THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. Appears to be all hand built with dovetailed joints and very old hardware. Possibly the original stain showing nicely aged patina. Latch is not working looks to be missing a piece on it so it is not working. There are a couple age cracks in the bottom of the chest which is to be expected from the age of this piece. Antique Old Toy Box Chest Cowboy Vinyl Wood
Beautiful Antique toy box. It has a few places if you look the girl has a scratch on her face. But it isn't deep. The back edges both are coming up a bit. And it has a small spot on the very front left of it as well as something on the front right that looks like a possible ink pen spot, but I'm not sure. And, lastly from what I've seen the bottom right has two small spots on it where the vinyl has come off a bit. You should be able to see all of these spots by looking at my pictures. I want you to know what you are buying. But, even with these little imperfections this is a really nice piece. I won't let it go too cheap because I know it's really nice and you can't just go down the street and find another one easily. I was told this is from around the fifties time period and possibly even earlier. I looked all over ... morefor a date and couldn't find one or even a manufacture. So I can't give you any more info that this because I'm not an expert at antiques. But I do think I have an eye for some pretty pieces. Small chest of custom made drawers form Elgin. Illinois, mid century, from Chestnut Wood. Purchased in the late 1950's from a cabinet-furniture enthusiast that custom built furniture with drawers. This piece has four drawers each drawer under 2" in depth. Many of his pieces have been stamped with his initials. I have several more of these custom built pieces available from the same estate. I would like to add that the drawers still slide out and in with barely any friction, a dream for those of us that have struggled with aged pieces that do not slide properly with age. The chest measures 16 5/16” x 13 3/8” x 12 1/8” and you will find a removable tray inside that measure 15 ¼” x 12 5/16” x 2 ¼” It has lovely brass hardware and lock; however. I do not have the key for the lock. I believe the chest and stand is made of dried elm and my pictures show the trunk a bit lighter in color than it really is.The wooden stand does have some loss on the inside top edge where the chest sits inside the stand. There are also imperfections in the wood itself on the underside of the stand. The inside edge of the lid has(1) one ½” area where the Chinese calligraphy paper lining is coming up just a tiny bit. Please see my pictures. As there is ... morenothing here that jumps out at you or compromises the stability of this impressive older Chinese lacquer wood chest on a wood stand. I purchased this just about 30 years ago at a locale estate sale. As a vintage Chinese chest. It has moved with my family twice and has always been used to store my smaller Chinese pieces during the holidays, as well as, serving as a wonderful display stand for various Chinese cloisonné vases, etc. I am only selling this. For sale is the nicest Lane Cedar Chest I have ever came across! This is a beauty of a chest with a very nice black leather cushioned top and a very fancy front wood inlay and its on wheels. This chest is 4 Foot long. Stands 16" tall, and is 16" deep. Please note that I have removed the lock due to Ebay policy as the lock on it was one that automatically latches. Lane does give new locks for free however, you call them at 800-327-6944. This is in Beautiful condition! There is one minor scratch on the left side that you can see in the last picture and there is one screw on one of the back hinges that has been replaced. I got this at an Estate Sale and you can tell it has not been sat on as the Leather and cushion is in Pristine condition, no cracks, no tears, no wear at all. This is a beautiful vintage Lane cedar chest from 1965. This chest isn't typical of Lane designs. It has a very sleek mid century modern look. The chest is walnut wood lined with cedar. It has a storage tray on the inside for smaller items. The chest measures 20-1/4" tall, 53-1/4" long and it is 17-5/8" deep. It is in excellent condition with no damage. On close inspection it shows a few scratches and there is a ding on the back right corner, nothing outstanding though. This chest comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is clean and ready to use. Per the Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) Full size chests manufactured between 1912-1987 need to have their locks replaced or removed due to the fact that the original locks automatically latch shut when closed and children can become entrapped. You are bidding on an ELDRED WHEELER REPRODUCTION of a TAUNTON CHEST that was commissioned by the ABBY ALDRICH ROCKEFELLER FOLK ART MUSEUM in COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG where the original resides. The chest measures 23" width. 