Quartered oak barrister bookcase Globe leaded glass top door graduated --14508
This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. Here's an un-marked oak bookcase with very nice lines. 19-1/2" wide by 48" tall. The sides taper from 12" deep at the floor to 9-1/2" deep at the top. The glass in the doors is original and in excellent condition. The latches and hinges are original and in good working condition. Note: the small missing piece of fake tenon end and the slight separation of a shelf glue joint. Also the glue blocks underneath are missing. Finish is original and has not been played around with. This is a very nice five stack graduated stepback barrister quartered oak bookcase. This case was manufactured by Globe Wernicke; a competitor of Macey and some of the other bookcase makers. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This quartered oak unit retains the original Globe labels. Bookcase contains four different sizes of cases(stacks) to accommodate different size books(or whatever) This unit also has a stepback bottom unit which is deeper-quite useful. This unit has been professionally refinished and restored-a beautiful smooth and even finish. Note the'leopard' bands connecting each section. The top four sections are 11 deep and the large bottom section is 14 deep. The top section is 9.5 high. The middle two sections are 11.5 high The next section is 13.5 high. This is certainly a very fine quartered quarter sawn oak Danner bookcase. Interesting sliding door bookcase(works perfectly) which we have refinished with a smooth and even finish. Danner bookcases were made in Ohio in the early 20th century. This model has the original leaded glass windows on the top section and the original plain glass windows in the bottom section. The design of these bookcases were much like a barrister bookcase in that each section'stacks' on top of the lower one; made for easy moving. Etc. Each side has original adjustable shelves. This is a pretty quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. A graduated style with three different heights for each stack; more versatile and functional piece. Each of the stacks have original leaded glass in perfect condition. We have refinished this piece and it has a smooth authentic finish. Note the drawer in the base. The original metal'leopard' side bands, original brass pulls, and the beading on the underside of the top. Rare Pair Oak Leaded Glass Barrister 1/2 Stack Bookcases w/ Clawfeet
These Bookcases feature 4 stacks each with top and bottom. The bottom has claw feet with a drawer. They have leaded glass panels that operate good when opening and closing- they slide smooth. They are solid structure all of the sections fit nice and tight no wobble or shakeyness. They are unmarked. The finish has some aligatoring. The backs of the sections may have been replaced at one time or another although the outer wood looks to be original finish They are in excellent condition as shown in photos. We are not sure of the exact age on the bookcases there was not a Globe wernicke sticker or a Macey brand we could find. The bookcases came out of the Dr. Clark Wrather's Estate in Bokoma. Oklahoma. He moved there 15 years ago and Dr. Wrather's daughter said they had the bookcases with them when they moved to Oklahoma but she didn't ... moreknow where he acquired them. This is a rather unusual 5 stack barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a stacked bookcase or lawyer's bookcase. Executed in quartered quarter sawn oak and with the top unit having leaded glass(although all stacks are interchangable if desired) Additionally. The piece has a drop front desk(with fitted interior) as one section and also four drawers as one of the other sections. The other two sections have original glass and are a different height(graduated) to accommodate different size books(one is 11 high and one is 13.5 high) In wonderful original condition with a smooth, even finish and no evidence of'alligatoring' Note the original brass pulls on the drawers-I even have the original key for the desk. This is the best two door quartered quarter sawn oak bookcase I have had in some time. All original with leaded glass on the top portion of each door and original wavy glass on the bottom. This is a really great quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyer's bookcase or a stacker. We have refinished this piece and it has a smooth, even, and authentic finish. A beautiful bookcase with graduated units varying in height- one 13.5, one 11.5, one 9.5 and the top leaded glass unit 9.5 inches. Antique Larkin Mission oak leaded stained glass doors bookcase
Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture. Adorable half size quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. These were mostly made by Globe Wernicke or Macey Co. but I do not know the manufacturer of this one. Piece is executed in quartered oak with leaded glass doors. Each with pretty beveled diamonds. Additional highlights include a sculptured top and a full skirt. Completely professionally refinished(some of the backs may have been replaced) and in excellent condition(beautiful smooth surface) with all doors operating perfectly. Note drawer in bottom section and ball and claw feet. 17 wide x 12 deep x 59.5 high. Super piece. Small enough to ship UPS. Glad to answer any questions you might have.
