It has burl walnut trim on the fronts with an ogee bevel edge around the routed top. It has a black felt interior on the writing surface that is nice. The finish on the sides is amazing. It has panel sides, rope twisted molding, detail cast brass hardware, escutcheons are intact. There are no keys or locks. The desk is 48 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 30 inches tall. The carvings. Period details and burl walnut accents on this 19th century desk are just beautiful and this desk is definitely heirloom quality.a beautiful statement piece for your home! This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. As you can see in the pictures this desk could easily be in the center of a room for it is as lovely on the back as the front and is finished beautifully all the way around. This Victorian Eastlake cylinder roll desk circa 1880 is in fabulous antique condition. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Oak is the main wood with Walnut and Birds Eye Maple as the secondary(drawer fronts and desk top) Needs a cleaning and a light touch up but otherwise a great desk that would make a statement in your home! Tall Antique Victorian Oak Cylinder Desk Carved Secretary Glass Front Shelves
Fantastic Victorian era cylinder top desk. Made from oak with pine secondary woods. Panelled back and sides. The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable shelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper ... morecabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. One of the back feet looks like it has been repaired. See picture. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. This is a solid walnut carved art- nouveau/craftsman- styled desk which is finished on all four sides. I am estimating it was made between 1895-1915. When this style was gaining popularity. However, this kind of desk is extremely RARE. Especially since it is finished on all four sides. The very first photo has the front finished side with the five drawers/cabinets, and the other side has the identical carvings but with no drawers(last photo listed) There are also two different close-ups of either side of the most carved part, photos 2 and 7. The very first picture is a photo of the desk without the red felt covering, which was replaced recently after it was discovered through restoration work that the original top of the desk was red felt originally. It appears to have some newer brass finished handles and lock bezels. There are some very unique carvings along the top spindles and on the drop down leaf. There is a key for the desk lock. Offered today for your consideration! A very important American Victorian mechanical desk/ games table. A very rare find made by the Brushke Furniture Co. In Chicago. A one of a kind survivor this piece is both a parlor or games table the is convertible to a writing desk. The top swings up and the desk portion emerges for the center of the piece as if by magic! Tis is Victorian ingenuity! The piece is carved with faces in the renaissance revival style and is made from beautiful tiger oak. The center desk portion lifts and descends by a gear and cable mechanism. This is one of the most unusual pieces of American Victorian and we are thrilled to offer it! Note the ornately carved legs and figures at the center which hide the desk and mechanisms. It was made in Chicago circa 1860 to 1880. There is a very light stamp bearing the name Brushke ... moreon the inside of the lift up drawer lid that is visible when the desk is open. The piece is very solid and in over all good condition and would be as usable today as it was 150 years ago. There is an age crack at the top of the letter compartment that pops up. This is a Victorian 54-inch-wide roll-top desk of solid black walnut with molded panels and carved handles. That dates from the 1880 era. ... moreIt has been completely stripped, re-glued, refinished, the canvas roll has been all re-canvassed, and we had to re-fabricate one handle(bet you can’t tell which one when you see the desk! Any molding damaged was replaced, any panels that were damaged were replaced, any wood damaged or ink-stained was replaced– we do one heck of a job when we go through a desk! The interior has burl walnut pencil trays and cubby drawers, and the original letter holders on both sides of the desk. We’ve even replaced the felt insert with the original factory dark green color. It has an applied beveled edge base, and a finished off back. We always put a reproduction roll-top lock in, which will be done before shipping. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 36 inches deep, 30 inches high to the writing surface from the floor, and 50 inches high to the top of the desk. The lock mechanism prevents the drawers from opening when the roll-top is down. Large Antique Victorian Burled Walnut Wood Lap Desk - Bed Tray
This is one gorgeous piece of wood. It is burled walnut and is from the early 1800s. It is a lap desk or maybe used as a bed tray. It is 32" long and 14" tall. It is in really nice condition. You can obviously tell it is a true antique but I don't see any chips on the edges, etc. Please ask if you have questions. I usually do not take returns but if you are not pleased with this desk I will gladly refund your purchased price, but you will need to cover the shipping both ways. I also realized I have one negative feedback and did not realize it. I am talking to ebay now about getting that removed. It was for a $5.00 set of door knobs and to a new buyer. He was mixed up about the process and never told me he was unhappy. I have not listed anything for months and just saw his feedback! Victorian 1875 Antique Cylinder Rolltop Walnut Desk. Leather Top. Beautifully crafted about 1875 during the Victorian period. A cylinder or barrel rolltop desk is solid walnut with burl panels. The satiny finish is in excellent condition with warm antique patina on this American made furniture. Under the matched grain roll top are cubicles and a drawer for papers. The saddle leather writing surface pulls out to use. Lower drawers have round or"pin and cove" dovetail joints, characteristic of the period. The newel posts act as a base box for the computer speakers we mounted in two antique Victrola horns. The horns swivel so you can direct the sound wherever you want. The computer tower is all new. Computer specs: Amd quad core processor. 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB ram, Windows 7 pro, DVD burner and a 600 watt power supply. The monitors are used as are the keyboard and mouse. The lights are set up to turn on 1,2 or 3 at a time. The desk slides in and out and the lid can be closed and locked. great victorian desk that sat on a table. 12 1/2" wide x 12" tall x 9" deep. desk has great interior made of burl wood with original finish, brass hardware on top, do not have key for lock, has small backsplash but little finials are missing, on left door when open has spots for writing tools and right door has frame i think a blotter went in?has 2 square spots on bottom for inkwells, rare desk you will not see often probably 1860 to 1880.
