For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to the late 1800 to early 1900's. There are stickers on the truck. Which I did not remove. Germany and Scotland. Has a wonderful cloth pattern on the outside similar to L. Vitton trunks. Features 4 drawers and a wardrobe area to hang cloths. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips ... moreit has taken over the years. This Chest of Drawers has dove-tailed drawers that are made of solid wood on the inside. See pictures, and they are working properly. The condition of this Chest of Drawers is secure and sturdy, with some imperfections here and there proper to its age and wear& tear. Boston, MA" The Paine Furniture Company was founded in Boston. Ma in 1835 by Leonard Shearer. In 1835 Boston was a small city, but the furniture industry was rapidly growing and in 1872 Shearer opened an huge Paine Furniture Co. Furniture Center. By 1914 Paine Furniture was operating from a ten-story showroom and factory. This fine blanket chest is executed in mahogany with a wonderful cedar lining that offers a lift out cedar tray. This large chest offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities and features full ebonized Corinthian columns with gold accents at the top and base. This chest measures 28 3/4 inches in height.46 inches wide and 21 inches deep and weighs approximately 75 lbs. The lift our cedar tray measures 40 inches long,16 inches wide and 3 inches deep and features cut-out handles on each end. There are some veneer chips here and there on the lid edge and feet. The top does show surface scratches and a dark ring. Lock is intact but we do not have the key. On the inside of the lid by the lock there is additional wear and scratches around the brass lock and small metal braces have been added at some point in time to the right inside back corner. This chest is a wonderful piece to place at the foot of a bed for storage of blankets and linens and is solid and sturdy enough to be a seating area as well and offers substantial storage with classic style. Mid Century Mahogany Federal Style 2 over 2 Drawer Chest W/ Banded Inlaid Design
This is a mid century Federal style two over two drawer chest. The maker of this piece is unknown. It appears to be a good quality piece that is well made. This is made from mahogany and has a banded. Inlaid design framing the faces of the drawers and on the top of the chest. There is string inlay down the front legs. The drawers are jointed and tight. The handles on this have been replaced. The original handles were an oval brass design and there are signs on the drawers where they sat originally. The piece measures 32.5" in height. 42" in length and 20 3/8" in depth. This has the original porcelain casters with brass caps. The top two drawers have an inside depth of 3.25" The middle is 4.25" deep and the bottom drawer is 5.25" deep. There is a slight warp in the top of this and it can be seen in the photos. ... moreThere is also a small crack on one of the side panels. There are age and use appropriate scartches and dings on the legs as well. Overall this is a good looking piece that is solid. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. Hello. You are viewing my sale for an Antique Sturdi Cedar Chest By Francis F. Hamilton. This is a"Margeret No. 580" according to the indentation on the bottom. This chest has an Early Patent Date of"Aug. 26, 1924" and the final date reads"March 9, 1926" These dates as well as others are indented on the bottom as well. This may have been a salesman sample of a larger size chest that was identical to this smaller chest. This is only my guess however. This chest measures when closed 4 and 1/2" tall by 12 and 3/4" long by 8 and 1/2" wide. On the interior there is a green felt fabric as well as a gold lace trim. There are the letters" K E V N" stuck to the interior section plastic dividers. This appears to be a modern add on for someone who owned this before. The trim and accents throughout ... morethis chest are amazing. The chest is in good condition with some minor wear present. The rear hinges are a little loose. Jenny Lind Wooden Trunk with Compartment Shelf
This is a grand old Jenny Lind Travel Trunk that is made of pine wood and has iron latches and support strips. The trunk is a copy of the old Jenny Lind travel type made famous by her. The trunk is dated about 1940 or so. It has been reconditioned as there is slight discoloration in hidden places. The truck is wonderful. It's strong and sturdy ready to haul heavy items or simply to store blankets and such. The trunk is naturally distressed all over, there are cracks in the wood that lend to its beauty and charm. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. The San Francisco Call Newspaper of November 16th ... more1911 listed their address to be on 519 Market Street and another internet search revealed they moved to Battery Street around 1913. Hirschfelder& Meaney was also listed in the 1926 San Francisco chamber of commerce publication as a chest maker with address at 36 battery street San Francisco. Earlier edition of same publication published in 1910 listed same company’s address to be 519 Market Street There are documentations published between 1910 and 1926 that made reference to this company. I have not seen any reference to the company after 1926. This however does not mean one is not out there and for this reason we listed this chest as mid to early 1920. Primitive Blue Green Painted Foot Locker Small Tool Chest Trunk 4H Lift Top Folk
Painted pine primitive six-panel trunk or foot locker. This piece has a layer of blue paint over green paint and has a 4-H logo stencilled on the lift top. Sturdy construction with dovetail corners and applied molding around the bottom and iron braces at the corners. Beautiful stamped metal handles have been attached to the side. Brass key surround at the front lock. Unsure of exact age- the trunk itself probably dates from the 1800's. But its most recent paint job has to have been after 1910, when the 4-H logo was created. It may have been built as a tool chest and then repurposed for tack. Overall. This piece is in very good condition, although there is significant wear to the paint and some wear and minor damage to the wood itself. The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. I know absolutely nothing about restoring a this gorgeous piece. I wish I did. I cannot answer much about it except the physical aspects. I was told by the individual that I got it from that it is from the 1800s. From my minimal research. That seems to be accurate and consistent. It comes with 5 hangers- only one is original- the others were made afterward- when and how old the others are. I don't know, but can tell you 4 of the 5 are not original. Up for consideration is a nice size Stagecoach antique trunk that has been restored. It has been cleaned well inside and out. The wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. It os all original exccept for the handles were replaced with new leather ones. The inside was recovered so no musty smells. It does have some minor dings and stress cracks. But this only adds to the characture of this 150 year old trunk. It would be Great for a blanket chest. The measurements are; 30" long x 17" wide x 18" tall. Someone must of taken so much time to hand place all the interior Antique French Toile fabric which is lined as shown to keep your treasure clean in addition to the interior wood. Then, in addition to this someone took more time to place a plastic over the Antique French Toile Fabric to keep the Antique French Fabric clean at all times. This is truly amazing how Gorgeous this piece is from upper to lower. It does have its age openings. Knicks etc. due to age and I will polish it before its goes out and, please see all my very large photos for your detailed viewing of this exquisite antique- and I have showed photos of the backside how wonderful and thick the wood is and the front side of the upper having deep areas for all your antique displays.