21" height and is 13" deep. This small chest belongs to a group associated with the Taunton. Massachusetts area on the basis of similarly constructed and decorated examples. Other chests in this group are more commonly characterized by a painted decoration consisting of a tree or vine springing from a wavy line, curving stems in lobes, dots or clusters of dots attached to the curves of the stems. Two such chests recently sold on eBay for $850 and $1375. Up for auction is a VERY RARE variation of the same sized chest with a beautiful sponge like design. When we purchased this about 25 years ago it was considered ... moreto be one of a kind and we have never seen another one for sale anywhere and the pictures above do not reflect how beautiful it actually presents. Beautiful Lane cedar chest make in Altavista. Virginia. Comes with key. Also has a guaranty from manufacturer against moth damage. Beautiful piece measuring 4 ft wide by 15.5 inches long by 12 inches deep. Has a nice black leather seat cover to sit on and allows for storage underneath. Perfect piece for the end of your bed. Also has wheels for easy and convenient moving. Wood inside is in near perfect condition. Inlay is in good condition as well but the top leather does have two small tears(see pictures) that measure 2 and 3 inches. One on top and one on the front left corner. Transitional SILVER CHEST Solid Wood DECO MIDCENTURY HOLLYWOOD REGENCY
Great Lines and Larger than Life describe this Unique Transitional Silver Chest. This is a quality piece of furniture that will stand proud in your dining room. Oversized. Heavy and chunky, this chest sits on a smaller square base. The chunky front door with molded wood trim with an integrated goldtone metal handle opens to reveal four shallow drawers. The top drawer is divided and lined with green felt. The others have the same grainy walnut or mahogany veneer that covers the outside. Quality construction with no metal hardware evident. Probably has the original finish. Drawers all have dovetailed joints. Solid as a rock. Large size will make quite a statement. 28" wide x 19" deep. Top is 32" off the ground. It is very heavy. Some damage to the veneer on the back part of the top surface. Gold Plate is wearing away in spots ... moreon the handle. Crayon marks on one of the drawer bottoms. Cherry 4 Drawer Accent Chest Brass Pulls Beautiful Wood Grain NICE 24" SIZE
Beautiful wood grain on this lovely 4 drawer cherry chest measuring 24" wide x 14-1/8" x 23-3/4" high. The perfect accent chest for any room to hold your lamp or other decorative item. Drawers measure 21-1/4" wide x 4" high. Designed in the Chippendale style with a nice base lifted from the floor this quality made chest has its original brass pulls. The drawers are dovetail construction both front& back, each drawers body is oak wood to give this piece additional strength as oak is a hard tough wood that will take a lot of abuse. Note that the drawers have dust liners built in between them with solidly built center runners that hold the drawers nicely. This is a very clean little chest weighing about 44lbs as you see it here ~ take a look. I believe this is what they call a Butler's chest there are handles ... moreon either side so he could carry it from room to room. The 4 drawers could nicely hold your Sterling flatware. Cool piece of history Foot locker/ shipping crate from San Francisco CA to Cincinnati OH in 1951 From the Navy Base in San Francisco. It seems, to his hometown in OH Lt. Joseph B Andrews Jr. A"people search" says he would be 102 years old today- Joseph Bolton Andrews) Use it as a storage chest. A trunk for collectibles, add legs for an end table or coffee table, use it as a tool box, ETC! The color is a military green. With a very slight tinge of blue- hard to photograph just right. The photo closest to the true color is photo#2- the closeup of the leather and bracket. The inside was sectioned off originally. Antique English Yew Wood Fancy Chest By N. Norman LTD, London Serpentine
Outstanding English Yew wood reproduction chest by N. Norman. London, England, circa 1950's. The four drawer chest measures about 30" wide x 18 1/4" deep x 30 1/2" tall. The chest has a slight bow or serpentine top and drawers. The drawer fronts are match booked and the top has contrasting inlay sections around the edges. The drawers are dovetail construction. Yew wood is native to England and has a birds eye grain with a warm light color appearance. This chest came from a Hilton Head Island, SC estate and is in very good vintage condition. There are normal signs of use and age with some light scratches and wear to the piece. There is a very small 1/2" ding" to the top left rear side and one very small"ding" to the top rear. Neither is significant; the left corner is not noticeable unless you bend down ... moreand look for it. Beautiful patina with the original finish. Beautiful Vintage Ethan Allen Campaign Cherry Wood 24" Small Chest Canova Line
For your consideration is an Beautiful Vintage Ethan Allen Campaign Chest/Nightstand from the Canova line! It is a wonderful little piece as you can see. Measuring just 23" tall, 21 7/8" wide at th base and 14 5/8" deep. Has a few areas of wear and tear as shown, a couple small hits to the front shown in the last photo and a rough spot on the top where it feels like perhaps a doiley or something like that had fused to the finish at some point. Overall it's a bit nitpicking though, as it really is a wonderful piece as you can see. Pickup can be done in Putnam.
