It measures 16" by 9" by 4 1/2" The exotic wood veneer(possibly ... moremahogany) has a very dramatic and variable grain that ranges from amber to black. The exquisite top features a radiant Mother of Pearl Cartouche( 2" by 1" with no engravings or markings) It has eight Mother of Pearl Discs that are positioned near the corners. The discs are connected by pewter'stringing lines' to form two rectangles on the top. I believe that the two shortest pewter'stringing lines' on the ends of the inner rectangle may be replacement pieces. There are also four Mother of Pearl discs on the front of the box. Connected by pewter'stringing lines' These also form a rectangle. The escutcheon has an inlay that is a bone color. But does not appear to be Mother of Pearl. The top opens to reveal a green velvet fabric-covered writing slope which appears to be original. There are five separate compartments for ink wells. Nibs, wax, stamps etc. There is also a removable concave pen tray with storage space beneath it. The green velvet-covered'top partition' pulls down with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. The storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 7 1/4" For stationary. The green velvet-covered'bottom partition' pulls open with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. This storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 5" For letters. The hinges and fittings are brass and there is a flush brass handle on each end of the box. This is a spectacular trunk. Very unusual to find such a weathered and interesting piece, truly a thing of beauty. Its been sensitively waxed to help to preserve it, it could be buffed up some more, depending on your taste. Excellent sturdy buckles and wooden slats on the base. VINTAGE TRUNK, WOOD SLATS, LABELS,.FLAT TOP, Original, Nice Size, TABLE/STORAGE
Offered is an early 1900 Trunk which measurers 13 inches high. 36 inches wide and 22 inches deep. It has a center lock labeled"Eagle Lock Co. 178, Terryville, Conn. U.S. which is slightly bent. No key. There are two leather straps originally with the trunk which are not complete. The side handle leather grips are in good condition. The wood slats appear to be oak type of wood, but not positive. The interior is original with no restoration, lid lock needs reattachment, and the truck interior is wooden construction with an extra metal base evident from the outside base. There is one dent in the metal base, which is black color in the photos. The trunk is wrapped in oil cloth or a canvas type of material, with metal corners and metal edges. One metal trim edge on the back of the trunk, near its base, is loose. Original labels on the side ... moreof the trunk and a partial label is on the top. Very nice. Solid Louis Vuitton calfskin trunk dating from between 1909 and 1915. Excellent patina to the leather, with no major spots- just an overall golden honey aging. It was found in a well-kept old barn, and all I've done is dust it off- I'll let you condition and polish it how you see fit. The trunk is an elegant size measuring 25" wide, 11"high, and 13" deep. The brass hardware is in excellent condition. The lock inscribed'BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149. NEW BOND STREET, MADE IN FRANCE' and numbered 028224. Louis Vuitton is stamped on the larger bolts and LV on the two outer latches. The beautiful label has the first 4 shops' addresses, dating it to post-Lille(1909) and pre-Champs-Elysees(1915) The two sides are embossed with the owner's letters"McL" ... moreThe calfskin trunks are rare because they were more expensive, and all special orders, meaning they didn't make them and have them hanging around the shop- they were custom made, so the initials were embossed on the leather before it was made, as it would be impossible after, unlike painted initials. The interior is lined with ivory linen, with fittings for one removable tray. Interior stamped with number 168673. There are overall scrapes, and chipping to the top edges, where some leather has worn away. The handle looks to be not original- my guess is the original one wore off and this one fit, so it was strapped on. This was likely a very prized trunk from the early days of the golden age of travel. Perfect for the discerning decorator. Very solid and the lid operates smoothly, and there are no problems with hardware- although I've never fully pressed in the center lock clasp for fear it would stay locked. Nice Older Mahogany Bow Front Lingerie Chest Bedside Chest Cabinet From Scotland
This auction is for a very nice and very pretty Older"Bow Front" Mahogany Lingerie Chest from Scotland. This is a very Nice and older four drawer mahogany chest. We see quite a few of these coming over from the UK. Most are nice chest. But they are not that old. A majority are from the late 40's to early 50's. This One Is Not One of Those. It has the older"wide cut dovetailed" joints on all of the drawers that most manufactures stopped using around 1920 to 1925 except for a few that continued to make very high quality items. It also has a very pretty"flamed mahogany" top. It also has a"double beveled edge" top. It has"fluting" on the front edges ans pretty bracket style feet. The top drawer locks and it comes with a key. It is a better made piece of furniture than most we see. Most ... morepeople now use them not only for a Lingerie chest. But also as a bedside cabinet or night stand due to their size and height. The top is 19 5/8" wide and about 16 1/2" deep and it's 27 7/8" tall overall. All of the drawers are 15 3/4" wide X 14" The top two drawers are 3 3/8" deep and the bottom two drawers are 4 1/4" deep. It stands about 5" off the floor on pretty bracket style feet. It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) as well as some nicks. Dings and scratches on the sides but it's in overall good condition and ready to set out and use and enjoy. Under the top, you can see where it looks like some one tried to"spring" the lock, see pictures below. The pictures of the"flame mahogany" top do not due the unit justice. When looking at it head on, from different angles, it seems to shimmer, just like flames from a fire. In over 12 years of looking at this type of cabinet, I have seen one as nice as this one for it's age and affordable price. MINIATURE OR DOLL ANTIQUE DOME TOP WOOD TRUNK
