Neolithic Sahara Shallow Stone Bowl Or Lamp Arrowhead Artifact
This was purchased with a large collection of Saharan points and other artifacts. I am not sure what it was used for but think it might have been a open lamp or odd bowl. For similar items see C.E. Klenkler's book"Sahara Prahistorische Artefakte" book 2. It appears to be made of a fine grained.Hard sandstone. It measures 6 1/2" or 16.5cm. in length, 3 1/2 or 9cm wide, and about 1" or 2.5 cm in diameter. Any questions please ask. Posted with
32 Sahara Neolithic relics - tools, celt, beads, and 1 paleolithic tool.
This group of 32 Sahara Neolithic relics is composed of diverse types of relics. Which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes two trianglar Eiffel Tower points from Algeria. This group consist of several types and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 18 stone projectile points and tools, 10 hard-stone quartz disc beads, one pottery bead(western Mauratania) one hardstone celt, and a cylindrical labret of quartz thought to be used in body piercing or lips or ears. Not perfect, it probably is not comple at the squared off end. There are two unifacil blades seen at the bottom. They are from the late Mesolithic era or early ... moreNeolithic Morocco. Dating to approximately 7,000 years Before Present. At the upper right you will see an Auterian tool. This is the earliet known type of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. It is classic form with a tipped which is worked around for scrapping(not broken) This relic is a good 30,000 years old, possibly much older. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find. The shortest point is a biege triangle of 7/8th inch(21 mm) long. The longest tool is a nice ovate blade of 2 5/8th inches(66 mm) long. The celt is 1 1/4 inches(32 mm) long. Heel to bit. It has been worked down to a stubby form with a bit dulled from usage. Th ese are everyday work tools and adornments used. And lost or discarded by our Neolithic and earlier hunter-gatherer ancestors. They are all honest, authentic relics in good shape, some will exhibit minor ancient damage(as seen in he photograph) Such as dings, usually to tips, tangs, and/or barbs to stemmed points. Small dings are to be expected given their delicacy, usage, and 4000+ years lying in the desert, subject to damage by adverse weather, animals, and now 4-w

Ancient Scandinavian Stone Age Neolithic Flint Axe
A beautiful. Rare and well provenanced Neolithic axe, dating to approximately 4000- 2000 B.C. and found in Scandinavia. This beautiful chip stone tool was made from a large piece of flint. Broken down and then chipped into form, remnants of attractive surface flaking remain in areas of the axe which are not so highly polished. Axes like this would have been attached to a sturdy wooden handle and used for chopping up trees. This tool has been ground on a larger. Flat stone and polished, a task which would have taken many hours of hard labour and care to complete and giving it an attractive smooth finish. This fascinating early flint implement. Dates to the north-west European Neolithic period(approx 4000-2000 B.C. This period saw the dawn of civilization, when Early man was leaving the Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle towards a more sedentary, farm-oriented ... moreexistence. This transition is one of the overwhelming achievements of man, enabling food surplus and the rise of civilization. Length: 6 inches. Condition: Excellent. Old collection label bearing'Denmark' likely the country of origin) still clearly visible. Provenance: An extremely well provenanced piece. From the collection of James Curle(1862-1944) of Melrose, Scotland, and thence by descent. Was a period in the development of human technology, beginning about 9500 BC in some parts ... moreof the Middle East, and later in other parts of the world. It is traditionally considered the last part of the Stone Age. The Neolithic followed the terminal Holocene Epipalaeolithic period. Beginning with the rise of farming, which produced the" Neolithic Revolution" and ending when metal tools became widespread in the Copper Age( chalcolithic) or Bronze Age or developing directly into the Iron Age. Depending on the geographical region. The Neolithic is a measured progression of behavioral and cultural characteristics and changes, including the use of wild and domestic crops and the use of domesticated animals. Domestication of sheep and goats reached Egypt from the Near East possibly as early as 6000 BC. Graeme Barker states"The first indisputable evidence for domestic plants and animals in the Nile valley is not until the early fifth millennium bc in northern Egypt and a thousand years later further south. In both cases as part of strategies that still relied heavily on fishing, hunting, and the gathering of wild plants" and suggests that these subsistence changes were not due to farmers migrating from the Near East but was an indigenous development, with c
Hohle Fels Germany Water Bird, 32 000 years old - replica
This is exact professional cast resin replica of a water bird figurine from Hohle Fels. Germany. More info: Hilde Jensen. University of Tübingen) This figurine from Hohle Fels is of a water bird of some sort. Its pieces were recovered in 2001 and 2002 near the bottom of the Aurignacian sequence. The sculpture depicts a water bird. Perhaps a diver, cormorant or duck. The figurine measures 47 x 13 x 9 mm. The eyes are easily recognizable and the beak has a conical, pointed form. The legs of the bird are short, but they lack feet, perhaps because to represent the bird in flight. The tail extends below the legs and is illustrated as flat. The back is etched with a series of distinct lines representing feathers. The waterbird figurine was recovered from levels that date between 31.000 and 33,000 years old. I will send worldwide. Terrific Semicircular Scraper, Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx. 600.000 BC
Terrific Semicircular Scraper. Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx. 600.000 BC Description Type: semicircular scraper on flake. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Lower Palaeolithic. Lower Acheulian. Dating: archaeological research in Western Europe proved that the European continent has been conquested as early as 1.3 to 1,1 Mio years(finds of Atapuerca/ Spain) Early Pleistocene. The assignment of the oldest human finds at Atapuerca to a particular early human species as Homo erectus or Homo antecessor is still controversial. As controversially discussed is the earliest date of permanent colonization of Europe, and good dating of the high gravel terraces of southern French rivers is still lacking. So we suggest an estimated time frame of approx. 800.000 to 400.000 BP. Description: Size: length 7.0 cm, width 9,1 cm, thickness 3,7 cm, weight 295 ... moregrams, Shape. Retouch: a terrific small(in comparison to other early tools from this site) semicurcular scraper. It is made on a flake with flat cortical base. And is retouched at the entire margin except the base. The front and back are thinned at the lower right(left) corner. Raw-material: grey quartzite. The most common raw-material on the Garonne terraces. Preservation: very well: the surface is somewhat weathered and flake scars are slightly rounded. But still well defined. One tiny recent chip at the scraper edge(corner distal end– right edge) which in no way detract from value and beauty of this terrific tool! Additional Information. Literature: The pebble tools found on the high gravel terraces of the Garonne. Tarn and Aveyron river are among the earliest tools found in Europe. Lit: A. Stunning is the retouch at the proximal end/ platform ... moreremnant(pictures 9 and 10) Raw-material: creamy beige patinated Bergerac flint, Preservation: very well: on flat larger and few very small recent scars at the left edge of the interior side. They do not detract from value and beauty of this interesting point, Additional Information. Literature: the region around Bergerac is famous for its beautiful multicolored flint of high quality. These flint deposits have been exploited by Homo Erectus. Nenaderthals and Cro Magnons from Lower to Upper Paleolithic. Many open-air sites have been unearthed in this region in the last 60 years, some of which are quite famous. It is a region with important Acheulian sites. Finds, most important handaxes and cleavers, were crucial for Acheulian tool typology and definition. Neolithic Danish stone age thick necked axe, ca. 2000-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish thick necked axe. Ca. 2000-1500 BC Weight: 390 grams. Len gth: 15 cm. Width: 5 cm, height: 2.5 cm Th ese thick necked axes came into use in the single grave period and up to the beaker culture and dagger time(dolktid) This axe. Polished on the front and back, unpolished on the sides, has a real marble-like feel about it. It has lovely patina. Super high gloss. It has damage on the cutting edge. But not enough to detract from the beauty of the piece. This is a working axe. So of course work-re lated scars occur. T o my mind these scars are perfectly respectable. But of course that is a matter of taste. This axe was found by my husband in Halk(south-east Jutland. Denmark) on a rainy day in December.

