Antique Ohio Valley salt glazed stoneware wide mouth jug
This salt glazed jug appears to have been hand thrown and kiln fired. It is slightly misshaped with one side being a little flat as though it was laid on its side while the clay was still wet. It was found in a Southern Ohio homestead near Zanesville. Ohio. The jug stands 10.75 inches and is about 21 inches around. The grey toned salt glaze has an orange peel texture, the handle is hand applied. There are imperfections in the glaze, due to the primitive process, used as shown in the pictures, but no cracking. The clay exposed on the unglazed bottom is a pale pink color. There is some minor chipping around the top-please take a look at the pictures. This jug is a true piece of early Americana.
Antique Rare Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug Circa 1800's
Very Rare 1800's Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug It stands 9" tall and 6.5" wide. From handle to handle. Around the middle(belly) it measures 18" The clay looks like the clay that was used on the eastern coast in the 1800's. The clay on the east coast is much lighter clay then other parts of the US. The jug is hand thrown piece. They would have put this on a pottery wheel then turned it to produce this look, and instead of cutting the part off that help support it on the wheel, they left it there, finished it off used it as a foot. I am not quite sure the purpose of that, it seems to me a smoother bottom would have been easier, unless they had fashioned a carrier that the bottle sat down in that size. Some of the heavy glaze is worn off. Mostly on the one side. A very unusal& striking piece of pottery. It Displays ... morebeautiful. Thank you for looking. Please

Little Speckled Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug w/ Cobalt Blue Flower - Heavy!
Little Speckled Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug w/ Cobalt Blue Flowers on both sides What a Wonderful addition to your collection! This is an Pennsylvania Estate Find. A Cobalt Decorated Stoneware Jug or Bottle. Now let me say, I am not a collector of Stoneware. I did however try to research this jug. I must have looked at Thousands of pieces of Stoneware, putting in every keyword I could think of for this type of slip or glaze, and could find nothing like it. I will welcome any idea's from a collector! I do not know it's exact age. It may be vintage, Antique, but it is not marked, like most modern pieces. It is quite beautiful. With it's speckled or mottled Brown with a slight Red Rust shading glaze or slip. I don't think it's Spongeware. And with the lighter clay base is seen dotted in background, those surface dots ... moreare indented. Giving it a slightly rough surface. The brown glaze is glossy. But the Cobalt Blue floral decoration, shading slightly to a lighter Sky Blue on edges, is very high gloss. Heavy. Weighs ~2.5 pounds! Jug measures about 5-1/4" H. 6" diameter including handle May be a really rare piece! Don't miss adding it to your collection!

Antique C Hermann Whiskey Jug Salt Glazed Rust and Brown Tones 1 gallon
This is a wonderful old crockery sipping jug. Although I do not know how anyone could possibly sip from a jug as heavy as this. This weighs almost 10 pounds, you can tell it is a very old jug the minute you lift it. On the jug is the emblem for C. Hermann& Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We looked this company up and they stopped making this kind of jug in 1875 so it cannot be newer than that. It is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks. This jug is almost 9 inches high and about 6 inches in diameter. The jug has a salt glaze. The red brown color occupies the first 2/3 of the jug and then moves to dark brown to tan. The bottom is unglazed. As I said this is a very heavy item. Careful packaging requires a larger box that will hold substantial packaging material. Our items are wrapped for safety and will arrive in exactly the condition ... moredescribed and pictured. Our shipping charges may be somewhat higher to allow for safe delivery. Excess amounts paid for shipping will be refunded.

12” Vintage/Antique RCPSO AKRON OH Whiskey-Moonshine Jug Salt Glazed W-Cork
This is your chance to own an item of yesteryear. Probably had more use as a Moonshine Jug– but let’s say it’s a Whiskey Jug. Wish it could talk so we would really know what experiences it had. Let me make up one. Mountain Moonshiners would give one of these jugs for their best customers. Of course they couldn’t give out too many as it might make the Revenuers suspicious and no one wanted that” Or“Whenever word spread that the Revenuers were near– they would bury their Moonshine Jugs. Being made of porcelain and Salt Glazed Stoneware to help insulate their moonshine underground” Maybe it’s true and imagine the fun you can have spinning“yarns” about this Jug. It would make a great decorative item. Addition to your collection, or an interesting gift. You could even"Fill it Up" and drink a beverage of your choice out of it! It is in ... moreGood Age-Appropriate Condition. Please see photos for signs of it’s history as it has chips and dings. Antique Flow Blue Design Salt Glazed Stoneware Bottle, Hand Thrown
An incredible 5 1/2" tall flat neck bottle. The blue color swirling around this piece is wonderful. There are some glazing flaws on the shoulder and neck. You can see evidence of it being hand thrown on the interior of the neck. It is unsigned. But is European in origin. In the same box were items from England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. I JUST purchased this item from ebay- you can see the original item listing here: you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page) The item is GORGEOUS and exactly as described. If not better. I'm in LOVE with it, however, due to unforeseen circumstances I need to sell it, along with several other things, to repair the transmission in the only car my family has. Sadly, i'm forced to sell many beloved items so my daughter has a car to get to and from college in. Hard times really suck! sorry. ranting) This piece will not dissapoint- its awesome. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE~1-GAL. SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE JUG w/Applied Handle
This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. THIS SALE IS FOR 1 JUG- BUT GO AHEAD AND BUY THEM ALL IF YOU LIKE! CHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS. Bought directly from Germany appprox 20 yrs ago. Stoneware is gray or bluish-gray tint of the body and a heavy brilliant salt glaze which are the chief characteristics of Grenzhausen stoneware. The decoration is cobalt blue. However, this stoneware may also have purple or brown enamels. Marks seldom appear on Grenzhausen ware, and the bases, as a rule, present a smooth and carefully sponged suface. Handles were generally recurved or curled up at the lower ends, but in the later 1800's this practise was abandon and plain handles or those terminating in a flat point were much more common. Cone Topped Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug
Purchased years ago in the Berkshire Mountains. This is a large Cone Topped Stoneware Jug. It has a dark brown Albany Slip Glaze. Separated in a linewhere the cone meets the jug and then glazed over. The cork is still tightly intact. There are no marks and it is obviously a crudely finished piece that has seen it's use on the farm. All marks in the slip glaze are prior to the firing of this jug. The handle is sturdy. Thick and looks to be hand formed. This is clearly a turn of the century piece of stoneware. It measures approx 11 1/2" tall and approx. 7 1/8" at the base and a circumference of 23 7/8" Please check out all of the items in our Auctions and in our Myretromoms Ebay Store.
