The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable ... moreshelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper cabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. See picture) There is also significant wear to the felted writing surface. No other significant damage or repairs. The entire desk stands about 88" 7'4" tall. It is 36" wide and 24" deep at the largest points. This piece is listed for'local pickup only' We encourage buyers to stop by our 11.000 square foot shop to preview this amazing piece in person. Approx 1840's-1860's is my best guess. Wonderful piece with a unique, deeply carved central medallion over a shell form drop. Shell carved knees to go with the finely formed ball and claw feet. All knee returns present, small drawer front molding missing over the front right drawer as seen. Some minor trim moldings missing. Hand chamfered drawers, square or rose head nails, hand pegged form, beveled molding edge, hand cut dovetails, fluted pilasters and a great mellow surface make this a very handsome piece of American furniture. There is an embossed gold edge next to the picture with a narrow black trim with a wide walnut edge and then another black edge with a round walnut top to the frame. Solid Cherry.....English Antique Furniture Eastlake dresser commode...circa 1810
This is a charming English made solid cherry antique dresser circa 1810. I acquired this from a couple who came to the United States from England. This piece is consistent with English cabinetmaking.This is made from solid cherry planks. The candle stands which flank the mirror are wonderful.The carvings and hand turned finials are beautiful. The hardware is all original except for the 2 small upper drawers which is new. All of the lower drawers have locks which work excellently with a new key. The hand cut dovetail joinery and hand chamfered drawer bottoms are beautiful. The drawer fronts are 1" thick solid cherry, there is no veneer on this entire piece.The secondary wood is poplar. The mirror glass is new.The mirror is on tilting mounts(it does not stay fixed when tilted. Just let in hang vertically) This piece has lots of battle ... morescars(nicks, dings etc) and some repairs earned over its lifetime such as dings in both side panels about the size of a"pea" The top(across the full width.left to right) has an age separation shrinkage crack which I repaired(you can still tell there was a crack despite the repair(see photo) some drawer bottoms have age shrinkage separations,there are some age shrinkage separations(cracks) in the side panels, worn edges, small stains in the top and character marks consistent with any fine antique.I refinished the top and the mirror frame, after repairing a missing piece of wood around the mirror thumb screw. The inlaid brass keyhole escutcheons are all in place. Most of the dresser has the original finish with a gorgeous patina as you can easily see in the mirror support photos etc. This wonderful piece will look beautiful wherever you decide to place it whether an entryway. Bedroom or living room.I restored all of the drawers and reinforced some internally with wood blocking.The drawers are strong, stable and they slide excellently.I t has such delicate graceful lines which sets it apart from the crowd. all the best. It has three large drawers with a fancy skirt around the bottom on four legs with rollers. Which roll very well. On top of this are two glove boxes on each side separated by white marble. The back holds the elegant curved and bevelled mirror housed in a walnut curved frame with applied wood decoration and a special decoration extending several inches above the top of the mirror frame. There are four original leaf carved handles which are not on the piece. The buyer would have the choice of putting on handles of his choice or matching the original handles with two more. Child's Victorian dresser w hand painted flowers CUTE
This is a great small Victorian child's dresser. Hand painted in what was usually called the'cottage style' Piece is walnut with a shaped mirror. Two handkerchief drawers and three regular drawers. There is a repair to one of the arms that hold the mirror to the base-it was well done and is quite stable. Beautiful original finish with a smooth and mellow feel. Overall size of the piece is 23 wide, 43 high, and 13 deep. The interior drawers are 17 wide, 3.5 high, and 10 deep. The small drawers are 4.5 wide, 1.75 high, and 6.5 deep. This is a wonderful antique hall or end table with a beautiful inlaid design. The top is veneered and inlaid with a design that includes burl wood. Satin wood, mother of pearl and bone. Antique Chippendale Dresser / Server
This is a wonderful antique Chippendale dresser or server from 1810-30. It is made of mahogany and mahogany veneers. The piece has four graduated drawers with banded framing and bracket feet. The brass hardware is very old. But probably not original to the piece. There were a few issues with veneer on the edges of the drawers and the drawer framed, which we had repaired by a professional period furniture restorer. There are also a few old scratches to the top which have been repaired. Otherwise, the piece is in excellent condition. As you can see from the pictures. it has a fantastic look. It has 2 rolled drawers and a large original mirror. It may be a Southern piece. It is a fresh local estate purchase from a Ga Octogenarian's home. This piece is in very nice condition. There are a few small repairs and a couple of areas that are missing veneer/ have damage. There is one small piece of molding that is missing between the drawers. The crotch mahogany is beautiful in its detail and color. The mirror is in very nice condition with a couple of small areas where it has a little silvering loss or ghosting. The wood case on this one is amazing. Still has what appears to be the original end nuts on the brackets that hold the mirror to the base. And check out the carved leaf details that are at the four corners of the mirror frame. The wood on the whole piece is immaculate. No chips cracks or splits on what shows on the outside. The bottom of the drawer is not split. Check out the bizarre doweling at the bottom and the dovetail only goes into the one side not the other. I found that to be very unique. I see no maker marking on this piece. The felt on the inside of the drawer was done more recently. It measures approximately 50" tall, 32" wide and 24" deep. Drawer fronts are decorated with painted images of putti in various settings, and each side is painted with the full length portraits of females in neoclassical settings with rinceau and other organic and classical motifs. It has four large drawers and one smaller drawer at the top, plus cabinets on left and right. Working condition of the locks is unknown and there is no key. We replaced the dull gold dralon panels with the more up to date and contemporary regency red panels and apart from this minute cosmetic improvement the piece is the same as it was when it was constructed approximately 117 years ago. There is a minor black mark to the work top(see pic 10) but all in perfect keeping with age& use. A superb quality piece made by one of the greatest cabinet makers of the 19th century. According to Sotheby's, this design was modeled by Benneman after an original design by Guillaume Stoekel which was created for the bedchamber of Louis XVI at Compiegne. A telephone number is necessary to give to the shipper. Description: This beautiful c.1800’s dresser is in excellent condition. The massive crown on this piece is carved with shell. Floral and scroll designs. The large mirror is beveled and framed by ornately carved walnut with burled accents. The mirror is in great condition with no breaks, chips or cracks. There is a small lamp shelf flanking the mirror frame on each side. The marble top base is magnificent. The green marble is in excellent condition ... morewith no breaks, chips or cracks that I can see. The base and marble are a unique shape due to the ornately carved columns on each corner of the base. The marble is cut to project out over the top of the columns. The marble has a deep double bull nose edge all the way around giving the affect of 2 pieces of marble. The base has 3 dovetail-jointed drawers with metal pulls. There is a small surface split in the wood where the crown meets the mirrors frame otherwise this piece is in excellent condition. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. The mirror measures 88 7/8 inches tall, 46 1/8 inches side to side and 5 inches front to back. It weighs 74 pounds. The marble measures 11/16 inch tall, 50 3/8 inches side to side and 21 ¼ inches front to back. The marble weighs 62 pounds. The dresser base measures 27 3/8 inches tall, 49 7/8 inches side to side and 21 3/8 inches front to back. It weighs 121 pounds. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested.
