Which may have been the reason for the core to be converted into this hammerstone. The tool is roundish, but some flat planes(negative scars of detached flakes) are still visible. The hammerstone has two major scars fields on the faces, and several edges have scars fields too, as they were used for flint knapping. A large drusy is on the face shown first, but the crystals are rounded and worn, they don't glitter anymore. The second drusy with glittery crystals is shown in pictures 6 and 7. The exterior side of the flake was entirely cortical which was pealed off by the lateral retouch. Dating: archaeological research in Western Europe proved that the European continent has been conquested as early as 1.3 to 1,1 Mio years(finds of Atapuerca/ Spain) Early Pleistocene. The assignment of the oldest human finds at Atapuerca to a particular early human species as Homo erectus or Homo antecessor is still controversial. As controversially discussed is the earliest date of permanent colonization of Europe, and good dating of the high gravel terraces of southern French rivers is still lacking. Second is the other end of wedge shape which is mainly retouched on the second face. This end looks very cleaver-like and was certainly used for just this kind of work. Originally from a standing figure, kilia idols are often termed'stargazers' coming from the obvious backward tilt of the head as if watching over the celestial sphere.
