No shipping. the finish is far from perfect but still a beautiful display piece. i think the wood is oak but i'm not an expert by any means. it has chinese decor on it, three piece folding mirror, cane seat bench matches, the back has 921 stamped on it and i can't find any other markings as to the maker. it has scratches, chips and staining on the deck, some of the chinese decor is broke off and gone. My husband inherited it from a client approximately 20 years ago. He has since past and I do not know the complete history. It was in exellent condition when I met him and remained that was until we moved to a new home about six years ago. It was sitting over an A/C vent I do not know for sure but I believe that may have dried it out and caused the veneer to start chipping. If the right person knew how to fix or restore the veneer it would be perfect piece. The Green Italian Marble top is in pristiene condition. as are the drawers, legs and ornate brass fixtures. I searched for comparable pieces online for many months but have found nothing that matches the size, style and beauty of this piece, especially with the Ormolu pieces on top and feet. I believe the wood is walnut. The wood on the drawers is a burled pattern. Please note the detail in the Ormalu crown and drawer pulls. An extremely heaving rectangular piece of coral marble is inset in the top. The oval mirror is beveled and is in excellent condition. There are matching two nightstands. Twin beds and dresser armoire which will be listed separately. This piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. Antique French Oak Marble Top and splash Washstand Wash Stand, Butler
This auction is for an Estate found antique wash stand. It would also work well as a Dinning room butler. The previous owners believed it was French and over 100 years old. The wood looks like flame mahogany or oak. I believe it has been varnished. The wood is very shiny. There is one drawer with a divider down the middle. The drawer opens from underneath. On the inside of the drawer there are some stains. It does open and close with a minimum of sticking. It could use some wax. The marble top is gray and white. The surface is a little rough and definitely could use a buffing. There are some small nicks and there is a crack along the back. You can see this in the 12th or last photo. Across the bottom. A pot board connects the four legs provided plenty of strength and stability to the washstand. The pot board's surface looks a little bubbled ... moreI believe from water sitting on it. The right front leg has a chip on one of the rings. You can see this in the 11th photo. I think the legs may have been shortened or they had a cap, rollers on them. The stand is 30" wide, 19" deep and 33" tall. The splash is 3-3/8" tall with the wood adding another 3/8" There is a paper label on the back of the drawer but most of it is gone. If anyone out there recognizes it please let me know. I would love to know the manufacturer. This is a beautiful piece but it is old and while it looks great for its age it does show some age. It looks to be mahogany and has been painted with a gold gilt paint. The piece shows great craftsmanship with fingered joints and saw marks seen. Here is an absolutely gorgeous antique heavy carved French walnut dressing table with chest of drawers. Five beveled mirrors including two side dressing mirrors which are adjustable, beautiful heavy carved finials above the three larger mirrors which clearly distinguish it as French and mirror back candle stands 16 1/2 inches above the lovely top surface on the dresser. The drawers on this lovely dressing table are dovetailed and have gorgeous burl walnut veneer decorative fronts and fabulous original metal drawer pulls. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, condition and construction as well as the overall beauty and desirability of this absolutely delightful late 19th to early 20th century dressing table. This terrific dressing table stands 74 3/4 inches tall to the top the ... morethe carved finial on the central large mirror and measures 42 inches wide and 18 inches deep front to back at the widest points of the dresser. there are a total of five drawers including a small drawer just below the large mirror above the dresser top surface. Below are two top drawers. Each 16 1/2 inches wide by 15 1/4 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Below these two top side by side drawers are two large drawers, each 35 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches front to back and 6 and 6 1/2 inches deep respectively, in descending order. The large center mirror with the carved frame around it is 39 3/4 inches tall by 18 1/2 inches wide with the beveled mirror within measuring 27 3/4 inches by 15 1/2 inches at it's widest points. The two hanging side mirrors and their carved frames each measure 36 inches tall and 12 1/4 inch wide with their beveled mirrors measuring 29 3/4 tall 9 1/2 inches wide at their widest points. D ESCRIPTION: Antique French ormolu-mounted Louis XV style cabinet/commode. Late 19th or possibly early 20th century and is painted in the Vernis Martin style, with all frontal cabinet paintings having scrolled bronze framing, The upper portion of the cabinet is a beehive design with eight petite, dove tailed draws in varying sizes. The top single draw is adorned with a putti/cupid, the next four draws, in tandem, have floral motifs and each of the three remaining smaller draws, display miniature paintings of estates. Both sides of the upper cabinet are decorated with a motif of musical instruments, ribbons and a book. The cabinet mid section has a narrow pull out, fall front draw, adorned with floral paintings, over bombe doors, with opposing paintings of a man and women, each seated in a bergere and dressed in traditional french attire. ... moreBoth lower sides of the cabinets depict scenes of fountains in garden/park. The double doors open up to reveal an interior cabinet with one fixed shelf. The cabinet rests on cabriolet legs with the front two terminating in bronze sabots. Note: The front. Left decorative bronze sabot/ornamentation is not attached. But is in perfect condition and in one of the draws, thus can be easily reattached. The cabinet has a key. But it is not the original.
