Antique 19th C Newel Post Turned Victorian Architectural Salvage 48"
Antique 19th C turned newel post. Found in an old barn in upstate NY, measures 48" tall, square sections are 4 1/2" square. Not sure what type of wood it is, possibly chestnut? Post in good condition with some wear to finish in some spots, small scrapes, a ding or two, some paint specks. Very nice newel post ready for its new home!

(Set of 3) Vintage Brass Horse Head Hitching Post Toppers/Rail Holders
Brass Horse Heads Very nice workmanship on this set of 3 vintage brass horse heads. Each figure is mountable to a post and could be used on it's own as a hitching post. But. All 3 were originally spaced equidistant from each other and a brass rail was fitted through the ring on each horse to form a long hitching rail. A wooden rail could be placed through the rings also. If desired. When we acquired these, there was no rail present any longer. The horse heads are all the same size and weigh approx. 4 pounds apiece. They are 9.25" long. 6.5" tall and 4.25" at the widest point. The rings at the end of the nose are 2" in diameter. Each ring has a screw at the bottom of it which can be turned to help secure any rail that is inserted. At the back of the heads. There is a right angle cut where the head could be mounted to ... morea post. The cut measures 3" x 2.5" There are two holes for screws/nails at the backs of the heads~one at the top and one at the bottom. The last photo shows one of the heads mounted to a simple two by four. These are in very good vintage condition and do have a patina while retaining quite a bit of shine. There is verdigris present~especially in the engraved grooves of the design and at the area of the holes at the end of the noses. There is some spotting-probably weather-related. But these are in fine overall shape and make a striking impression. I have tried and failed to find any maker's marks. But they are very well made and very solid. The detailing is excellent. They would be quite expensive to mail by weight. But they will all 3 actually fit into one large flat rate box. So will mail for one rate to anywhere in the contiguous United States. We are offering all 3 together at first. Because they really do belong together. But if no one buys them this way, we will eventually be offering them one at a time. An unusual architectural salvage group of 5 small carved marble corinthian columns. Not molded composite. Solid carved marble. Note the pineapple decoration in the corinthian foliates. Disassemble as shown, photographed upside down. Measure about 14 1/4" in height overall and 4 3/4" square on the corinthian cornice, each column weighs about 13 pounds. Condition is very good, with a few small chips here and there(enlarge pictures to examine) The group of 5 weigh about 65-70 pounds before packaging, so they will be shipped in 2 or 3 packages for shipping safety. I am very pleased to offer this very nice Victorian 1800s corner/garden gate end post that was recently found recently in an estate in Western PA. The piece measures aprox 45 1/2" tall and is 4 1/2" square with original topper and end plate that you could attach to a sidewalk or platform of your choosing. It has some nice filigree in its body and this is ALL in tact with just minor wear from age with NO breaks.Repairs, or cracks. Pair Antique Cast Iron Acorn Top Horse Hitching Post Signed "J C" "B"
You are bidding on a pair of antique Cast Iron Hitching Post/ Horse Tie. The pair are in the shape of an acorn. There is one ring on each post. Each Post is signed with"J C" by one of the holes and"B" by another hole. Each Post measures approximately 9 1/4" tall to the top of the point. The ring measures approximately 2 5/8" across. One of the rings is not round. You can see it in the photos, both are soldered rings. The bottom of the post measures approximately 5" across and the inside measures approximately 4 7/16" across. This is a wide post. There are three holes around the outside of the post so it can be secured to a wooden post, the three holes a recessed. These are not reproductions. Early Canadiana Carved Pine Cornice and Frieze of Double Column
This beautiful early Canadiana carved pine cornice and frieze originally from the top of a double column may be from a chapel that no longer exists. The beauty of this piece is the simple subject from nature and the exacting carving technique into the pine. It has had one owner since it was purchased from a dealer in 1980. Other then one paper fine crack in the flower on the left carved frieze. Which has been repaired, there is no other damage on this piece except for the normal signs of aging for a piece of this age. It's probably more than 200 years old. It is extremely heavy for it's size. It measures 23" long, 8 1/2" high and 4 1/2" deep. Antique Architectural Salvage Wood Oak NEWEL POST Chippy White Paint & Ribbons
