Antique Shwayder Bros. Samson Steamer Trunk with it's original inside tray. This trunk is estimated to be from the 1930's and is in very. Very good condition. Shwayder Trunk Co. originated in 1910 and the name was changed to Shwayder Bros. Inc. Samson in 1939. In 1965 the named changed to Samsonite. The trunk has it's original tray and they are both lined in it's original patterned paper. These trunks are hard to find with their original trays and also it has old newspaper from 1957 laying flat inside both the tray and the trunk; the paper all completely in tact with no tears and really neat old adds with the current news. A little extra for the trunks history. The tray does need a small repair on the front bottom where it has become separated in the center. It's like it was hardle ever picked up much with them and they are indeed original. The front handle is a heavy type of metal I think and is all in tact. The handle also has a definate'1930's style ornate-ness' to it. Very unique! The trunk It measures 30" in length, 16" width and 12" tall. This is an amazing early 1900s wardrobe steamer trunk. The exterior is black. And interior is a nice floral pattern. Fabric inside the drawers still has the wonderful blue and green shades in tact! Drawer fronts, ironing board, and hanging fabric have each faded to a pleasant neutral toned scheme. Comes complete with ironing board, iron holder at bottom with strap, adjustable bar to keep clothing in place, 3 drawers with original tie down ribbons in tact, bottom deep drawer with leather strap on one side, locking drawer bar with working lock and key, 8 various types of hangers, and a box for extra storage at the bottom of the hanging side of wardrobe. This wardrobe trunk is original. And has some scuffing on the outside and signs of wear on the inside. Hanging fabric is ripped at the top, as you can see in photos. Also, the two heavy duty ... morelatches are in wonderful working condition, but the lock on the outside is broken. Neither of the leather side handles remain. THIS IS A GORGEOUS CHEST OF SEVEN DRAWERS. IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS HAND MADE TO ME. I TOOK A DRAWER OUT TO SHOW THAT EACH ONE IS DOVE TAILED BOTH FRONT AND BACK. THIS PIECE IS 42' TALL X 9' DEEP. IT STARTS OUT AT 8 1/4' WIDE AND THEN GRADUALLY GETS WIDER AND WIDER TO THE BASE WHICH IS 22 1/2' WIDE. I DO NOT KNOW THE AGE OF THIS PIECE-IT HAS AN OLDER LOOK TO ME. BUT COULD BE MADE TO LOOK THAT WAY. IT IS SOLID WOOD THRU OUT AND IS HEAVY. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps & Buckles
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles Here is a nice refinished arch top or dome top steamer trunk from around the late 1800's to 1900 or so. We purchased this one already finished by someone else. We didn't really like the way it was when we received it. So we went ahead and finished it out a little bit better. This one has a combination of fancy embossed metal which is in a leaf and flower pattern on the top and front. The rest of the trunk must have been paper which they removed to expose the wood on the sides and the back. The wood appears to be pine and the outer slat boards look like poplar. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is approximately 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 inches. The front latches were ... moremissing on this trunk, so we put a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top where the latches should have been. These straps with buckles hold the top secure to it's base when buckled as would the latches if they were there. The wood appears to be finished with a couple of coats of clearcoat. The metal has been painted in a couple of different colors. The fancy metal looks like a silverish color while the cap metal on the slat boards have been done up in gold leaf, and the flat metal is in black. The lock looks to be original. It is not in working condition because the top part that goes into the lock mechanism is missing the engagement part. The lock probably works, but it will not fasten to anything since the top part is missing that engagement part. We did receive this trunk pretty much the way it is and simply gave it some improvement. The side handles were not on it, so we have put on a pair of Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, the paper lining has been removed and the wood has been finished with two coats of polyurethane. The bottom has been covered over with a new bottom which has been fastened

Company(see stencil inside lid) On the lid is a colorful, painted scene of the famous nursery rhyme about the Cat and the Fiddle and the Cow Jumping over the Moon. The condition is good, but there is a sliver missing from inside the front panel visible from the bottom(see detail photo) There is one corner which I have also photographed showing a split in the edge and a glue seam on the top where there is a minor separation in the planks. Autorobe Trunk Co. 1917 Royal Robe Autorobe RARE