Up for bid is a very nice antique miniature or doll size wood dome top trunk. Believed to be from the last turn of the century. This small wood trunk, is covered with a brown and black paper, wood slats, tin corners, tin hardware, cardboard trim and once upon a time, leather handles. The paper is missing or torn in some spots, as is some of the original cardboard trim, and the handles are missing. The inside is a whole different story, fashioned with wall to wall wallpaper, and a tray to boot. There is a cloth strap inside which once held the trunk top open, so that the top did not break the hinges, when let go of. The strap can easily be re-fastened to the inside lid. The inside contents as found appear to be doll clothes and blankets or quilted items, and your getting those as well. Priced high over the years, I probably only ever owned ... moremaybe a small handful of these in the last 40+ years of being in business of buying antiques. They are rare to find, especially in such nice condition as this. A great project piece, just waiting to be refinished and used to keep jewelry, make it into a humidor for your cigars, or give it to a small child who might want to use it for dolls or small collectibles. This box will have been used to transport laundry to the White Heather Laundry company in London and subsequently to receive the clean products back again. On the top of the box. It says, By appointment to H.M. The King" and also"By appointment to H.M. The Queen. This probably dates it to around the 1920s. I have found the company was founded 1909. And therefore it could be from even earlier than the 20s. The box also reads. The White Heather Laundry(London) Ltd Stonebridge Park N.W.10 Telephone. Willesden. 1231. The box is made of very tough ply and all corners and edges are covered in a very hard and tough bakelite type material. Which are riveted to the main body. There is a leather strap which is original, to fasten the lid down onto the base. There ... moreare stickers on the sides which show that it was transported between Kings Cross London and Newcastle Upon Tyne. There is a number on the end of the box. B.42 which probably refers to a reference number of an original owner. It measures 21.5 inches by 12 1/4 inches by 7 inches. There are strings inside which would have been used to hold the laundered items in place. There is a newspaper inside dating from the 1970s. Which may indicate when it was last used, and also backs up the Newcastle destination that is marked on the box. The box is in excellent condition. I bought this from a very old Pennsylvania womans estate auction and I was told it is a 1940s Antique Vintage Sewing bucket. Basket, caddy on three removable spindle legs(they unscrew) It is made entirely of wood and the body seems to be a thick wood slat firkin bucket upside down with a sewing accessory shelf inside. The bands or straps are wood. It stands about 21 inches high and the bucket has a diameter of about 10.5 inches. It weighs about 7 pounds. It is in super condition for an item that is nearly 100 years old. Great antique steamer trunk. This type of vintage fun was popular for travel during the late 1800's and early 1900's! This trunk is an amazing piece of history! This vintage trunk features raised wooden slats. With finished metal decorative corners, latches, and edging. This trunk is in great vintage condition, even though one of its leather handles is torn and the metal brackets that hold the top of the trunk open in a fixed position are not working(could be easily fixed) as shown in picture. Also, minimal wear on the inside of the trunk is also featured in the pictures. The inside is still lined with what appears to be the original paper. 19th Century French Goyard Wicker Steamer Trunk
All original. Immaculate condition, wicker antique Goyard steamer trunk. Wicker skeleton is strong and sturdy, nothing broken or cracked. Gum coated canvas exterior is in perfect condition, edges covered in leather still soft not brittle and dried out. Beautiful brass lock and brass bosses. Decorative wooden slats adorned with brass fasteners. Main leather straps still soft and plyable(one has a small repaired area) Smaller leather straps are brittle but replacable. Heavy duty leather handles are in great shape. The leather lock cover(stamped with the Goyard name) is very nice. Interiror has two trays, everything is covered in fine European linen, with decorative silk ribbons and brass tacks. Inside the top of the trunk is the signature Goyard label, numbered 9901 The original travel canvas cover is with the trunk with several shipping labels ... moreattached. One of the labels is from the German liner TS Bremen which later became Hitler's flag ship. The canvas cover is very fragile and needs alot of repair, but it is all there. This is a wonderful piece of history from one of the top(if not the top) trunk makers in the world. The trunk is rare because of the light weight wicker frame. most were crushed by heavier trunks. The trunk has been appraised and I will gladly provide a copy of the appraisal(shown in pictures)

This trunk is in very good condition for as old as it is, comes with original iron board, 10 wooden hangers, removable smaller case, black with brass accents, the felt on the flip top has some splits, the locks on the trunk are working, the keys for the outside of the trunk and for the bar that secures the drawers in place have been re-made by a locksmith. Trunk measures about 42" tall, 22" wide and 26" deep.
