The piece is made of fantastic quarter sawn oak with an excellent original finish with great reddish color. The piece has great form with an overhanging top. A wide lower shelf, and the legs have a slight taper at the bottom. The original hand hammered copper pulls are present and have original pyramid screws. The sides are pinned and the piece is signed with an early red decal in one drawer. The piece is model#819 and is extremely decorative and very usable. Here is an absolutely fabulous find if you are looking for a gorgeous oak sideboard or perhaps welsh dresser base to serve as an additional counter. Large flat screen TV stand, work surface, server or even hallway table or console piece in any room in your home or business. Arriving with my consignors most recent shipment of antiques from the UK, this gorgeous old sideboard has some nice age and I attempt to use my photographs to show it's quality construction and ample functional storage in a wonderful solid wood cabinet. This piece has two large side drawers and four central drawers, all beautifully dovetailed and two of which are actually divided felt lined drawers. On each side is functional open cabinet space behind decorative wood doors and the piece appears to have it's original old hardware as well. This awesome sideboard ... moremeasures 60 inches by 18 inches front to back and is 36 inches tall. The perfect height for a work surface. The four central drawers are each 16 1/4 inch wide by 12 1/2 inches front to back and are 3 1/2, 5, 6 and 7 inches deep, respectively with the top two drawers being the two felt lined divided buffet drawers. This Auction is for an ANITIQUE SOLID OAK(TIGER? BUFFET SERVER SIDEBOARD Manufactured by Grand Rapids Chair Co. This bu ffet table does have some fairly unique features. The bottom drawer is a s ingle full width drawer! There i s a built-in felt lined silverware drawer in the right cabinet! Each set of cabinets are designed to lock! note- locks are in place- there are no keys) The Buffet Table is Approximately 6' 72" in length x 38" Tall(42.5" tall including back splashboard) x 23" Deep The cabinet height from the top of the legs is approximately 22" Over all. This buffet table is in very good condition for it's age, but it does need some minor repairs- please see below for details- The top of the table does show wear from use and age. Most of the wear is sur face wear and a lot of it could probably be buffed ... moreout if so desired. The photo was taken at an angle to capture the detail and over emphasi zes the appearance. Aesthetically. The biggest issue is the small piece of missing trim on the right side of the left half of the drawer. There are two spindles that are not in place across the bottom. Unfortunately. There is only one spindle available, the second spindle is missing and will need to be replaced. Functionally. The drawer is currently difficult to open and close, but I believe this is due to the bottom spindles not being in place and would be easily remedied. There is a small area(about quarter sized) on the left top of the table that was there at the time the table was made and is simply a characteristic fl aw in the wood that was used and simply adds to the unique antique characteristics of the entire piece. These are all relatively easy repairs. But they are repairs that are best left to those with experience in the area of antique repairs. Overall- a very beautiful piece of American history! Solid oak with raised panels. This antique furniture was hand crafted in Scandinavia. Brass hardware is original, locks and keys work. Drop fronts open to pull out tray drawers. The top has been revarnished for durability. The base is original and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Circa 1920 Oak Back splash is not original Few small stains(see description) Sturdy and heavy Has key, Made from a wonderful selection of English oak. This antique Arts and Crafts sideboard is a sturdy and beautiful addition for any dining room. Not only does it provide more than ample storage, it also has a unique and eye-catching look to it. This sideboard was made sometime around the year 1920 in England. The oak wood has a lovely. Light patina that will continue to grow deeper and more beautiful ... moreas it ages. For storage there are two large drawers and three cabinet sections. Both drawers open and close easily and were constructed with dovetailed drawer joints. There are two large drop ring brass handles on each drawer. The three cabinet doors are each decorated with beautiful carvings that have a very regal look to them. The left cabinet contains two pull out slides that are lined with green felt. the felt is old and dingy) The center cabinet is completely open although it appears to have had shelves or slides at one point. The right hand cabinet has one pull out drawer at the bottom which appears to be a later addition to the piece. All three doors lock and one key is included. Being such a heavy and sturdy Arts and Crafts sideboard this piece has withstood the test of time very well. There are a few minor cosmetic issues to mention. There is a small light stain on the bottom moulding near the left front foot. The right side panel has a slight age separation to it. The top has a few old stains and a ring mark. Here we have a beautiful French Oak display case. The front door is carved oak in a Deco style. It has beveled glass all around with a mirrored back. It measures 19 1/2 inches tall. 13 3/8 inches deep and 14 3/8 inches wide. The interior plate glass shelf measures 12 1/2 inches by 11 1/4 inches. It is in excellent condition with a slight bit of finish loss to the top only. The lock works smoothly and has the original brass Art Deco key. This is one of a pair we are selling, originally meant to sit on the top of a sideboard. Note there is an unobtrusive groove on one side of the case that would originally allow a mirror to be held between the two cases(see photo nea the bottom) This particular case is the right hand opening door, i.e. the lock is on the left.
