are no structural problems, the top lid's surface is solid wood& not the usual veneer, the wood is quartered oak(what ever that is) and shows a lot of grain through-out the cabinet& doors. There are no repairs. Buyers are welcome to see the bookcase before purchase, we are 75 miles north of NYC& located between Albany-Binghamtom-NYC. It has the metal strappings on its sides. Two sections are 10 inch and two are 12 inch. The glass doors open and close properly. It has the Macey's logo on one of the sections. It is 49 inches high x 12 inches deep x 34 inches wide. The finish is really nice with the exception of a few stains on its top. There are two knobs missing. Up for auction is a rare 3/4 size mahogany Macey mission-style bookcase section with matching mission-style top. Original glass and hardware. Original finish has the alligator-skin texture to it. The section also has the original Macey label inside it. The top is solid and retains the original brass arm on the back that enabled this bookcase to"attach" to the one next to it. Antique Oak"Barrister" Stacking Bookcase- Signed Macey(34" wide 61" tall. 12" deep) This is a nice 4 stack glass front antique oak"barrister" stacking bookcase. Has a nice top and a raised drawer base with wood claw feet. Accent copper strapping on the sides. The drawer front is a bit bleached. But is in nice shape! Manufactured by Macey Furniture Company and probably dates back to around 1926-1930. The lift door mechanisms work smoothly& glass is in great condition! I am a private party- not a dealer. Antique Mission Oak 10 door, 5 stack MACEY Barrister Bookcase
This Macey tiger quartered oak doublewide(barrister) 5-stack bookcase with wooden panes(panels) is a fantastic piece. In great working order; all door mechanics functioning. Ca 1900-1920. Stamped Macey(Fred Macey Mfg Co) Very good to excellent overall condition nicely aged patina inside and out early dark finish and door glass looks to be all original. The close up photos provide extent of wear. But the four photos from 3 to 6 feet of the entire piece and both sides give an idea of the overall appeal. Two small bottom door knobs not original. Top has scratches/scuffs. The bottom legs have dings and normal wear to the finish. There are a few small wood niches on front surface(does not detract from the piece) Insides are very good with minimal wear; backs are very good with one of five stacks having significant rippling(can not see it from ... morethe front or when flush to the wall) Will work with you to arrange pick up at your expense(no shipping) our location is a convenient spot in lower Manhattan NYC; elevator building(no steps) Breaks down into 5 pieces for easy transport. 69” tall. 48” wide and 12.5” deep.
