One inked name on Registry and presentation page. Good Book shows age, and, some use behind it. The spine and corners are bumped and worn with light finish and color loss, some pages crumpled, creased and turned. Gilded edges show heavy edge-wear. Text block shows turning, some stress and thread-reveal to binding, some pages worn from extending past text-block. Creases and occasionally dog-eared with a few pages taped. Heavily noted and marked pages, some corrected tears, stress to the binding here and there. Names on the records and pages, most pages are flat though no longer clean, some have some crumpling; a few corrected dog-ears. Binding is still mostly good though gapped at hinges in several places; pages no longer sit quite even. Again, some moisture-stains but no mildew nor scent that I can detect. The text carefully printed from the most correct copies of the present authorized version including the marginal readings and parallel texts with a Commentary and Critical Notes designed as a help to a better understanding of the sacred writings by Adam Clarke. It is a Royal Octavo Stereotype Edition Vol. II published in 1833 by B. Waugh and T. Mason for the Methodist Episcopal Church, New York. This 1015 page bible shows cover wear. The front cover is hand stitched to the spine and there is many rubbed areas. The text is well bound with the expected foxing of the pages, but it doesn’t interfere with the reading of the text. Here is a vintage 1163 pg stated 4 th Edition of the Leather Bound American Bible Society Holy Bible with copyright date of 1872. This book has been personally inscribed to the front board to Mary F. Purdy and does contain genealogical information to the Family Log Section on the family dating back to 1828. A small sepia toned photo of what appears as a Church or home was found in the Bible which may have significance to the family will be included. Conditionally. The brown leather boards with gold gilt decoration have some corner/edge wear, rub/chip and light stain, yet overall the boards are straight and intact. Inside, the Bible does have gold gilt end pages and is inscribed to the front fly leaf by the former owner. The pages are clean aside from the documentation to the Family Log Section and some edge wear at those pages also. I have up for auction a very old holy bible new and old testaments from the 1800s. It is published by OXFORD and says it was PRINTED AT THE UNIVERSITY PRESS. It is made of leather and brass and consists of only text. No pictures. There is basic wear and tear and writing on the first pages and the book has detached from the binding. However.
