GORGEOUS Antique Street Light Ornate Finial Nouveau Green Paint Cast Iron
This is an antique cast iron lid or top. Probably meant for a large outside lantern or a vintage street light. It measures 6.75” in diameter and is 7” from the top of the finial to the bottom lip of the cover. The rod is 20” long and has a threaded end as I show. With a hex head bolt on the other end. There is also a hex head bolt on the underside of the finial and I am guessing once it is removed, the threaded rod inserts into this area. The green rod has raised lines marked off at 1” intervals along the length. This piece would be fabulous on its own simply as a tabletop decorative element, repurposed as a large paperweight, or used as a one of a kind cache pot lid. It has the original old green paint with some rust showing through and overall wear, and is designed with gorgeous art deco/ art nouveau lines and all sorts of raised scrollwork ... moredesigns on the top. This is in the shape of what looks to be an acorn. At first glance I thought it was a pineapple shape, but the bottom looks as if it is the cap on an acorn. It stands approximately 8" tall and the opening on the bottom is approximately 2- 3/8" by 3- 1/8" This is a heavy old piece and most likely should be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a flat rate box. Offered is this antique finial. Curtain tieback, that is stamped with gold crown. It definately appears to be from the 1800's. This belonged to a family member that acquired many beautiful antiques from the 1800's. The patina'd brass medallian contains the chariot theme with a cherub and 2 lions. The deep green glass is free of any cracks or chips.but the gold trim design is worn! A very large finial that measures 9" long x 7 1/2" wide at base. And on its' back there is a plate with one screw hole- and a second screw hole is below the plate. Up for auction today is a beautiful crystal glass finial. This piece consists of a brass bottom with the words made in and something else that can not be read. The base has four holes. Three of which are open and a decorative crystal top. The finial measures just at or under 6inches tall and measures 4inches wide.
