Vintage 1 GALLON Handle JUG Brown Glaze Pottery Moonshine Crock Beehive
My parents bought this jug at a rural farm estate sale decades ago. I measured myself and it held approx. one gallon plus two cups of water. No leaks. It stands approx. 9.5" tall, with a 7.5" diameter at the base. I believe the shape is known as"beehive" but I'm not sure.I am NOT an expert on this sort of item! I have examined it carefully and can find no damage other than that associated with many years of normal use. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom surface is quite rubbed, and the underside of the handle is missing the glazed surface. But I see NO cracks and actual chips; there are places where the surface is uneven but I think that was part of the hand made process. There are also small surface bubbles. No maker marks that I can see. I will package carefully with lots of wrapping and foam noodles. Shipping ... morewill be via USPS with tracking and insurance. After listing. Antique Stoneware Crock Whiskey Moonshine Ceramic Jug 1 Gallon with Cork
Large Antique Stoneware Crock Whiskey Moonshine Jug. This is a nice antique or vintage stoneware moonshine jug. It has a brown top and off-white body. The diameter of the base is 7 1/4 inches and it stands 10 1/2 inches high. I assume that it is 1 gallon size. The cork is starting to deteriorate but it still fits in the hole so I am including it. There are no chips. Cracks or any signs of repairs, There is some light crazing and other usual glaze pops and imperfections that all antique stoneware exhibits. There aren't any words or manufacturer marks on it. I got this from the estate of a relative. I am just guessing on the age being in the 1900- 1940 range based on the other items in his collection. Vintage 2 gallon jug with I believe the salt glazed. Its approx. 13 1/2"x 9" brown or tan in color with the tulip& number 2 in blue. I'm not sure if its a tulip or not but from the ones on ebays that would be the closes to what it looks like. It has a couple tiny chips on the top edge and 1 on the side.
