Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. Make sure you use the zoom feature to see the great detail. Up for consideration is this stunning 23" Kretzer lightning rod arrow. Made of brass this arrow has a great patina. There is no damage or repairs. The glass is an NOS Kretzer glass that was very difficult to obtain. This is the only modification to this arrow. Also included is the original Kretzer brass ferrule the arrow was mounted on, this also is in great untouched condition, screws work as they should. On my other auctions this week I have listed the pendant hanger and ajax topper that were on the same rod. I personally removed them from a roof and they are new to the market. Up for consideration is this copper hollow body Rooster weathervane. Nice condition overall. There are hacksaw cuts where the two brass rods intersect, It looks like someone was trying to remove it and didn't know what they were doing. This doesn't affect the stability of the weathervane it is still solid. Everything else is as it should be. Rooster comes with the stand in the pictures. Old antique weather vane. It looks like cast iron. We found it in an old general store outside of the old Camp San Louis Obispo training camp( which dates to the First World War; the training area was actually sold to the US Govt during WW1 by W.R Hearst of the Sf Chronicle newspaper) The old general store was being re-utilized as storage. And they were planning on tearing it down next month. We were able to retrieve this old weathervane with their permission. It is being sold as pictured. As it is shown. Neat old vintage weather vane. That must have seen quite a few doughboys go past during the First World War and the Second World War( CSLO was home to one of the old Army armored units that fought in the Philippines and was captured in Bataan in 1942) Shipping will be determined based on its destination.

Most likely heavy aluminum; as there is no sign of brownish rust anywhere except on the tip of the vertical support rod that goes up insidethe boat and vane.From tip of arrow to end, 18 inches. Ffon peak of roof to top of boat mast, about 21 1/2. Directional arms about 13 1/2 maximum. There are three screws, all original. All three turn so that you can make needed North and roof pitch adjustments. The boat says SPRITE and the Sail has a big 6 and 341 engraved in it. I'm not sure when it was placed on the house, but I have vague memories of childhood discussions about the lightning rods so it's possible it could date to the late 60's. The hole in the weather vane dates to 1978 when I took one of my first successful and mischievous shots with a new.22 rifle. The weather vane is in good shape otherwise, aside from being weathered. Vintage Antique COPPER HORSE & SULKY w/RIDER WEATHER VANE Weathervane
Antique or vintage weathervane that I believe is an earlier version of this type. The soldered seams are on the crude side with lots of tarnish and patina. I'll keep my age estimate pretty wide to be safe and say early 20th century to the depression. There is some oxidation also. The driver seams to have the most. From the front pipe to the back of the wheel is about 32" Several non distracting type dents that are normal for this age but the wheels are pretty bent. They do bend easy to fix. Off hand I see 4 spots where this piece needs to be spot soldered, it's only attached at the vertical bar. The bottom of one wheel to the pipe, the end of one spoke(I did that bending the wheels) and the 2 rear feet get soldered to the pipe. You can see where both feet where attached. I don't know the age of it but it has deep rust pitting on the cast iron arrow.I don't know what the engine part is made from I think it is brass because a magnet will not stick to it but does stick to the arrow portion. Dramatic FOLK ART Statue of a Woman with Spy Glass Possible Weather vane I purchased this from an antique mall here in Portland. I tried to find something out about her. I found two listings(one in Switzerland) in an antique sale.because it was sold they wouldn't give me a price and the second one I found.she was similar although it didn't have the iron base mine does. And it sold in an auction in 2008 for 1150.00 see: blackwood auction website 052108/So, I'm selling her with the base(which is fabulous in it's own right) and delicious patina and weathered paint. My favorite thing about this treasure is that her EYE is still there peering through the telescope! On the stand she measures: 17 1/2 at the widest and is 37 inches tall. TWO pieces.
