The center top of the mirror is graced with a beautiful scrolled foliate crown with carved grape cluster center. This beautiful crown is removable for shipping purposes and sits on the gorgeous mirrored top which is adorned with elegant moulding. Many raised burled panels, rosette roundels, fancy leaf carved shoulders, four candle-stands(unusual as most Victorian dressers only have two) and elegant pierced carved grape and leaf carved ornamentations on the sides. Foyer, or for storage in a living room, this antique dresser with slide is full of rustic charm! Originally made in England around the year 1890 it exhibits the character and elegance we come to expect from fine English antique furniture. The wood used is solid oak which has remained sturdy over all these years. The patina that has set in is attractive and warm in color. Much of the rustic ... morecharm that comes from this dresser are from the old marks and dings found throughout. They are quite prevalent especially on the sides and top. Some of these marks were probably caused by woodworm but they are long gone from the furniture. We often see these marks in antiques and they lend a look that cannot be duplicated. One of the more unique features of this piece is the brushing slide at the top. It was originally used to lay clothes out on while brushing the lint off them. This slide is covered in green felt. Also unique to this chest are the brass drop pulls. They have a very unusual shape and a ring pull. They appear to be original to the chest. Overall the condition of this dresser is very good. The felt is quite old and shows plenty of wear. We have already mentioned that the wood has sustained minor marks dings. And wood worm marks over the years. These are part of the antique dresser with slide’s charm and do not affect the integrity of the structure of the chest. These marks are found all over the piece. The top was made of two boards of oak and over the years they have shrunk ever so slightly so there is a slight gap at the ends. No key remains for the drawers. The

This auction if for an Antique Oak Highboy Dresser from 1890's to around 1905 era. This is quarter sawn oak which is also know as Tiger Striped. It has 6 drawers. 2 small and 4 large also know as a 2 over 4. The drawers are serpentine bowed. The mirror is beveled and in good condition. The best part about this piece is that it is has not been refinished or altered since it was manufactured. The photo speaks for itself. This piece is massize measuring approximately 94" tall and 53.5" wide. Good luck finding another of this quality and size. Aside from a few minor flaws to the top and dulling of the finish, I can't fault this piece. Considering the age, I would give this a 8 or 9 out of 10. Offered for sale is this 19th Century Victorian dresser and Mirror combo made from Oak. Walnut and Poplar. To the best of my knowledge it has not been refinished. The number"81" is stamped into the back of the mirror in two different places. I can find no other markings. Hidden drawer has at one time had the bottom replaced with newer thin plywood. It is only visible when pulled out and upside down. Dimensions are Width-39 Depth-20 Height-73* When unlatched. The mirror tilts forward and backward. Drawers all operate smoothly.
