Vintage Catholic Vestments with Gold Metal Like Threads
This set of vestments have been in my family for over 30 years. They were purchased at a flea market for use by a seminarian that never became a priest. The vestments are in great shape but a little wrinkled since they have been in storage bags. The set includes a cope. Stole, maniple and dalmatic. The fringes and embroidery on the back of the cope are made of a gold, metal like thread or wire, green sequin-like glitter adorns the crosses, red glass sequins adorn the embroidery on the back of the cope. The material is a gold damask with a gold satin lining. The embroidery on the back of the cope is quite extraordinary. I would be happy to send more pics. Please feel free to send any questions. The gown is a yellow satin material and old beige lace with sequins, sequins do not extend along the entire hem of the gown, one area in the left side is missing, but hard to notice since the lace hides this and it is almost under the gown hem. darker gold tone colored robe also has marks and stains also made with lovely decorations. Black and gold one with ribbons with silk embroideries. It is a beautiful set. Yes there is damage to it. Some fabric is ripped on the black burse. Some stains inside folders or on the back. Antique Vintage Mass Vestments
I got this beautiful old Mass vestment for a stipend from a church that was modernizing their vestment wardrobe back around 1975. I had the idea of using it as a wall decoration. It has been stored ever since in waterproof. Dust proof plastic. The pictures do not do justice to the extravagant gold thread embroidery that extends over the entire surface of the vestments. In flash photos it reflects light like a mirror partially obliterating the lovely green material underneath. There is no fraying, physical or material damage to any of the articles. There are a couple of small wine stains on the back side of the chalice cover, and the lace at the neck inside the chasuble and the neck of the stole has some very light colored perspiration stain, but the lace is undamaged.
