American Sheraton Antique Candlestand
Authentic circa 1820 period antique table with chamfered octagonal top. Bold turnings and spider legs. The epitome of late federal period style. I think it is cherry but am not 100% sure. The table has been refinished, including repairs and minor imperfections, but it is otherwise in good condition. This is the real thing! 21.5"w x 17" l x 28.5"h. You are viewing a gorgeous w&j sloane N.Y. marquetry Round table in the Sheraton Style? It's both a practical and decorative piece. They are great for displaying vases of flowers on. It's mind boggling when you think of the amount of work that goes into making something like this- especially the marquetry work where the individual designs have to be cut from softer wood and then embedded into the main wood of the structure. I am offering for the first time(I'm new on Ebay selling. But not new to antiques)this very incredible antique Sheraton game table stand. This piece was recently fresh picked from an incredible estate here in Freeport, Maine. The owner passed on to me his wife and her family is from New London(for generations) and is where this stand is from. It features 2 drawers in beautiful working and solid condition. It features drop leaves which again, leaves and hinges in excellent condition. The checkerboard top is inlaid and beautiful. As pics show, there is a split going down through the top. I personally would not touch, but can be reglued if you wanted. Measurements are as follows. 28 1/2" tall. 17 1/2" deep. 16 1/2" wide. With both leaves up, measures 35" wide. Desk has scroll work, brass hardware, and leg designs that are characteristic of furniture from the 1800's. The color of the desk is a dark brown with hint of red. It is a beautiful desk. It has had some minor repairs. There is a modern screw on the backside of the desk. Also there was a repair that is photographed of one area that has been re-glued. Also one crack can be seen on the right back corner of the desk. Desk also has some surface wear which should be expected for a piece this old.
