Fantastic Carved Telamon Sculpture
This is a fun piece. It was probably a decorative support from a piece of furniture. It is not perfect. The nose has a missing chip and the figure's chest has a gash that has been filled. Nevertheless. It still has an overall decorative appeal. It is 26" x 7" x 6" This came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects. This item can be combined with others to save on shipping.

Pair Plaster/chalkware Interior Gold Column Capitals
Nice pair of Gold Column capitals. I bought these back in 1999 at an estate sale in a small Indiana town. They were advertised as coming from a local bar. Maybe part of a backbar or a columned room divider? They appear to be made of Plaster or chalkware material. They look fairly old but I have no idea how old. There are some small chips that have been touched up over the years but they have no major cracks or anything. They are gold in color and it looks like they may have been leafed. Clearly they have been used for a lot of year but consistent with being in a out of the way place like the top of a backbar or a columned room divider. I took one of the photos with a flash but you can see the detail better without the flash. The interior opening for the column they would have sat on top of is about 5 1/2 inches. overall. They are about 13 ... more1/4 inces at the widest points and they are 5 1/4 inches tall. They are solid through and through and weigh about 12 lbs each. These would be great to use as molds to make reproduction columns out of plaster. Abutron, or concrete. I used them when I had my shop to display small vases in. These could be used in lots of ways. I am NOT offering shipping on this. But I am happy to work with your shipper and there is a"ship it now" center at 4048 Pendelton Way in Indy that I can drop these off to for packing/shipping for you. FINELY CARVED NEWEL POST NEWEL POST. 20" high. 6 1/2" wide(maximum) 6" deep(maximum) the dominant feature a griffin's head, mouth agape, six teeth threatening, the swept-back whiskers and hair(the latter upraised as well) suggesting the wings whose presence we are denied, an interlocking cartouche carved into the beast's baluster-shaped chest, a cylindrically-shaped, turned dome on either side medially, as stumps of wings. The base measures 4 7/8" by 2" the top 4 7/8" square; the four pieces of wood at the top's perimeter, joined at 45-degree angles at their corners, constitute a later addition(one of these is loose and requires a second nail) The piece is not quite free-standing(it falls forward) and bears a slotted hook on its backside to secure it upright. The composition is in three layers; three ... moresections of wood are visible when the top of the post is viewed. And further, hairline separations are visible along the length of either side. The base strip is 7/8" thick, the center 2" thick, the top(which bears most of the carving) varying in depth. The wood grain at the juncture of the top and center sections is very nearly continuous along most of the length, while that between the center section and the backing section is obviously different. The wood throughout is apparently the same species, perhaps oak. Given the short height. This is in all probability part of a larger(taller) composition. The carving throughout is fine, and in fine state.

These 4 pedestal bases were part of a solid black granite table. The top of the table was broken in a move so these are all I have left. There are a few minor scratches and marks from the vacuum on them. But in excellent condition overall. These could be used as a base for a new table made of glass. Granite, marble…etc. or would make nice supports for a garden or memorial bench. These are SOLID MARBLE so they weigh around 55lbs each so local pickup if possible would be best. These were removed from a Mid Centery home in Northern Kentucky of a friend of mine. They were used as shutters. After removal from the house they had been stored in the garage for many years! Some distressing(chips in stain. Crackling in finish, etc. that should be expected in a vintage item such as this. No major damage. Stained a dark color, but can easily be sanded and refinished. Great old piece to display on a mantle as is, or place a pillar candle on top of it for a unique look. So cool!

There are 28 More corbels that go with this set their are 2 for each column the larger of them go up against the column and the smaller are for the ends of these. This is a very nice pair of gilded and fluted walnut posts that were salvaged from an antique or vintage French bed. They each measure aprox. 49 1/2" high x 3 3/4" square near the bottom and are 1 3/4" square at the very top. The applique is made of gesso or some sort of composition material.
