In this auction we have an antique. Late 1800's ... moreglazed stoneware 1 gallon whiskey jug. We believe this piece was made by Na White& Son from Utica, New York, for the pine tree in cobalt blue was common on many of their pieces, though that is the only marking we can find on this awesome piece! It stands at approx. 10 3/4" tall and the base it 7" in diameter. We are calling it shabby chic due to two small chips out of the base and a few flea bites, but that is the only imperfections we can find in this really nice whiskey jug! If you are a collector of stoneware, look no further! Good luck! Whites Utica Pottery from internetantiquegazette(GREAT Site! Noah White began making pottery for several local firms in Utica. New York, circa 1834, In 1839 he bought out one of these companies, the Addington Pottery, and began making stoneware with the mark“N. WHITE” with the help of his son Nicholas A. White. Another son, William, joined the pottery in 1843; both were made partners in 1849 when the firm became“N. WHITE AND SONS” William White sold out in 1856 and moved to Utica, Illinois, and the firm’s mark changed to“N. WHITE AND SON” In spite of the rapid changes in company ownership

Rare Antique 5 gallon blue salt glaze jug crock pitcher
You are bidding on a very large crock or jug. It does have a handle and I believe it's a 5 gallon because it sits tall on the floor. Almost 2 feet tall. This jug is a base color of a more grey than tan as it looks in the photo and has blue markings on it. The markings look like a bug and a signature but I have been unable to identify it without a doubt so I am not listing it as any particular kind. As far as condition there are a few chips and cracks along it. As well as a bubble in the glaze which shows up as a brown knot. You can see the chip on the photo. I will be adding photos to this listing soon and will try to get zoomed in photos. The item is located in Bluefield, WV. Thank you for looking and happy bidding! On Jun-24-14 at 12:14:09 PDT. Seller added the following information: Addendum: I have added several pictures which shows ... morethe chip in the front which actually spawns a large crack. I have pictured the bubble of glaze/glue again as well as the handle which is in excellent shape.

Salt Glaze Ovoid Crock or Jug, New York, 19th Century Signed Lyons
I am so pleased to offer this wonderful antique ovoid stoneware jar or crock. Finished in a Salt Glaze finish. This crock is in great condition with no cracks or repairs. The applied handle is perfect, which is a rarity for a crock jug of this age. There is one small chip about 1 inch in diameter at the base line. The measurements of this jug are 12 inches tall, 6.75 inches diameter across the base, and circumference around the widest part at the middle is 25.5 inches. The glaze is in perfect condition with firing imperfections. There are some variations in the gray color due to the high mineral content in the soil that occurred during the firing process. This color variation is a rusty shade at the base of this crock. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy, translucent and slightly orange-peel-like texture which was formed ... moreby throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. Sodium from the salt reacts with silica in the clay body to form a glassy coating of sodium silicate. This crock has a classic ovoid shape and a terrific eye catching look. The term ovoid is used in a broader sense which refers to the shape of an egg. The 3-dimensional version of an oval is called an ovoid. Purchased from an old New York estate. This jug is signed"Lyons" Lyons, New York was a very large stoneware producing area of New York. Many noted and prominent potters are from this area. Lyon's pottery production started around 1822, in a location where the new Erie Canal was to open. The business flourished after the Erie Canal opened with canal boats used to bring in clay from NJ and Long Island and Albany. These boats also delivered finished wares all along the canal. If you are a crock or stoneware collector, this jug will be a great addition to your collection. I do apologize for the cost of postage, this jug is heavy.

Old Cobalt ? 3 Gallon Stoneware ? Beehive Salt Glaze ? Crock Jug
I know NOTHING about stoneware. In fact. I don't even know if it qualifies as stoneware, but here goes- 14 1/4 inches high with a 10 inch diameter bottom. There are no markings on the jug except the number 3(three) in blue and I assume that to be the volume of the jug- although the more I look at it, I'm thinking it could be the letter B. There is a definite crack in the finger handle and that is all there appears to be- doesn't look like it ever broke off- shows no sign of repair. It has been in our possession at least 40 years- it was purchased in Washington state(Spokane, if I remember correctly) but we have the place for sale and will be moving into a ground floor apartment with no outbuildings so it must go. Of particular interest is the brown"mottling" on the top and handle- we've never attempted to clean it ... moreso we have no idea if it will come off- original plug never been out. Feel free to ask any questions. I ship on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thanks for looking.

