Brass Fireplace Fender Bumper Guard Claw Feet Vintage
We are offering a brass fireplace fender that we found at an estate sale. It measures approximately 42” w x 7 ½” h x 14” d. We are selling in‘as found condition’ I wiped it off but it has not been polished. It definitely has a patina and a lot of spots where the shine is gone. The only issue to note is that on one side. The bottom sits off the ground a little bit so it’s not completely level. The distance off the ground at the back corner is ½” so it’s not off by a lot. I just LOVE. LOVE, LOVE this mantel. Why would I sell it? It has been in my garage for 12 years. We are moving and downsizing and our new home is too small to use it. Check out the angels that are carved on the front. I love the detail. This is old. Needs refinishing even though I like the shabby chic feel to it. Would make a great shelf but it is very heavy. Item Description: Listed is this pair of antique Neoclassical Roman style figural andirons designed by the famed architect Robert Adam circa 1770. In the form of Vestal Virgins who protected the sacred fire of the Goddess Vesta, Goddess of Hearth and the Flame, symbol of endurance of the Roman Empire. This design is identical to a pair in the drawing room mantel at Ballinglough Castle. Westmeath Ireland. Known as the greatest British Architect of the late 18 th Century. Robert Adam’s father was an architect, which Robert followed into the family business. He spent five years on tour in France and Italy in the 1750’s. Obviously soaking in the great art of these places, which he in turn put his own spin on in his professional work and commissions developing his own style, known as the Adam style or Adamesque. Remarkable Antique Queen Anne Carved Pine Mantel with Mirror, c. 1890’s NFPM6
This is a fabulous antique Queen Anne style pine mantel. Dating from the 1890’s. It is crowned with an arched top, which is carved with a stylized foliate motif, and has a small shelf just below the arch, surrounded by a stick-and-ball railing. The shelf is followed by a scalloped border, which extends to a gracefully curved bracket on either side. Outside each bracket is a piece carved with a fan-shaped, fern-like design, curving down to the second shelf. The second shelf has a lovely beveled edge, and is supported by two pairs of balusters, which flank the beautifully aged beveled mirror. Each pair of balusters frames a beautiful leaf-shaped carved design and rests on the main shelf, connected to the last shelf by a fabulous pair of small turned spindles. The final shelf, a small ledge extending just above the firebox opening, is surrounded ... moreby a stick-and-ball railing, which angles inward at the front and is accented by two small ball finials. The ledge is supported beneath by a wonderful pair of turned posts. The firebox and the sides of the mantel feature lovely chamfered edges. Striking antique quarter-sawn oak fireplace mantel with a beveled mirror. Dating from the early 1900s. This Art Nouveau style mantel features intricate carving and a gorgeous tiger-stripe grain in the wood. The top of the mantel features beveled levels, coming down to a panel with raised vine leaf carvings around the outer edges. This section is supported by round columns with foliate capitals that extend all the way down. The beveled mirror is surrounded by a decorative tooth trim, and below is a projecting shelf with rounded edges. T hey date from the mid period of the 18th century and are of European origin. Date about c1750. Greek helmet or possibly Conquistador. Were part of a London house clearance and were displayed either side of the mantlepiece in the drawing room. Certainly a quite superb pair of oak male carved figures in the seated postures. Were mounted onto either end of the mantlepiece so the carved arm and hand are on the outside. Therefore the purposely saw ed off arm rests against the wall above the mantle. Integrating into the mantle wood. Superbly relief carved naked figures portrayed wearing ... morehelmets with the intricate carved hand resting on the knee. A left and a right. Carved in relief. Therefore one piece carvings. Each has an overall height of about 10.5inches with an overall depth of about 6inches. Condition: Considering the age. These are Snake Head andirons from the 1700's. These andirons came out of the old Rockhouse at the Rockhouse marina on Claytor Lake in Pulaski VA. My family ran the Rockhouse Marina and my family lived in the old Rockhouse. When my grandfather moved the family out of the Rockhouse he took these old andirons with them. There was a fireplace in the old house that had been closed up for over hundred years and my grandfather opened it back up and found these andirons inside.These beautiful hand forged Snakehead andirons are over 250 years old possibly 300 years old. THIS IS A VERY NICE ANTIQUE FIREPLACE SUMMER SCREEN THE DIMENSIONS ARE 20"X27" THESE ARE ROUGH MEASUREMENTS. THIS PIECE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN RESTORED. THIS IS LISTED AS IN FOUND CONDITION I DO NOT CLEAN OR ALTAR ANY OF MY ITEMS. THERE ARE TWO HOLES ONE ON THE TOP AND ONE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. Antique 1800's George Washington Andirons Firedogs Colonial Officer Fireplace
George is 14 1/2" tall by 7" wide by about 2" thick which gives him a 3 dimensional look. Total length with log holders 17 5/8" One has a chip on the outer edge of his left thigh and they both have rust but overall a nice pair being over 100 years old. They weigh 31 lbs before packing and do not disassemble for shipping. Lot Victorian fireplace tile sets Art Deco ladies England- two sets- these were removed from a home in Vancouver 40 years ago- wooden crated and stored- in excellent condition- four ladies as a set and two panels of nine tiles each in a scene depicting Windsor Castle. Complete with letter from Smithsonian and a letter from H& R Johnson tile dating the tiles and describing the hand painted process used and explaining how this tile would never be recreated today because of the cost. These were produced using a process called"tubeline" and have a logo of a greyhound which was the owners dog who won the Stakes at the Waterloo Cup for coursing. These are breathtakingly beautiful.
