I have the dark shiny brown jug signed E H MERILL&CO MFGD AKRON.O It is approximately 9 1/4" tall and 7" in diameter across the bottom. The opening is approximately l and 1/4" wide. It has a 1/4" spot on the handle where it is lighter in color as if the paint is worn from this area but feel hardly any difference when you rub fingers across this area. Down at the end of the handle is similar area about l/16" where it is similar but a tiny rougher feel. On the lower bottom, about l/4 way back from the signature is what I thought was an additional mark but may be an imperfection, look for this in the picture, and perhaps you will recognize it as an additional mark. The bottom edging shows some scraping along the actual edge from light use but even this isn't very rough to the feel. All in all this is a very. ... moreVery nice example of E H MERILL work. I found my information about E. H. Merill in Akron, Ohio history and it was very interesting. He had his business located in Akron, Ohio under his name during 1835-1847 making the provenance available for this jug. Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. This jug is large and heavy- 8" diameter. 9-1/4" tall, it weighs 6 pounds. The handle is large and solid and looks a little crooked- not quite square to the body of the jug. 1/2 gallon Vintage Salt Glazed Stoneware Beehive Whiskey Jug Crock
Up for bids is this old antique STONEWARE WHISKEY JUG. It is tan color and app 8"tall. It would be considered to be a Beehive Jug due to it's shape. Actually. It is wider at both the top and also the very bottom when compared to the most narrow place. No writing identification on the jug. Just an average old jug in average condition with a few chips in the bottom.

Antique Vintage Late 1800's Beehive 1 Gallon Stoneware jug with Bail Handle
This auction is from our family estate sale and was handmade and fired in the late 1800's- 1900. It is still very solid and intact. And holds one gallon of water that has been physically measured. As evident in the pictures, it has a beautiful spider webbed glazing and beige patina that has came naturally with age. It's approximately 9 1/2 inches tall and the base measures about 6 inches. The total circumference around the jug at the widest point below the shoulders is 23 1/2 inches. It's VERY heavy for its size weighing 3lbs 15.6oz empty. It has a very slight, minor chip on the back of the neck which is hard to see as it occurred quite some time ago and has darkened with age. A picture of it is included. It has a wooden stopper which has a small, plugged-hole drilled through from top to bottom. I assumed because of this that ... morewine was made in this jug at some stage in its long life. We have no solid evidence where it was made, other than our family has owned it for many generations and are originally from central Ohio with German heritage. Listed is a antique brown stoneware beehive shaped jug that could have been used for whiskey or moonshine. It does not have cork. Jug is in very good condition and has a sidearm handle. Jug measures approx. 6 1/4"H and 5" across bottom. It is maker marked. Clark or Mark with some numbers and came from family estate in Shreveport La. This would make a beautiful display piece.
