Antique Stoneware: Rare L. Kendall Ovoid Jug w/ Cobalt, Chelsea, MA, ca.1840, NR
An uncommon 2Gal. Ovoid Jug from Massachusetts. Ca.1840's. This bears The cobalt-washed stamp of Loammi Kendall, who started a small stoneware manufactory around 1836 in Chelsea, just north of Boston. His production numbers were relatively small and his name is rarely mentioned in discussions of early New England potters(L. Watkins, pp.45-46) This appears to be one of Kendall's earlier Ovoids. The form is not perfect, and the top indented- most likely bottom-stacked in the kiln. The upper and lower handle terminals are primitively brushed with vibrant Cobalt, and there is a wonderful hand-carved stopper that sits perfectly in the spout. This piece has typical manufacturing imperfections(clay scars, stack marks, inclusions, etc. but no post-production flaws! Please see photos for further description and details. A fine, early example ... morewith a primitive character that will not disappoint. This 2Gal. Ovoid weighs 8.2 lbs and measures approximately 9-1/2"W x 12-3/4"H overall. The wood stopper adds another 1-1/2" 7-Days with No Reserve! I ship professionally and promptly with tracking and full insurance included. Beautiful Stoneware/Earthenware Jug/pitcher**Rare Shape** No Reserve**
This is a RARE beautiful antique stoneware jug! It is gray with a blue raised design all over it. It has two different crests on the bottom and top and there is a very scary face right next to the pour spout. I could not find another like it online or at antique dealers. Years ago when I had an antique dealer look at it she said it was made in the early 1900's. She said it was made to hold alcohol(Wine) or water. She estimated a $400 value. since then I have not found one like it. It is quite heavy around 8lbs. Stands 18" tall and is 10 1/2" at its widest point. There are no markings on the bottom except for the#78. If anyone has any info at all on this jug I would appreciate it. It will cost approx $20 to ship this. i will need your zip code to give an exact price. Thanks for looking at my auction-If anyone has any questions ... moreplease contact me thru Ebay communications.

Antique Stoneware: RARE Pawtucket, RI Merchant Jug, Ed Smith Whiskey, ca.1870
This 2Gal. RI Merchant Jug is a real eye-catcher! I have always assumed that Horseshoes should face upward for Luck. And questioned why Edward Smith, a successful 19thC. Pawtucket Liquor Distributer, would use such a logo on his products. I then realized that the Horseshoe quickly orients itself in the proper manner when its contents are poured! A brilliant design, to say the least. In addition to the stenciled Cobalt Advertising, this Jug is also clearly impressed on the shoulder: F.T. WRIGHT& SON, STONE WARE, TAUNTON, MASS. with the 2Gal. capacity mark just below. I would date this to around 1870, based on the stamp. The overall condition is outstanding, considering its intended use. There is a shallow flake on the base, and two nicks on the spout; otherwise Mint. Antique Stoneware jug w/measuring mark rare
This is a very old jug with a decent cork and rare nearing Mark about 1/5 above the bottom of the jug and another half way. It has few minor knicks but overall looks great for its age. The glaze is almost three same color as the Stoneware so the Knicks almost blend in and can't be seen. This piece has been in my family for several generations. I can't say exactly how old this handmade piece is but it has to be more than 100 years old. It stands approximately 10 inches high and is about 20 inches around.

PRE 1680! Culture Germany Dating: pre 1680 Material: Pottery- stoneware Condition: Superb! Size: 29x17.5 cm- 1,4x6,9 inches Est. $1500-2000 Description: The vase is huge! Overall finely decorated with incised decorations. Applied floral rosettes and cobalt blue glaze. Wonderful crips and rather thin pottery, typical of the ware prior to 1680, so we find a dating nearer to 1650 more likely. Size: 29 cm. high and c. 17,5 cm. wide over the belly. Jugs and other ware from Westerwald made before 1700 are quite rare- at that time, before the industrial revolution, the production was all manual. Every item made in the early period was unique, ... moredecorated by hand and rarely replicated. The stoneware produced in Germany, especially in the Westerwald region was technologically superior to all the ceramics in the world at this time, except for the Chinese porcelain. Incised and applied stoneware decorations were completely abandoned in the 1700s as too labor extensive. Condition: Superb and strictly museum quality! No repairs, a very tiny ancient chip the the footring and a few superficial hairlines. Provenance: Private collection of old Danish Antique dealer, has not been on the market for decades! Early 1900s Antique Stoneware 1/2 Gal Whiskey Jug w/ Rare Glaze!
Early 1900s Antique Stoneware Whiskey Jug w/ a really unique and rare glaze! The yellowish mark on the lower right corner of the jug in the main photo is not a blemish or mark. It is part of the original glaze. There are no cracks or chips and the jug will still hold liquid. There is however some very minor pitting which is for the most part unnoticeable. This is a really great piece and I feel terrible getting rid of it. But I gotta pay the bills! ag6 2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28c%3Eag6%3E2-144bdbfd8ff-0x114-

early 19th C 3 gal saltglaze stoneware jug w. rare incised bird, as is
Boy. Where to begin here? To say this jug has issues is a bit of an understatement: At some point, someone dropped it and it broke into multiple pieces. I count 14 pieces, though I may have missed one or double counted one. Then they glued it all back together, so you see it as it is. I would have to say neither the word'hairline' or'crack' seems adequate. But clearly, we can be thankful they didn't throw it all away, because otherwise she is indeed a rarity- the early 19th C ovoid form with a boldly incised bird that would otherwise make this piece a centerpiece of anyone's collection. But here is, that's what I have. And since it wasn't me that broke it or glued it together, I have no idea what glue was used and thus cannot be certain of the opportunities for restoration. As for dimensions, she's appx ... more15" high, 10" in diameter at its widest point and 6" at the base(what you see on the base is some tape residue from when, I assume, she was being glued together) Offered without reserve, domestic USPS shipping will run $36(if less I will refund) RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf54%3E-14563241fb8-0x10d-
