Antique Pottery Stoneware Crock Jug Herb Beer with Nice Handle
Description: T his is an old Beer Crock with a handle found in an old barn here in New Hampshire. There are no markings to identify it but the pronounced lip means that it held contents under pressure and the cork could be tied down to resist the pressure. The bottle is about 8 ½” tall and 4” wide. There are a few nibbles here and there but it remains in pretty good shape with nice color as you can tell from my pictures. Awesome Vintage Brown/Cream 1/2 Gallon 8 1/2" Jug Pitcher. Has a wonderful almost salt-glazed finish to it. In Excellent condition with no cracks.Chips or scratches.The inside is the brown glaze. Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. this is a rare antique handmade stoneware pottery crock from mid to late 1800's it is completely made by hand out of thick. Heavy stoneware with extremely thick walls. it has and exquisite salt glaze finish. With beautifully painted cobalt stylized figural detailing. it has a dual handle and a large mouth. It is near museum quality, not one chip on the whole crock, which is EXTREMELY RARE any imperfections on the crock were done in the creation process. Like any discoloration. crocks of this age and quality hardly ever come to market. it measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter x 13 inches tall and has a wonderful patina from age. i believe it is a 5 to 6 gallon crock.very heavy piece. there are a couple very very tiny hairline cracks as shown in the last pic. This is an antique 2-gallon Bangor Stone Ware Co. salt-glazed stoneware jug. C. 1880-1917. It is stamped in cobalt blue with the number 2 above"Bangor Stone Ware Co, Bangor Maine" Two drops of glaze from the manufacturing process. As well as several light brown drops from the manufacturing process, can be seen in photographs#1 and#2. A small, shallow surface flake on the outside of the lip near the handle can be seen in photograph#4, along with a few insignificant surface hairlines. An additional surface hairline on the outside of the lip can be seen in photograph#5. A 3-1/4" long surface hairline can be seen in photograph#6. A very small chip on the base can be seen in photograph#8. The photographs show that the jug is in good overall condition. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. Here is a Vintage Stoneware Whiskey/ Water Jug with a Handle and Cork. It belonged to my in-laws and has been in storage for a long time. If the whole jug is filled it is 2 1/2 Gallons(it has a small corn cob in it that had been used where the cork is) It measures 14 1/2" Tall. 9 3/4" in Width. It weighs almost 10 lbs. empty. I don't know if this is what is considered saltware as there are no markings that I can find. It is in good condition. Antique whiskey jug primitive stoneware moonshine bottle crock pottery
Offered for auction is this interesting primitive whiskey jug. This antique has probably seen a lot of use over the years and was probably used to hold moonshine at some point. it has probably seen a lot of partying in it's day. There is a cork in it which has an opening for liquid to pass through. It is dark brown on the top portion and kind of a tan/off white on the bottom portion. Base is a little over 7 inches tall and the entire jug is about 10.5 inches high. Base is approximately 7 inches in diameter. Bottom is slightly concave and has strips of old fabric affixed. This is a Great Looking Old Jug but I Can't Say That It Actually"Holds" a Gallon of Water(or Hootch) It is very nice to look at. But it does have a crack which causes it(and me) to weep. Antique Whiskey / Moonshine JUG /Stoneware - Pottery- Crock/ Rustic - Primative
This is a very old stoneware/ pottery type jug. Likely used to hold whiskey, maybe moonshine! or water. It is 11 inches tall by 4 inches wide- I believe it is a 1 gallon capacity. The jug is a nice off white color and is all the same color which is somewhat uncommon. The neck and opening are nice and smooth. The cork is long gone sadly. There are a few chips on the bottom(not noticeable unless you flip it over) and a few rough spots and nicks along the extended lip of the body, but nothing deterring to the aesthetics of the jug. The bottom of the jug is not smooth like the rest of the jug, there are some slight ripples in the glaze and uneven coloration. The camera's flash bounced off of the surface and it may appear as though there is a crack in the bottom, however there are NO cracks in this jug. This is a really primitive piece and ... morewill look great in your rustic decor. Since it is all one color- and not two toned like so many jugs, it will be a great piece to add to a collection. this is a gorgeous 1 gallon crown stoneware jug. it has a nice brown colored glazed top. And an off white speckled painted bottom. with crown 1 gallon maker mark. it is completely made by hand. Vintage 1930's/1940's or earlier large jug crock with cork. It measures 12" tall with a 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half. The exterior bottom is glazed in the center area and unglazed around the rim showing the stoneware. There is a remnants of a loose cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $16.00 postage.
