Ormolu, spelter and alabaster. The clock is decorated on the top with a Greek or Roman Poet. This is a very rare item and is not a reproduction. You can appreciate the quality of the work by looking at all the subtle details! Highly collectable item that will no longer be available. So bid high if you are interested on it! Dimensions: 14.8” tall; 22” long; and 6.5” wide. FINE EGYPTIAN REVIVAL EMPIRE STYLE MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK Paris. C. 1910, Retailed by R.J. Horner of New York Item# 206LNZ24A This French Empire style longcase clock is crafted of the finest solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. The deep ruby red of the patinated surface glowing under layers of waxes like a polished jewel. It is delightfully embellished with a series of quite fine gilded metal mounts of classical and Egyptian inspiration, the latter being particularly highly sought after by collectors of the period. The triangular crest is solid oak secondary with mahogany veneers and a cockbead molding round the edges, the center mounted with a classical scene of a Putto led in his chariot by two horses through the swirling clouds of the heavens. A mask of Dionysus hangs as the pendulum in an original wavy glass window. Side doors on either side of the clock open over original hinges to allow access to the clock without moving it. The back of the clock also boasts an upholstered door, opening to broadly reveal the works and interior. The clock rests over a pedestal lower section. Crafted of solid mahogany pillars crested by cast bronze palmettos. The back of the clock is heavily oxidized, nearly black in some areas. Antique French Empire Gilt Bronze Clock with Allegory of Love c1820 This gorgeous Empire clock is made in France around 1820. Clock is flanked by a gilt bronze figurine of the lady who raises the curtain on sleeping on a pillow angel. The base of the clock is rich decorated with musical attributes and the floral ornaments Gilding is all over in good condition with normal wear due to the age. Enamel dial with Roman numerals is in good condition. Dial signed J.J. Banset& B.dela. Cour French movement is with silk suspension. Key and pendulum included.