This type of corn sickle was used right up to the youn ger bronze age. This corn sickle was found in 1895. But it is difficult to read the find place. It is from an old collection.

Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 45mm - 4000BC (C005)
Neolithic 45mm Width: 20mm Material: Flint Colour: Grey Type: Concave Base Triangle Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. This is not a reflection on the density of usage of these items but more a reflection of the areas current climate- being very arid it makes it easier to find these items. The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert. Over 9,000,000 km²(3,500,000 mi²) almost as large as the United States. The Sahara is located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. Its name, Sahara, is an English pronunciation of the word for desert in Arabic. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean on the west. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on ... morethe south. The Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. The Sahara divides the continent of Africa into North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The southern border of the Sahara is marked by a band of semiarid savanna called the Sahel; south of the Sahel lies the lusher Sudan and the Congo River Basin. During the Late Neolithic period(approx 4000BC– 2000BC) the Sahara had a much wetter climate(sometimes known as the Aqualithic) and was akin to modern day North America. Arrowheads are typically collected and traded by the local nomadic peoples of the Sahara. They find them as the sand dunes move and they travel around seasonally grazing their herds. Finding and collecting items such as these provides them with a reasonable, stable income. Payment via Paypal only- sorry. Had problems with other methods in the past. Payment within 7 days please. Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 31mm - 4000BC (C015)
Neolithic 31mm Width: 18mm Material: Flint Colour: Brown Type: Leaf Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the south. The ... moreSahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. 33 Sahara Neolithic relics - tools, celt, beads, and 1 paleolithic tool.
This group of 33 Sahara Neolithic relics. Plus a Paleolithic Aterian tool, is composed of diverse types of relics, which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes three trianglar Eiffel Tower points from Algeria. This group consist of several types and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 21 stone projectile points and tools, 10 hard-stone beads(mostly quartz disc beads) one pottery bead(western Mauratania) one hardstone celt, and a cylindrical labret thought to be used in body piercing or lips or ears. There is a unifacial tool seen at the bottom middle. It is from the late Mesolithic era or early Neolithic Morocco, dating ... moreto approximately 7,000 years Before Present. At the upper right you will see an Auterian tool from the Sahara. This is the earlier known type of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. Tips are often worked around for scrapping(not broken) as is this one. This relic is a good 30,000 years old, possibly much older. This is one of the more diverse offering of ancient Sahara relics you will find in one lot. The shortest point is a triangle of 3/4th inch(19 mm) long. The longest tool is a nice ovaal blade of 2 3/8th inches(62 mm) long. Seen at bottom right. The celt is 1 3/8th inches(34 mm) long. Small dings are to be expected given their delicacy, usage, and 4000+ years lying in the desert, subject to damage by adverse weather, animals,
