Original Louis Vuitton Monogramed Steamer Trunk circa 1910-1920" This highly detailed Vuitton Trunk is an amazing survivor. Its extensive brass fittings(including the brass rivets) bear the"LV" stamp as does the leather trim work. The brass locking clasp is marked with"70 CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS LOUIS VUITTON LONDON 149 NEW BOND STREET MADE IN FRANCE" The inside of the lid is marked with the number 737608 in black ink. Its condition strikes us as quite amazing. And the characteristic imprinted fabric is in splendid condition. The two leather strap handles at either end of the trunk are not in place, but one handle survives in part and is included in this auction. The interior tray is missing, although the handsome monogramed fabric covered interior of the top is in beautiful shape. Labels and ID number are intact and ... moreappear where they should be. The tip of the encircling leather strap is missing several inches at the connecting end though the receiving end is intact. There is no key but these are easily purchased. This is a vintage case made by Kolb Trunk& Case Co. St. Louis, MO. they were formed in April-1912. It is about 20 x 7 x 10 1/2" with a leather handle, 2 snap catches& push button key lock that will close but is stiff to open-maybe a little oil- No Key" All corners are metal protected. It is made of some type of hardboard& covered with a hard resin type sheet& then riveted. It looks like someone has made 2 divider trays to sit on top as in the pictures. It is solid but does show age with the rust& marks. This was found at an estate sale.

Antique Eastern European Hungarian Wedding Blanket Chest Carved Painted C.1853
Rustic and primitive. This antique wedding chest is a true gem. With original iron hardware, and lightly carved detail, this pine chest dates to around 1850. The face of the chest features two carved panels with exquisite geometric detail. There are painted elements ensconced in a wreath motif, but we are not able to decipher the original image. The craved detail is also featured on the top of the lid, along with the fasteners for the original iron hardware. The lid lifts to reveal a pine interior. The interior surface of the lid gives clues to the life and history of this unique piece. There are pencil marks and writing in what appears to be Hungarian. We also found the remnant of a decal with the word'szivem' on it. Szivem translates from Hungarian to English as'my dear one. fitting for a marriage chest. The lid is also marked ... morewith the years 1853, 1856, 1861, and 1867. Perhaps the notations were made as the piece changed hands? We believe this to be the original paint. It had a blue gray surface hue. With bittersweet side panels. This folk art piece is in fair to good condition. It is structurally sound, though shows its age through cosmetic issues like worn sides and deterioration of the painted surface. While the hinges and side handles are original, the center lock is no longer in place. The chest measures 35" in length. 17" in height, and has a depth of about 20 1/2" We are offering this piece for'local pickup only. This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. The large section in front 27 1/2 inches x 10 inches, it appears there was a divider in the center of this section at one time The 3 sections in the back are all 6 inches deep. 2 are 10/12 inches, the other is 5 1/2 inches. There are finger holes on the sides for carrying. The chain that holds the lid from falling back is partially missing. Beautiful Rare 1927 Antique Lane Cedar Hope Blanket Chest Style# 48910 This Lane Hope Chest was made on May. 9th 1927 In 1912 John Edward Lane bought a small packing-box plant in Altavista. Virginia at a bankruptcy auction for $500. Placed in charge of the small, corrugated iron building, his son Edward Hudson Lane decided to convert the facility in order to make cedar chests. The Lane family was unsure of what success they would have selling chests, so they originally named the company The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. The firm manufactured and sold chests used to store linens and other items for setting up housekeeping, as well as keepsakes. Early production of about ten chests a day was sold through independent salesmen working on commission. In its early days. The business was run on a shoestring budget. Nearby buildings were rented as ... moredemand grew, with finished parts transferred from one building to another by means of a mule-drawn carriage. This auction is for a vintage steamer trunk. I think this is the right wording for them. This is black, hinged lid, leather strap handles on each end. Two clasp closures on the front, the main lock is missing the bottom as you can see in the photos. The inside is papered. This is worn and discolored, it is the original. There is a wooden bar on each side where the shelf would sit, but is no longer with the trunk. Measures right at 36" wide, 21.5" deep and 24" tall. It has weight to it! Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. I don't know for sure what this one was called for certainty I just know that it more closely relates to the old"Barrel Stave" luggage trunks. Vintage 1940's- 50's Red Leather Storage Trunk with nailhead trim. Just off the old homestead and ready to come home to you! Trunk measures 24" wide, 19" high, and 17" deep. Fantastic condition- only a couple of minor wear marks. This trunk's insides look like they came off of the showroom floor- amazing for how old the piece is. The homestead was in the family for 100 years and this is just one of the jewels that have been unearthed- claim it while you can.
