Camel back, Dome Top, Hump back Antique Storage Trunk
Beautifully shaped camel back antique trunk. As far as I can tell this trunk appears to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's. The hardware is gorgeous! The shape of the trunk is great! At first glance. It looks like a gold painted textured tin exterior with black hardware. Upon closer examination, it looks like the trunk is wood covered with textured tin. A magnet will attach to all the tin and all the hardware. The arch accents and straight accents on the sides appear to be wood(the magnet does not stick but slides to the metal areas) The bottom has seen better days. The tin shows wear at the corner and at the bottom edges of the sides. I tried to show this in the pictures. The bottom has been covered with felt. There is no tin used on the bottom-it appears to be antique wood covered by felt. The interior has been lined with a ... morecream colored polyester lining fabric. The lining was applied with upholstery tacks and a glue gun. Along the two short side there is a ridge of wood inside the trunk which probably held a tray at one time. In one corner. I was able to pull back the fabric and take a photograph of what looks like the original lining paper. All the nails in the top and sides look like they are original except 3 philips head screws that are used in one of the back hinges. I was trying to figure out why there were air holes on the sides when I realized that the handles are missing. The beauty of the shape is the main attraction. Measures 28" wide x 17" deep x 18" tall that peaks to 20" Very pretty piece. Looks like with a little work the original splendor of this piece would be a delight to own. Large Asian / Chinese Carved Wood Chest or Trunk BEAUTIFUL STORAGE Bird Motif
This is a rather large and elaborately carved Asian/ Chinese wood chest with a brass handle latch. I am not certain but I believe it is camphor wood. The pheasant/ bird motif is exquisitely carved on all five sides of the chest. The measurements are as follows: 39.25” Wide x 20” Tall x 19” Deep. I do not know how old it is or where it originally came from but this beautiful storage/ decorative trunk is in excellent shape except for the worn/ mildly damaged corner on the left front. Please see picture. Because similar chests have been sold for far more. I am rather firm on the price but will entertain all reasonable offers. Antique French Trunk Storage Chest Raised Metal European
At auction is a very fine old French chest. It has great age. Patina on the metal and wood. It looks to be brass raised and dimpled metal, with different scenes on 4 panels. Inside of the box is 24" long by 18" deep by 13.5" wide Top lid size is 27.5" long by 15 3/4" wide. It has a tag on the under side of the lid that says made in France. There was another tag beside it but part of it is missing. The writing and the ink reenforce its age. I am not positive when it was made. But you can see from the pictures its very old. I havent been able to find anything like it to compare it to. My guess is mid 1800th century to the early 1900s. It has a few small nails missing on the bottom left back corner. Where it had been hit probably while moving it. Metal is all there just needs a few nails. Over all condition is good. ... moreIt has a small piece of wood missing at the top left corner. you can see it in the picture. It was from the nail that holds the corner together. The wood boards in the inside look like the were hand sawed, and have file, rasp marks. You can see it the picture that shows the lid opened. Not positive what the wood is but it looks to be walnut. The bottom and back are bare wood. It has 4 metal wheels on the bottom. This is a great old piece, please look at the pictures good. Any questions email me and I will respond as soon as possible. Antique Dome Top Child ~ Doll ~ Toy Trunk, Wood Storage Chest, 26x15x14
We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The lock in the ... morecenter is missing the bottom section(the piece mounted on the bottom of the trunk) The trunk could be used"as is" for a primitive decorative piece. I acquired this flat top antique trunk at an auction. I have not tried to clean it as I do not want to ruin the integrity of the trunk. It is made of wood and covered with canvas with metal straps. The left leather handle is broken and the right one is intact. However they are extremely fragile so I would suggest that they not be used to pick up the trunk. This is an antique trunk that I purchased over 14 years ago from an antique dealer in CT. It has raised metal sides. I believe they are tin. The inside has fabric and a hidden trap door. It is a really cool and if I had room I wouldn't part with it. I used it as a coffee table. The measurements are approximately 30 1/2" long X 17 1/2" wide X 20" high. I have had this trunk for about 15 years and it has provided great storage and looks beautiful in my living room. The iron and internal structure are in great condition and definitely original. This is a rare piece. I was not the purchaser. However, and therefore I do not have any information about its age and origin. It is definitely old and original though.
