It has a white and gray grain marble top. The wood has aged to a natural patina over the last 140 years. The overall size is 40 inches wide, 25 inches deep and 31 inches high. It would look great in an entranceway with a floral arrangement or leaded lamp on top. It has fluted, reeded acanthus carved legs that terminate in a ball foot with original castors. It has a center cross member piece that has a bold center finial. The natural patina is gorgeous of the aged walnut. It has the normal nicks and dings for the age. Couple tight surface cracks, few ligt stains, blemishes, and a light streak that I cannot determine the cause of, but overall very nice. SIZE: HEIGHT: 27" WIDTH of top: 20" by14" Nice and sturdy CONDITION: Table is excellent. Though I did take a closeup of a dark line you can feel, on one leg, and a closeup of the same leg on other side. As you can see, the line does not go all way through, so I do not know what it is. You may notice a few small areas of different tone, probably different pieces of wood took stain differently. The marble top is described above, and could use a gentle polishing, but not necessary. This is a white and gray grain marble top table with a heavily carved base. Dating from the 1870s or‘80s. It was ... moremost likely partially made by Thomas Brooks, but we can’t guarantee it. It certainly has the heavily carved trademark style of Brooks. It has carving on every part of the base you can see, including burl panels, big carved leaves, incise carving, fluted tapered center columns, amazing carved skirts. The only thing I can see that is a negative is that the marble itself could use some bleaching or buffing. It’s 130 years old, so it looks period, and will look fantastic if cleaned, polished, or replaced. The overall size is 32 inches wide on the marble, 25 inches deep, and 30.5 inches tall. The table has been professionally refinished at some point in the past and has a wonderful color, patina and look. Big beautiful slab of thick grey and white Vermont marble in super condition. Super carving and applied moldings to the legs and 4 wonderful carved female heads on the 4 sides of the deep skirt in cartouches framed with swagged drapes. From the headress and hair style, they appear to be either Egyptian or Grecian styles, hence the attribution. Antique Victorian Baltimore Rococo Marble Top Center Table Signed Merryman 1840
This is a fabulous rosewood Rococo center table signed by a cabinetmaker out of Baltimore. The bottom of the marble is stamped twice by Oliver P Merryman. Cabinetmaker, Howard& Fayette St, Baltimore. The table is 53 inches long, 27 inches wide and 30 inches high. It has a unique color of marble on it. The carving on the table, especially the legs and cross brace is exquisite. Around the edge of the marble is carved trim of about one and one-half inches wide. Two of the pieces of trim, one large and one small have been replaced and are well carved replacements. The marble has been cracked in several places and has not been glued. I figured I would leave this to the new owner as there are various ways to handle the repairs. There is a brace installed underneath to support the crack in the marble. The brace is quite old and may be from the ... more19th century. Regarding the background on the maker this is information that was received from the Baltimore Historical society. This is in response to your request for information relating to Oliver P. Merryman, a Baltimore cabinetmaker. According to Gregory Weidman’s Furniture in Maryland, Oliver P. Merryman(fl. 1845-1861) specialized in‘first class cabinet furniture’ that won top prizes in the Maryland Institute’s annual exhibition. Biographical information in Weidman indicates that he had furniture warerooms at the corner of Fayette and Howard Streets from 1847-1848. I refer you to Weidman’s book, Furniture in Maryland 1740-1940(Maryland Historical Society, 1984) for additional information. Merryman’s works are pretty scarce and I suspect this may be one of the best pieces that he ever produced. This piece is available for pickup in Daphne, Alabama at our shop. Antique Victorian Eastlake Marble Top Walnut Foyer Hall Side Occasional Table
This lovely antique Victorian Eastlake foyer/ hall/ side table features a walnut base with intrique detailing. Original dark finish, original white marble top with gray veining and casters on feet(while old and in place for quite some time based on signs of aged metal, the casters are likely not original because they are not wood casters, so it makes sense that they were replaced at some point) I believe the table is late 1800s, but it could be as late as 1900-1920(I can't find the original paperwork) There are no chips or cracks in the wood base, and the marble top is great condition, with no damage. There is one small light brown-ish spot on marble from where price tag was when I bought the table(see photo) but since it is on the surface(versus in the marble) and you can feel it with your finger, I am sure it is the remnants of the ... moresticky side of the price tag that could be buffed out(I never bothered to try) All four legs have casters, but one of the casters has a few very small chips to the wheel part. 19th C. Antique VICTORIAN MARBLE TOP PARLOR TABLE WITH DRAWER Herter Bros. Stand A mid 19th century walnut marble top parlor table with drawer and brass casters. There are no marks identifying the maker however. In research we have found identical tables that are paint decorated and manufactured by Herter Bros. New York and we believe this to be an example by them as well. The marble is mottled gray and white and sits on a walnut base. It stands 30-1/2” high with the marble in place and the ¾” thick marble top measures 24” x 38” The inside of the drawer measures 20” x 17-1/4” and is 2” deep. Condition: Sometime during its life it has been refinished and has had some gluing repairs. The marble has a tight 4” stress hairline and with the cut of the marble shaped as it is there are typical fine nicks found along the edges. There is one ... morechip of wood on the back of the bottom edge of the drawer but it doesn’t affect operation and can’t be seen with the drawer in place. Antique Eastlake Victorian Carved Rosewood Parlor Table White Beveled Marble Top
Spectacular Antique Victorian Marble Top Parlor Table. Exceptional details on this table set it apart from the rest. Intricate and unusual pierced carvings on the legs. Very little blank area anywhere on the table. Lots of carving, cutouts and curves. The white marble top is original to the table, nicely beveled ends and cut corners to follow the lines of the table. White wheels, also original to the table are a big plus. Very sturdy construction. For the sake of accuracy, there are a couple of insignificant marks on the marble, and a small 3 1/2" crack line on one end which does not show on the bottom of the marble so it is not all the way through. The wood base is in exceptional condition for a 125 year old, with no issues to mention. Please see the detailed photos, they are a part of the description. Up for your consideration is this ANTIQUE VICTORIAN EASTLAKE WALNUT MARBLE TOP PLANT STAND CANDLE TABLE MEDIEVAL. The marble top has some light surface scratching. A couple small nicks and some light staining. I have made no attempt to clean it. It is 28 1/2" tall with a 14" wide leg spread and the beveled marble top is about 11" across. The walnut appears to be in very good shape overall, one leg looks to have a surface or very shallow crack about an 1 1/4" long(see pictures) Would make a very nice addition to your Victorian parlor or medieval manor.