Antique ARCHITECTURAL Salvage Oak NEWEL POST with Old Chippy White Paint Size: 45 3/4" tall x 8" x 8" overall(all measurements are approximate) Description: This whimsical antique newel post will add architectural interest to your home- the possibilities are endless. These are often seen only in decorator magazines and are hard to find. Even in antique stores. This is out of a Victorian mansion in the Los Angeles area. This one is wonderful and heavy with nice thick moldings and a whimsical details. The old white paint is all perfectly time worn. Shabby and chippy. You can see the original oak wood underneath in the photos, in places where the paint is worn off. It has been indoors for all of it's life so there is no dry rot that I sometimes see on wood that has been out in the elements. Though the paint is chippy and worn ... moreit is not'shedding' as some others are. There are carved wooden ribbon applique details on 3 sides- so romantic! Please see the photos of showing the cut out notches on the bottom of the back side. They are pretty much all this way when they are removed from a stairway(see last two photos) This could easily be filled in with some old wood or you can just turn that side toward the wall as I have. Even with the notched-out area on the base it still stands alone and is quite sturdy. There is also a rough area near the top on the back side where it was removed from the banister. There are a few minor age splits on the surface of the wood that are tight and do not distract- just adds to its character. This one is flat on the top which is nice to use to display a statue or other objects. All bases are split in order to fit over existing porch base. but could also be used in new construction. They were manufactured by Flexible Moulding Concepts. And are made of a composition product called"resinart" The 10" size measure 9 3/4" inside, 5 3/8" high, and has a 13 3/8" square base. Antique Colonial Architecture Wooden Ionic Pair of Columns ~5 1/2 ft.
These are some older antique wooden columns from my house. I'm not sure of how old they are but the house of origin is 1909. There is some minor scuffs. One of the tops has a little bare wood showing(as shown in pictures) They measure 5 feet 4-3/4" tall with bases that are about 8"x8" I am not able to ship or deliver these. VERY NICE PAIR OF SMALL( 19 1/2" HT. MAHOGANY COLUMNS WITH HAND CARVED CAPITALS: The overall condition of this handsome pair of matched columns is very good. There are some small chips on each capital. But with the dark mahogany finish. The chips do not stand out. The tapered shaft has mahogany veneer. The varnish on the veneer has aged to a fine stippled surface. The stippling is very uniform and of a consistent color and texture on both columns. One column does have some abrasions on the shaft and a small chip and surface crack at the bottom. Most of this damage is on one side, allowing it to be placed out of sight on the back when displayed. The hand carved capitals are in a Corinthian style. Each capital has a large raised oval panel at the center of each face. Acanthus leaf carving is draped down from each volute. If you collect ... morearchitectural items, you know that it is very difficult to find a matched pair of columns with the style and quality of this pair. Wood Architectural Pillars by Patella
Architectural wood pillars custom made by Patella for the City of Boston. Made for a remodel job at the main branch of the Boston Public Library at Copley Square Boston. Unused and have been sitting in the climate controlled basement there for the last 23-25 years. Most are still in original crates. Exceptional engineering and construction. Patella is very very high end. The bases appear to be 6 ply marine grade plywood. Though most. I think 10 out of 12 have suffered some delamination of the glue on the biscuit joints of the base moulding. Not a very difficult or expensive fix. I have probably 25-30 pictures but had some trouble uploading probably will add more. They stiill have some dust on them. They are right about 10 feet tall, but am sure a talented person with a band saw could make them 8 or 9 feet tall. The caps are I believe corinthian ... morestyle and are plaster. ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUES : PAIR OF MATCHING CARVED NEWEL POST CAPS
MATCHING PAIR OF CARVED NEWEL POST CAPS: Very nice matching pair of hand carved newel post caps. Each side of a cap is deeply carved in an acanthus leaf design. The top element is a small segmented dome sitting on a flat base piece. Each corner of the base piece has a small circular corner ball. one corner ball is missing on one of the caps) The segmented dome is capped with a matching carved ball. The quality if the acanthus leaf design has been done with very good workmanship. Each cap is approx. 7 1/2" tall and 5 3/8" square. I am not sure of the wood type. It is a heavy. Densely grained wood, that is light in color. It could possibly be a light mahogany. The wood does have a dark mahogany stain with a satin varnished finish.
