The hardware and locks are the originals that came with the desk, not replacements. The desk was in my family for around 60 or so years, so the desk dates to at least 1950, and it may be older than that- I'm just not sure. The desk is the slant-front style, hinged at the bottom, so it opens up and the front lays flat to become the writing surface; the desk front can be locked. When the desk front is opened and lowered into the writing position, two arms come out automatically to support the writing surface. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. A very rare ... morefind. I was informed the cabinet was used at a small hotel in Cape Cod. MA. Unfortunately I have no further information. The cabinet has various slots for in/out mail. Dividers for paperwork, etc. Also includes a calendar which is manually rotated by hand. The two doors can be locked with a key which was found inside the bottom drawer. The lock is stamped with the word LONDON. It is possible that the cabinet was made in London and made its way to New England. The cabinet is in good condition but does have visual wear. Given the cabinets age. I have not attempted to polish or clean this item and will leave this delicate process up to the buyer. 1930s - 1940s Vintage Oak US Government Office Desk (Used By IRS, WSB, PSU)
This is a nice old desk from I'm guessing the 1930s or 40s. There's a lot of history in this piece- it bears property marks from the Internal Revenue Service. The Philadelphia district Wage Stabilization Board, and Penn State University. It's in good used shape but could use some refinishing to restore it to its full luster. The only thing missing is one of the small side drawers(the empty drawer hole had been previously used as an open access to the top of the middle drawer for storing blueprints, etc. Note: The middle desk drawer is not visible in the first picture- It IS included(picture#7) It measures 60 inches wide by 30 inches tall by 34 inches deep. Maddox Reproductions Slant Front Desk
This Fine Desk was made by. Maddox Colonial Reproductions" of Jamestown, NY, from Mahogany Wood. It measures at 33.5" W x 16.5" D x 41.5" H and is in good condition. The drop down desk surface has sliding desk supports, and it has well outfitted interior compartments. One of my favorite elements of this piece are the hidden compartments, common to these desks. A little history. Maddox began the Maddox table company in 1898. In the early years, Maddox made a variety of tables. Eventually, Maddox became known for the colonial reproductions that were featured in their line as they expanded from tables to include other furniture. This desk is part of its colonial reproduction line. It has the original metal stamped crest on the rear of the desk. Happy bidding!

Antique Side by Side Desk Curio Early 1900's Good Cond.Carvings Beveled Mirror
Early 1900's Combination Curio Antique Peice. Side by Side. Used by some through the Depression. Well-cared for over the years. In near mint condition. Was never restored, in original condition. Bowed glass on curio may have been replaced. Not an expert. But I beleive, though not for certain, this to be of Mahogany Wood. This peice is NOT wobbly. It is sturdy. Four Legs are wood- no cracks. All solid. Overall, in very fine condition. Only flaw: missing handle on curio door. But, there is an easy fix. Hardware, drawer pulls are delicate and pretty for sure. Carvings are detailed, unique in thier own rite, and pretty. Overall the carving theme seems to be of hour glass or shell, in my opinion. Highly carved, refined. Overall, the peice is simply elegant. It is darker wood. Many of this style of antique is oak or other, but few are this ... moregrain and this color. Top shelf over desk. Mirror is beveled. All drawers pull great. Eschucheons(key holes) all in place- though I do not have the key for locking. Inside desk is neat with pull out drawer and some shelving. Hinges on desk are Secure! Fine to hold a lap top. Curio neat to store those show-off collectibles. Four shelves. The shelves can be adjusted for heigth, however, currently, the top shelf is the longest. Measurements: 5'4" tall(final height at carving over beveled mirror) 3'1" wide, and exactly one foot deep, would be 11" from wall, but bowed glass makes it exactly a foot. Nice functional peice- and, a peice of history. Somewhat petite, not obtrusive size out from wall. THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY. One of a kind. Very good condition woman's writing desk from Mexico, circa 1900. This one of a kind piece has no screws or glue, and fits like a puzzle! This desk was brought to the United States circa 1970 from Durango, Mexico by my Grandmother. She in turn received it from her piano teacher years before! Hello. I'm selling my desk because I have a bigger one now. This is a turn of the century school desk with a one-piece hardwood top and iron legs. It's suitable for a smaller apartment or room. It is 28 inches high. And the wooden top is 18 deep by 30 inches across. The flat top has a lip of about half an inch high at the back of it. The desk is steady and sturdy. Quite heavy for such a small thing. It is excellent quality and has a romantic vintage feel. Welcome! I am proud to be offering for your consideration this antique mahogany secretary desk or Gov.Wintrop circa 1940s. This big old secretary was found in the basement of an old home here in NH. It does have a few tell tale features caused by the damp concrete that we want to declare. Even though they are no longer really an issue. The very bottom of the backboard has rippled plywood(see photo) when placed against the wall you will not see at all, and the very bottoms of the veneered sides were lifting and have been reglued. Because of this we are listing this secretary for about half its value. The secretary has original finish, original brass hardware. It has a really nice 8 1/2" tall turned finial on top of the traditional'broken arch' top. It has two fixed shelves in the bookcase top behind glass doors with original fret ... morework over the glass. It has a big mechanical lid or writing surface in good condition but for a tiny veneer chip(no cracks) The interior of the desk is serpentine shaped with 5 drawers, a doored compartment and two'secret' vertical drawers. The secretary drawers have serpentine fronts, are all dovetailed and in good shape. This piece has three Maddox labels, one brass and two paper. It is a two piece secretary for easy moving. This striking 19th Century French rosewood and ormolu desk exudes a strong and regal presence. The large six drawer desk is heavily embellished with decorative bronze lion heads. Floral and scroll flourishes all around, and even each foot is accented in bronze on all four sides. Custom gold embossed leather top. Bound by rosewood and bronze. I really hate to part with this cool Antique Slant Front Display Case. I finally sold my boarded up store front. And need to clear out the space. I'm sorry about the poor pictures, as the only defect is dirt. All the glass is good, no chips or cracks. The lower marble base front is just dirty and needs a good cleaning. 8' Long x 51" Tall x 26" deep at base. And 14.5" deep at the top. This case is the real deal.
