These salt and pepper shakers are charmingly decorated. Each tapering cylindrical body has a rich hand hammered surface in the Japanese taste. One is decorated with an applied mixed metal crane and lily-of-the-valley floral bush, and the other is decorated with an applied mixed metal bird and a goat playfully eating the leaves from a bush. Both also have a ground of applied silver granulation. These scenes are artistically rendered and create a dynamic scene against the sparkling silver surface. Both have plain, detachable cap lids that have been beautifully pierced in a starburst and anchor motif. Each shaker is stamped under the base with the identifying marks of the Gorham Manufacturing Co. the words Sterling& Other Metals, and pattern numbers A92 M and 11 EX, each lid is also stamped with a number. Both measure approx. 3" high, and are in excellent condition overall. This lovely shaker set would make a striking addition to any table, and are a wonderful example of the eclecticism of the late 19th century. The 22 karat gold overlay is in near perfect condition. Pretty Dresden Rose antique Salt& Pepper shaker set. 4" Tall& heavy(probably Ironstone) A true pair of shakers. Leafy shape. Gold gilt. Condition is VERY GOOD- NO chips. Cracks or crazing. Gold gilding is 99.5% intact. A little bit of wear near a few shaker holes& where held. Both have a bubble pop on the underside(as seen in the photo) I will find the other cork stopper. Lot of 5 pair of Salt and Pepper shakers made 0f Wood, Tin and Ceramic 50's
Lot of 5 Pair of Salt and Pepper shakers. First pair is wood blocks cut from a pine tree and hand crafted by F Plasman in 1960. they are in good condition. There is some writing on the bottom. Second pair is f 6 1/2" tall an have a wood grain like finish. They have plastic stoppers in the bottom and metal lids. Third pair were made in or around 1952. They were hand painted and varnished. the lids unscrew from the top. There is some writing on the bottom of these. They say made in Japan. Fourth pair is made of Ceramic They have a poem to Mother on them. They were made in Japan. Fifth pair is maid of Tin and have the words Minute Maid stamped on the top. They have been hand painted the bottom has a cork for a stopper. one of them looks like the lid was pushed up a little but you can still read.