Vtg Antique 5 Gallon Beehive Stoneware Jug Pottery Salt Glaze Primitive Crock NR
Hello. My name is Alexandra. Please do not be afraid of my low amount of sales. I have learned from my father who has sold over 800 items on E Bay with 100% Positive feedback. You can be assured of the same experience as the people who purchased from him. It is my intention to list some of the nicest, oddest, unusual collectible old items ever. I can say this because I already have possession of them and it is just a matter of listing them. I am willing to bet this will be your favorite site to visit. I believe that I have a good eye for old unusual collectibles. Please put me on your favorite list and check back once a week to see what I am listing. All items will have insurance and a tracking# I will let you know once the item is shipped. Items will be packaged well to ensure safe delivery. I am paying my own way through college and all ... morebids are greatly appreciated. Enough introduction, I hope you enjoy this journey and here's to you becoming my favorite customer. I may ship this auction USPS or Fed Ex depending on which gives a better rate. Here is a little background on this item. I bought it first thing in the morning from a man who was selling at a flea market for the first time in southern Wisconsin. He was from Illinois. I bought several items from him and had to go back to my vehicle to get enough money to pay for everything. In the 10 minutes I was gone he had a lady who picked it up off the ground from my pile he was holding and she refused to set it down. She said it still had the price on it and therefore it was now hers. He said it was already sold and she called him"RUDE" among other things and stormed off. The jug was not priced cheap. But I really liked the look and the fact that it is so big. This made me feel that it was a wise investment that someone would get that upset over it. It holds 5 gallons and weighs over 23 pounds empty. Imagine what it weighs when full. It stands 19 1/2 inches tall. Please refer to pictures for actual condition. It would be difficult to describe each a

Antique Salt Glaze / Jasperware Pitcher / Jug w/ winged Beast/s - Staple Repair
Up for sale is this beautiful Antique Salt Glaze Pitcher/ Jug. Done in a Jasperware technique(the background/ body has a semi gloss(salt glaze? finish. Not sure if that is still Jasperware- usually the background/ body is a mat(unglazed) finish. Unfortunately. The pitcher/ jug has an antique repair to the handle, done with 2 staples/ wires(top and bottom) The handle appears to have been broken off and put back and held in place with staples/ wire. The wire goes around the handle and through the jug walls That was the standard way of repairing ceramics 100 years ago. Along the bottom crack/ break- there is a small piece of clay missing. Also has an elongated pit/ blemish on the ridge around the bottom- see pic 7. No other chips or cracks. The pitcher is approx 7 1/2" tall. 5" in dia(at it's widest- no counting the handle) and ... more6 1/2" wide from the spout to the outer part of the handle. The applied designs are beautiful with a Winged Creature- not sure if it is a exotic bird. A dragon or maybe a Griffin. Down in nice Art Nouveau flowing form Interesting figural handle as well. On the bottom there are a few different marks. There is a small impressed circle. Some letters? that i can not make out and four small piece shaped dots that form a circle. I have seen that mark before; but can not remember who's? This piece is from the mid to late 1800's. It is approx 6 7/8" at it's tallest.7 3/8" at it's widest and 4 7/8" deep. Will make a nice addition to one's collection or look lovely on it's own. S ORRY- shipping from Canada to the US is very expensive Make sure you check that out before buying. 1800S SALT GLAZE MILK PITCHER JUG THUMBPRINT INDENTION & SYMBOL SLASH MARK
1800S SALT GLAZE MILK PITCHER THUMBPRINT INDENTION SLASH MARK. Nice early to mid 1800s salt glazed pottery, either NC or SC, area, has numerous chips, what I like about it is you can see just on one side of lip spout there is an indention, most likely a thumb print, it is as if it may have slipped while turning, and was caught with a strong grip which caused this personal affect, I do not know this is what happened, but I do love the history, 10" tall, see marking on lower end Check out my!

Antique Cobalt Blue Flower Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug with Handle
Please keep in mind this jug is antique and handmade. Has a very small chip out of the top of the handle but other than that it is in pristine condition with all the normal manufacturer/glazing defects. It's an old jug and I was told it was made approx. between 1850 to 1899. It is NOT a reproduction. It does have a makers mark just below the neck of the jug but I cannot read it. To describe it I would say it is a blue dot mark with yellowish writing around the mark. It measures about 11 inches tall. Any questions please ask and I will answer as quickly as possible.

B & N - 6 Liter Cobalt Salt Glaze Antique Pottery Jug
Large old stoneware jug. Measures about 15 1/2" tall x 6 1/2" wide + handle. Great condition although factory flaws that are noted in condition description(I would rather call them character traits) There is something small floating on the inside that I have not been able to shake out- although I did shake out a mini vintage blue gumby. Popsicle stick, dried bumble bee and very old blue crayon(not included although I will include the Gumby if requested) so what is left is certain to be a surprise bonus. This will be packed for a safe journey. This weighs 7 pounds prior to packaging. I have listed a few shipping options that vary on speed and price.
