I am selling this for a family friend. It is a custom made mahogany and marble executive desk from the Phillippines. Our friend was a Colonel in the army and had this custom made sometime in the 1970s. All the carvings were hand carved. No power tools were used. The drawers have dividers in them for easy storage. Please note there are more notches for the dividers than there are dividers and it is supposed to be that way. It is a used desk. But has been kept in very good condition. It is carved with musical motifs and is in very good condition save some damage to a back foot. We believe it to be circa 1950. The petrin was originally used to knead dough. The cover lifts up for ease of use and closes while the bread raises. They were usually placed against a wall with a pannetiere above it. The pannetiere was used to dry the freshly baked crusty bread. Today. They are used as decorative pieces used in any room. The carvings include horns, drums, music sheets and more. Scrolling vines with leaves and buds extend to either side of these. Including 1 drawer that is a filing drawer, Cool feature is that the desk top over hangs for a chair to sit on the other side kind of like a partners feature to sit at both sides of the desk. Great to be able to place the desk in the middle of a room or space. Not just against a wall. It has the original finish on the wood though it does have small surface scratches. DESCRIPTION. Great architectural style Danish modern teak desk designed by Peter Lovig Nielsen and made in Denmark. This beautifully crafted desk has a"boomerang" shaped asymmetrical top with rolled edges and sculptural legs with brass detail. It has three drawers. With the top drawer having a built in sliding tray. In the front, there is a bookcase/storage area and a locking mirrored bar compartment with a shelf. The original key locks both the top drawer and the front compartment. Stamped on the bottom- Lovig, Dansk Designs, Denmark. The bottom drawer is stamped with the year of manufacture- 1967. DIMENSIONS 59" wide by 34 1/2" deep by 28 1/2" high. CONDITION Excellent vintage condition. Very clean. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and both locking mechanisms work fine. There are no chips or cracks to ... morethe wood, only a few very faint scratches to the top and some scattered marks overall. The mirror is slightly foggy and there are are some small repairs to some dings on the inside area, and some tiny nicks to the top part of one leg. see picture) None of this detracts from the overall appearance, which is excellent.