This is a very sweet trunk. It is a 1917 Autorobe Trunk Co. Royal Robe model Autorobe trunk. It opens at the top and a half door folds down and the top flips up. On the other side of the half door is a compartment that opens and is help shut by two leather flaps with buttons that clasp shut. On the fourth picture you can see the flap open. That compartment also slides out of the half door. Then you flip the metal bar up and you are able to pull out the wooden clothes hangers. There are also two anchor hangers and a slacks hanger. In the seventh picture you can see some compartments for shoes inside the trunk. There is also another"briefcase" type compartment that comes out as you can see in the nineth picture. That opens up and is divided into two. There is also a fabric bag that you can see in the 11th picture. As you can see the ... moretop has some tape over the lock because we don't have the key so if it shuts it would not be able to be opened back up. With some alterations you could either replace that lock. Or just jam up the locking part of the lock so you can place it inside the trunk again. Primitive Antique Blanket Chest Folk Art Wood Miniature Mini Trunk Fruit Crate
Awesome primitive folk art miniature wooden blanket chest. Made from an old fruit crate. All components of box show traces of having been gleaned from a fruit crate the box is in excellent shape, and measures 8" long by 3 3/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. There are three tiny nail holes visible on top of box lid one in front center, and two on right side edge, which are remnants of when piece was a packing crate please see last photo. The front of box has a beautiful scallop design and still retains faint pencil layout lines. Original to the creation of the piece. Both sides of the mini blanket chest have footed arched features which join and compliment the scalloped arched front. The interior of box is where the origin of this unique piece is hidden, the wooden interior reveals the writing, advertising of the original fruit crate ... moreof which it was made. The bottom of lid is partially labeled"produce of USA united packing company" circled(27) The interior sides read"deluxe quality" and"pack" The top of lid is a beautiful bow type top it's thick and smooth from years of use. The trunk measures 31.5 inches in length. 20 inches in depth, 21.5 inches in height. We did picture every side of the trunk and it is in good condition. It is missing one leather handle and there is a small stain on the top, picture#9. The trunk has the original lock and latch but we do not have a key for it. The interior has the original divider and the fabric interior is very clean. It has the original MOYNAT trunk decal on the inner lid as well as a red pocket holder for papers which is very rare to find. Vintage red folk art trunk hope chest that will bring you back to your childhood
the handles are missing. but it's not really going to be used to hold stuff anyway look carefully at the images. I'm sure you know some. or about all of the people inside. would certainly make an interesting centerpiece. maybe cut some glass or plexiglass to fit inside as a table, then close the lid and use the top as a table when kids come over the cutouts inside are old. some are ripped. LV trunks are highly collectible but the stories behind them make them all unique and sought after. These are from the late 1800s to early 1900s. They have been together for years and I don't want to seperate them. These belonged to my client's uncle. He was a Superintendent in the building 1115 5th Avenue. New York NY. The story goes that he was given these by a resident. He never used them or traveled with them and passed them on to his neice. The original owner of the cases traveled first class on the Famous SS United States Cruise Liner from New York to Paris as indicated by the stickers. I don't know if it was the maiden voyage. I do know John Carradine traveled on the ship but I can't say these are his. There were a lot of very famous people that lived in the 1115 5th Ave Buidling as well as those that traveled on that ship. The smaller case measures 28 X 17 X 8.5. It has the LV Sticker inside 149 New Bond Street, 70 Champs Elysees Paris. The serial number on the lock is 071745. The larger case. Steamer trunk is 44 x 21.5 x13. This one has the initials DTA in red and has the Paris stamp from the US Lines and the First Class H stamp on it. The serial number on the lock is 045509. I've included a brief history of the ship below. You can buy additonal items from the ship right here on Ebay as they were auctioned a few years ago. These case would make a great coffee table. Bedside stands or just a fun display piece. They are in quite good condition. They have not been exposed to smoke and are clean smelling inside. Vintage Trunk Chest Cargo Storage Coffee Table Blanket Box Excellent
For your consideration is this wonderful vintage cargo trunk in excellent condition. This chest appears to have been hardly used. As it is clean. With only a few scrapes to the hardware on the outside. There is a four inch deep, lift out tray inside with two cutout handles on the end, and two tie down straps to keep your garments or cargo in place during transit. As you can see in the pictures. The inside is a green color, and also notice the clean condition with no spots, stains, holes, or dis-coloration. Wardrobe Steamer Trunk circa 1920's
This old wardrobe steamer trunk is from the 1920's era. It no doubt carried clothing. Documents, and treasures for fellows like Gatsby himself or a passenger on the Titanic. An original nail file was found tucked away in one of its drawers waiting to be found by generations later. The 8 drawers are linen lined. And I think the briefcase is as well. The top of the wardrobe area opens up to reveal a majestic deep purple velvet material. There is a lever behind the drawers that keeps the drawers from opening up during transportation. The trunk closes but the lock is broken and does not latch. This is an original steamer trunk and has scratches and signs of normal wear and tear. This steamer trunk is a great addition to any room.
