Antique chestnut wood newel post 48" tall historic vintage architectural salvage
Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

Set of 3 Wrought Iron Balcony Railings
3 balcony style railings here all three measure same 78"long 30" tall 21"deep. I bought these over a year ago had great plans for them. Other interest have came up so you know the rest of the story. antique, rare and unusual IRON HITCHING POST 60 1/2" TALL
This old post is a dandy. Most of the post you see have a horse head on them. That's what makes this one piece iron post different. I would date this to the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The bottom part would have been put in the ground with cement poured around it so that whatever you hitched to it had no chance of getting away. It stands 60 1/2" tall and if I were to guess weighs between 100 to 125 lbs. Because of size and weight would have to be picked up. Unless other arrangements are made. Two wooden. Antique pillars for sale. They do include one base or top each, which is square-it could be used on either the top or the bottom of the pillars. See the second picture for the base/top. The pillars taper slightly towards the top. The do not have any paint or stain on them. They make great architectural pieces on their own but would also be great painted or stained for actual use. This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. 7 matching architectural porch posts from the 1940s or earlier- we're not exactly sure when they were installed. But they're not original to our house. Overall heights as follows(all heights include 1-3/4" thick top and bottom of capital and base) 4@ 87.75" 2@ 84.5" 1@ 84.25" Turned section is 10" diameter at the bottom tapering to 8" diameter at the top. Capital is 12" x 12" base is 13" x 13" Very good condition, no rot or termite damage except on a couple of pieces of the square base. Top, and stone base is 9' The stone base is 12" x 12" x 9"tall. The wood top measures 12.25" x 12.25" x 10.5"tall. The base of the column part is 8" in diameter and the top of the column part is 6.5" in diameter. They were imported from Europe. We purchased them in 2000 during the construction of a new home and never used them. They have been stored in our garage since we purchased them. They are in good, usable condition. Up for auction is a pair of turned wood vintage turn of C architectural remnants repurposed onto marble tile bottoms recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. The top has velcro on them but unsure of what sort of repurposing the velcro was for. They are 16 3/4" tall. And 3" wide in the middle wide part. These are a wonderful example of craftsmanship, very ornate and decorative, as found condition, the bases are both loose from the column itself, and on of the bases needs to be re-glued back together, slightly tapered at the top and fluted for the bottom portion, the one base does have a split starting at the base, some age cracks on the wood from age, complete some scuffs and scratches wear as you would expect with age and use, great as is or wonderful if you just freshened with some poly, these are large and measure 92 1/8" high the column itself, and it measures 10 1/4" wide at the base and slightly tapers to roughly 8 1/2"9" at the top, the base plates itself measure 12" wide and 1 3/4" high, the top of the columns measure 12" by 12" hallow ... morepole, does show signs of wear and age, highly decorative, great pair of poles just under 8' because of the size this will be listed as a pick up only but we will assist you in with anything we can

The asking price is for ONE COMPLETE PAIR OF COLUMNS but I have EIGHT COMPLETE COLUMNS. Each column includes a very ornate Corinthian. Hemp reinforced plaster capital, a sturdy wooden column, and a waterproof(I think polyurethane) base. They stand approximately sixteen feet tall total. They can however, be cut to any shorter length to fit a variety of height requirements. They have spent their entire, approx. 15 yr. life indoors in a year-round climate controlled environment but are also suitable for decades of outdoor use with proper finishing. They are a beautiful color but will need to be re-painted or at least touched up, as they have handling scratches and unpainted areas. I have a few more photos that I can send upon request. This is a most unique Veduta done by Salomon Kleiner, del. Vedutenzeichner und Kupferstecher" The engraving was done by Johann August Corvinus. Page size is 17 1/2 inches x 12 1/2 inches. Platemark size is 13 5/8 inches x 9 1/2 inches. Salomon Kleiner was born in Augsburg and lived in Vienna from 1720 until his death in 1761. Antique Vintage Newel Post. Was told by the person I purchased it from that it came from a pre 1900's farm house that was torn down recently. He also told me that it was oak and believes it to be the original finish. It's in really good condition for being a hundred plus years old. There are a couple of blemishes from where it was attached to the rest of the railing including one crack at the bottom. All blemishes are pictured. I will also remove all of the nails that are in the piece prior to shipping. I just wanted to show it in its barn found state. There is one ring and an original chain(soldered on) The Post measures approximately 5 1/2" tall to the top of the ball. The ring measures approximately 3 1/4" across. The bottom of the post measures approximately 5 1/2" across and the inside measures approximately 5" across. This is a wide post.
