Look at the burl walnut panels, picture frame molded, umbrella racks and even the cast iron clam shell drip pans. It has multi turn spindles with diamond point burl accent pieces on both sides of the hand cut dove tail drawer. Look at the top crest that is all hand carved with burl accent pieces and a crown molded dome shape top. It is in the original finish of a medium walnut stain with a great patina. It has minor flaws for the age, but nothing notable.

Of the founding members of ... morethe city of Duluth, MN and very influential in the 1880's. About 40 years ago, it was found packed away in the barn of one of the famil y's properties. With some judicious repair and much cleaning and polishing. The original finish was made to gleam, again and it has been used in our Master bedroom for many years. Now. We are down-sizing and the se wonderful pieces won't fit in the 8 foot ceilings of the house we have bought. Very sad. I do not know the maker of these matching pieces. But they are made from solid, beautifully-gra ined walnut with raised panels of darker walnut burl-all in good condition. The carvings are varied-lotus flowers. Waterlilies, leaves and scrollwork. The white marble on the dresser is original and perfect. This is an imposing. Attention-getting set. The bed is wide enough to use as a Queen. As we have been doing, by fastening the headboard to the wall(virtually hanging it as you would a picture) and using a Q-size metal frame, turned around, with the footboard mounted where ordinarily the headboard would be, and not using the side rails-which however, are included. The condition is very good for it's age. You can see. In two of the pictures that there are a few pieces of burl missing and one chunk of wood missing from under the ledge of the marble on the dresser. The mirror is clear. The candle shelves are intact, the"secret drawer" is still there, a large crack on the headboard was repaired and is barely visible. All-in-all. A great find. The sideboard can be picked-up. In Duluth, Minnesota, or I have a shipping company to recommend. I will give you the information upon purchase or request. You make all the arrangements and pay for shipping, pick-up and any necessary packing. I will co-ordinate with the company for pick-up.

antique burl walnut sidelock side lock dresser with gallery and ornate pulls wow
my aunt is 97 and wanted me to move this piece off her closed in back porchwhich is heated and cooled. it belonged to her grandmother. My great grandmother. i should keep it but i have no where to put it, my house is full of antiques and all my bedroom sets are complete sets with dresser, wash stand, wardrobe, bed etc. it has been well cared for and is in near mint condition. it has great burl walnut on the drawer fronts. the top and sides are solid walnut. it has never been refinished as far as i know. the drawer pulls are wonderful. some of them were a bit loose and any that needed firming up i have reglued. it has the original brass casters with double wheels on each caster and moves very nicely. it has a nice gallery on the top. aunt beth can not find the key for the sidelock, but thinks she can. i do not have a great deal of confidence ... morethat she will. she is a bit absent minded these days it seems. all of the drawers function well and besides a missing key there are no other issues to report other than there are a few light water rings on the top along with a few small scratches none of which take away from the beauty and usefulness of this sidelock. i am 5 ft. 11 inches tall and can not see any of these issues while looking at the piece. i have to get on a step stool to see them. again they are not an issue just merely add patina to the piece. the top is pictured and doubtful anything is obvious enough to show up in the photos. i intend to remove the lock and have a new key made. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyers expense. these sidelocks are hard to come by and demand a fairly high price. i am starting it at a figure 1500 less than one not as nice on ebay is listed for.

It’s in overall good condition, ... morewith only a lamination seam in the thin crown molded top. There are also some little worm holes from a long time ago on the soft wood on the back, and there is a little repair on the molding on the right hand bottom by the foot. It comes with its original key, and all seven of the locks seem to work. Remember, however, that we don’t ever guarantee these old locks to work, and they should be oiled, adjusted, and repaired. It has seven drawers, each standing for a day of the week, and it purposely doesn’t have handles and needs to be locked and unlocked with a key. It has a crown molded top, and handcut dovetails. The interesting part of this chest is that where it comes apart, someone has inked his or her signature: D. Fredricksborg, as well as signing the backboards.
